View Full Version : My system broke!!!
Iyield2no1 06-24-2009, 11:28 AM Yes it is true. My system broke! It will read the disk, let me play the disk, then about 2 minutes later it freezes. Which like totally sucks! Because I'm on my way to a Platimum trophy for inFAMOUS. So now I wait for Sony to email me. I then have to fill out a from, have then send me a box, ( pre-paid. I guess that's a good thing! ) Then pack it up & ship it off. Then hopefully $150 later it will be fixed. This is just aggravating!
kevmaster 06-24-2009, 11:43 AM I have to do the same thing with my PSP, except my PSP is under warranty.
Cheese 06-24-2009, 11:54 AM You have to pay £150? That's half the price of a brand new one. Maybe you should consider paying a bit more and getting an Xbox 360.
Iyield2no1 06-24-2009, 11:54 AM Lucky you. My system is just around 1 1/2 years old.

 And what? Have Red Ring of Death happen to me?!
Plus I've already invested in a bigger hard drive for my PS3. So I'll pony up and pay the $150.
petergriffen1990 06-24-2009, 11:59 AM Good idea i think you would have more problems with a 360
Cheese 06-24-2009, 12:14 PM Haven't most of the problems been solved with the newest Xbox 360 model? Which admittedly should have been the one they released the first time.

Too early to tell.... its still a witch hunt to find the jasper chipset, and it usually take up to a year for them to start popping up.
on a bad note my buddies jasper elite RE5 bundle, went tits up with the E74 error. I think this new chipset will just prolong the inevitable, just like the other revisions.
mynameshouldntmatter 06-24-2009, 02:04 PM I still got the ylod blues. Hang on tight brother.
It will get fixed in three days.
...
TomCoopz 06-24-2009, 02:05 PM i feel for everyone who's console broke, its just a sad sad time, my ps2 broke many a time (feel off its shelf) and this has given me a greater appreciation

Not quite. In fact when they just started releasing them, a few demo units at a gaming convention got rrod. I can't remember if it was TGS or CES. Which ever one it was, it was f***ing funny.

i've had the same problem, but haven't had the money to fix it for a couple months... it's the blu-ray drive that's crapped out for you. you should still be able to play DVDs and PS2 games (is yours the OG 80 gig model? mine is).

So it can Red Ring and hes back at square 1. Also he will miss out on: Uncharted 2, Fat Princess, God of War 3, MAG, Ratchet & Clank Crack in Time, Pixel Junk Shooter?
But hey he could play um...crackdown 2? And could have a virtual friend! Actually now I take all i said back, buy a 360 so you don't have to go outside to be social you can go fishing with Milo!!
Cam-Dog 06-25-2009, 01:39 AM Sorry bro our hearts are with you. *not literally though*
instant 06-25-2009, 03:28 AM ouch man, stay strong :(
The Dutch Don 06-25-2009, 04:53 AM Every gamer's worst nightmare. Being deprived from your daily dosis. I guess that's not just a gamer's nightmare.. Anyways, good luck with your looming dry spell.

Not actually. Mine is the smaller 40 gig system. But just around a year I had maxed it out. So I invested in a 500GB HD. Now from the sound of it, I'll have a new BR Drive in it as well.
Thanks everyone for helping diagnose my systems problem.
With it seeming like it's the BR Drive. Do you guys think I'll get "my" system back, or a Refurbished one?
Cam-Dog 06-25-2009, 05:39 PM Make sure to put your old 40GB HDD back in it before you send it off to Sony because you may get a referb one instead of your original or they may just steal it.
bunny roses 06-26-2009, 12:52 AM Im sorry hunny : (
That keeps happening in my jhon woo strangehold demo ><

:wink2: Did that last night Cam. I'm just waiting for my box to arrive. Going to take 5-10 business days. Even backed up the 500GB in case something happens!
DylanMMc 06-26-2009, 12:27 PM SAME thing happened to me about 2 weeks ago, they sent me a refurbished PS3 with a messed up fan, it comes on really really loud even when the PS3 isn't hot. I'm sending it back for another refurb. Also you should get a portable hard drive and just back up your ps3 hard drive, or u can get one of those 1 GB thumb sticks and copy all your saves to it.

 Already back it up! Thanks for the advice though!

hey finch, did you get your name from "to kill a mocking bird" Atticus Finch ?
TheBrain76 06-26-2009, 11:55 PM Since it's probably just the blu-ray drive chances are good that you'll get your system back.
Im sorry hunny : (

That game was sooo underrated. It was a blast t play!
Iyield2no1 06-29-2009, 07:52 PM According to my UPS tracking number, I get my shipping box tomorrow. So if all goes well. I'll have it restore itself and have it packed up & back to the UPS store the same day. Then, hopefully, by Mid July i'll have it back!
Iyield2no1 06-30-2009, 02:52 PM I just got my shipping box at around 3:50 Est. So once me system restores itself. I'm off to the UPS store , then this baby's off to Texas! :w00t:
Iyield2no1 07-09-2009, 12:29 AM Well good news. I got a email from the service center stating that my system is on it's way home. :w00t: They just received it Monday & I'm scheduled to get it back on 6/13. So let the countdown begin!
The only thing that gets me is will it be my system? Can they change out a Blue Ray Drive that quick? Maybe. According to my email I'm at least getting back the same model number. I'll just check the serial number when it gets back.
RAGNAROCK 07-09-2009, 01:25 AM and check if you get the disc that was in the ps3 too =P
PikminGuts92 07-09-2009, 10:07 PM They just received it Monday & I'm scheduled to get it back on 6/13.
You mean 7/13, right? Well I'm happy to hear you'll getting it back so soon. How have you been holding up without it?

Nice, man! Will it really matter if it's your system?

My bad! Yes I meant 7/13. As for holding up. I've been bored out of my mind. I did dig out the PS2 and finished Guitar Hero: Areosmith. Been playing some Heros of the Pacific. But I didn't realize how much I'd miss the my PS3 until after it was gone.
Nice, man! Will it really matter if it's your system?
Well not really. I guess it is just the principle of the matter. I mean, that's the one "I" paid for. So it would be nice to get that one back, but if not, I'll be okay with it. I'm going to be putting in my 500GB hard drive when it gets back anyway. So it's not like I'll be keeping the hard drive it comes back with in the system anyways.
TheBrain76 07-11-2009, 06:25 PM and check if you get the disc that was in the ps3 too =P
What disc?
RAGNAROCK 07-11-2009, 11:08 PM What disc?
oops, I remember that he had trobles with the disc drive... I thought he couldn't take disc out... must have made up from somewhere.... :undecided:
