View Full Version : Sarcastic Gamer guild: let's make one
Game0ver 07-21-2007, 12:24 PM Hey, I have a TOTALLY original idea! :)
All registered Sarcastic Gamer members who have an IQ above 60 and haven't been convicted of murder yet will download some free game, probably a MMORPG, and form a guild. And, we shall rule the land with an iron hand.
Ok, this has been tried before countless times from countless forums, and results have varied. But, I once participated in a guild that started in a forum and for a while it was pretty cool mainly because it was folks from the forum. The cohesiveness and level of honor among guild members was high, lots of inside jokes in chat, people were helpful. etc.
If Sarcastic Gamer officials support this project even with just a blessing we could promote this website in game, maybe call the guild the Sarcastic Knights, or whatever. If they don't support the project we'll stalk them every time they go to McDonalds and steal their French Fries.
I can think of some free games or trials but let's hear from the masses first. I'm not looking to run this thing, though I would if people wanted me to. But, before any of those details get discussed I think we need a warm body committment, say, at least five (5) persons. One hundred is even better but at least five to even begin contemplating this historic project which will surely go down in gaming history as the greatest guild of all time.
Please discuss.
regua 07-21-2007, 01:25 PM Honestly, I have some better things to do. Being a part of SG community is enough, I think.
Lono_Lives 07-21-2007, 02:08 PM Dang, My IQ is 59. Stupid lead based paint....
Game0ver 07-21-2007, 02:34 PM Dang, My IQ is 59. Stupid lead based paint....
Actually, Lono, that qualifies you for the guild leader position. But, if you're not confident enough try the Hooked on Phonics learning system and check back with us later. We value a good attitude over raw skills, anyway. :)
And, regua, good luck with those "better things to do". I've heard there are some free porn sites out there. With a 14.4 modem it might take a while to actually download something but, like they say, good things come to those who wait.
CaptainDDL 07-21-2007, 02:41 PM Sarcastic Knights is taken. :P

I was just saying that you should either really play the game or switch it off and do something else which will be better for yourself and other players (fewer players = less lags  ), not just waste your time discussing some stupid topics in the guild hall (or whatever you call it) - and I know that the guild will eventually look like this.
CharlieBlix 07-21-2007, 03:29 PM What the F is a guild?
anyways. Umm... I'm new to the place and therefore I probably would still stab members of this future guild in the back and not think twice about it, unless that thinking was the pure unadulterated relishing in the moment kind of thinking. So I guess what I'm saying is, yeah... I'm all for it.
Go team!
Can I be the guilds banker person?
Scrubble 07-21-2007, 07:06 PM Depending on the game, I'm totally in. :D
Game0ver 07-22-2007, 04:09 AM Ok! Response to the idea of forming a guild of SC readers is stronger than I thought it'd be. My PM inbox is packed fuller than Emma Watson's phone book.Thank you, your loyalty will be rewarded.
In order to promote the illusion that this venture is highly organized we will respond to all inquiries public and private, even a few hecklers because in a democratic society even the minority deserves to be heard and insulted.

Sarcastic Knights is taken. :P
Ok, Captain, it is so noted. The committee is reviewing your request for the name Captain DDL's Dude Posse and should get back to you soon. Thanks for your support!
Haha :D

Point taken, regua. Who among us has not been in a guild hall chat where the most stupid discussion passed for intelligent conversation? I think we all have and we want none of that. But, the SC team will be a different animal composed of witty, sarcastic and experienced international gamers like you. Through the power of example and the everpresent threat of expulsion we will maintain a high standard. Have no fear, we know how to deal with idiot chat. The iron fist of guild discipline will garantee freedom from stupidity. Thanks for your support!

CharlieB, there is certainly a place for you in the guild. You'll probably have to start as guild prostitute but that profession is actually the fast track to guild banker. We must learn to walk before we can run, Charlie. Thanks for your support!
Depending on the game, I'm totally in. :D
Zen purity. It's refreshing, Scrubble. Looking forward to working with you, man. Thanks for your support!
CrAzE 07-22-2007, 04:33 AM Huh?
CharlieBlix 07-22-2007, 12:05 PM Sweet. And just so you know I really am down with the idea. I guess I should be up front and state that 99% of what I say is a joke.
I think its a good idea.
Including me being a prostitute.
I am so hot.
CrAzE 07-22-2007, 05:28 PM Huh?
Shatter 07-22-2007, 05:32 PM I'd be up for it, depending on the game.
Game0ver 07-23-2007, 08:31 AM Oh yeah. Now we've got Shatter onboard, too.
Our minimum requisite of five players has been reached. We've got a a few more potentials on the fence as well.
Next phase: select a game.
A MMORPG (many, many overtly repulsive people gaming) is probably the type of game we're looking for but the floor is now open for discussion on this subject.
Propose games that have a website online with some screen shots we can look at. Include the URL and a short description. Please, don't simply post a link and say "check it out", do some investigation to dtermine that it's a viable choice.
Post here, send me a PM or email Ms. Emma Watson; as the sun sets on the Harry Potter empire, Emma has decided to recapture her lost youth by becoming a sedentary, junkfood-eating online gamer---at least until she reaches the age where she can legally do nude scenes in b-movies.
Thanks for your support!

Personally, I'd prefer if the MMORPG didn't require a chunk out of my monthly paycheck. If possible.
Go Emma!
Locke 07-23-2007, 10:22 PM I'm in.
Knight-Online (http://www.knightonlineworld.com/)
Great game, free to play and is supported very well by the original creators. I played it for a while then got swept up by some other games, all in all it's pretty fun. It's a kind of big install file with quite a few patches that you would need though.
Upon registering and creating your character, you must choose between two nations: El Morad, the nation of the human race, and Karus, the nation of the Orc tribes. The successful player will seek to join forces with others of his or her nation in order to obtain victory. By enduring battles, that character may also become a hero in the Knight Online World. He may also receive a title and reward from the King, become the lord of his own castle, and even rule over a city.
CrAzE 07-24-2007, 01:17 AM I guess I'm on as long as its free.

You've caught my attention. I'm looking at the site right now and it looks pretty promising.
Game0ver 07-24-2007, 05:00 AM Knight-online, hmm, always wondered about that game. I will check it out.
Here's another...
Pirates of the Burning Sea - Beta test
In order to apply to be considered for the beta test of Pirates of the Burning Sea (PotBS) you must register in the game's official forum hosted by Flying Lab Software, and follow instructions. Here is what the beta page reads like if you haven't registered for the forum:
...This is the correct page for the beta application form, but it’s not being shown because you either haven’t confirmed your forum account, or logged into the forum. Once you do both of these things, refreshing this page will show you the beta application...
So, if you're interested, go here and begin the arduous process http://www.flyinglab.com/pirates/beta.php
You'll see on that website the game screen shot section, FAQ. and all the other official propaganda.
Here are a few important details from the game FAQ:
1.02 When is it coming out?
Pirates of the Burning Sea is currently in closed beta, and scheduled for release in June of 2007.
1.03 What are the game's system requirements?
Windows Sytem XP/Vista, 1.5 GHz or AMD Athlon 1.5 GHz, with 512 MB or more of RAM, 128 MB 3D video card supporting Pixelshader 2.0 and a broadband connection.
It would be amazing if we all were selected for the beta test. Let's give it a shot so that PotBS might become one of the game possibilities we have to chose from---unless you hate pirate crap. I do, actually, but if the sea battles can be played without massive lag, I dunno, maybe this game will be fun. And, we won't form a guild, we'll outfit a pirate ship, and get laid like Johnny Depp between movie scenes. YAR!!!!
