I got some hands on time with LittleBigPlanet PSP today and am happy to report that fans of the platforming aspects of LBP will definitely have it in mobile form.* I didn’t get to see any level creation aspects nor speak to a producer specifically familiar with this game but I was able to figure out a bunch on my own.
Keep reading for my impressions…
I didn’t see any way to control your arms like in LBP proper, but as for platforming and the feeling of being Sackboy, it really worked.* You selected levels as patches on a globe, jumped right in, R would grab things just like the regular game… levels had you dragging, stacking, hanging, jumping, collecting, etc.
I did hear some of the reps comment that Sony is “looking into” ways to connect the two LBP games but I’m starting to think they were pretty much told to say they were “looking into” anything they didn’t know the answer to.* I guess when you’re forming first impressions, it’s better to give people slight hope than to piss them off.* The unfortunate side-effect is that jaded pessimists like me tend to not believe anything they ever say after that.
I’m excited to see this game progress, they didn’t have a release date listed so this could still be VERY early.* They did say they were hoping to tie the game into a level-trading website so we’ll see.
