If you can say one thing about E3 this year, it’s that the games - both announced and previewed - have looked impeccable. There has truly been a huge selection that caters to all demographics and we - the gamers - are all the better for it.
If you’ve got any energy left over from these hectic couple of days you can read up on my opinions, and check out some trailers/gameplay videos, after the jump!
I feel I should begin by explaining this article is based solely on my opinions and for the sake of saving you all from a 20-page editorial, I will be concentrating only on the games that got my heart pumping. That said, I will NOT be covering anything revealed by Nintendo. I don’t pretend to represent the opinions of all members of SG’s staff, but the less I say about Nintendo right now, the less likely I am to explode in a fit of Joker-esque laughter and rage. Actually, I’ll promote two items, I liked the look of Dead Space: Extraction, and I am sort of pleased that they announced Mario Galaxy 2. With that said, let’s move on to the worthwhile content!
Microsoft have had Halo 3: ODST on the cards for quite a while now, and we finally got to see some gameplay footage.
This was followed by a dramatic teaser focusing on another Bungie project, the newly announced ‘Halo: Reach.’
Now I prefaced this article by saying the games mentioned had my heart pumping at one point or another, these are the exceptions. I’m including them because the gaming community as a whole enjoy the heck out of some Halo news. Personally, I never “got” the attraction to the franchise, I thought it was a fantastically crafted universe portrayed through mediocre shooters, and these trailers have done nothing to alter my opinion on that. But hey, everyone else seems to enjoy it, so there’s your obligatory mention Halo fans.
