Hungry Luma 07-03-2009, 06:27 AM Not on iTunes yet.
EDIT: Ok its up, maybe it was just my computer.
Frawlz 07-03-2009, 10:20 AM Sweet... it is up!
GammaFist 07-03-2009, 10:22 AM Damn frawlz helium is a good sound for the ROOMAHZ
MrWooT 07-03-2009, 10:37 AM Awesome show guys. This was the best out of the 59 episodes. keep it up.
LatinKing 07-03-2009, 10:41 AM Haha Captain spoiler was funny
Shane86 07-03-2009, 12:37 PM Something stinks around here.... oh yeah THIS SHOW!
Just kidding, Rothbart's jokes are awful though. Frawlz on helium was v.funny.
Games seem to come down in price here a lot quicker than America, I've seen Heavenly sword selling for peanuts.
TamarindLAZ 07-03-2009, 01:51 PM Awesome thanks guys! :)
MrBernz 07-03-2009, 01:55 PM Frawlz should do a whole show on helium, probably not to good of an idea for his health though...
RaiseHavok 07-03-2009, 02:35 PM Frawlz should do a whole show on helium, probably not to good of an idea for his health though...
Plus your ears would probably begin to bleed after 10 minutes.
PopTrogdor 07-03-2009, 06:51 PM maybe they are wrong, but im pretty sure VGchartz is a credible source:
Uncharted Drakes Fortune: 970,000 in America apparently (1.43 mill in europe)
http://www.vgchartz.com/games/game.php?id=12778®ion=All
Killzone 2: 820,000 In America (810,000 in Europe)
http://www.vgchartz.com/games/game.php?id=12253®ion=All
LittleBigPlanet: 910,000 in America (1.2 mill in Europe)
http://www.vgchartz.com/games/game.php?id=12390®ion=All
Resistance Fall of Man: 1.4 mill in America (2 million in Europe)
http://www.vgchartz.com/games/game.php?id=1893®ion=All
Resistance 2: 840,000 in America (640,000 in Europe)
http://www.vgchartz.com/games/game.php?id=15255®ion=All
Metal Gear Solid 4: 1.6 mill in America (1.6 mill in Europe)
http://www.vgchartz.com/games/game.php?id=6970®ion=All
Gran Turismo 5 Prologue: 610,000 in America (1.7 mill in Europe)
http://www.vgchartz.com/games/game.php?id=6972®ion=All
Motorstorm: 1.51 mill in America (1.89 mill in Europe)
http://www.vgchartz.com/games/game.php?id=3850®ion=All
so thats 6 exclusives that are over a million in europe, and 3 in America, and like 3 or 4 that are really close. Although, i think they might include Latin America in that too.
Shane86 07-03-2009, 07:03 PM I'd be very surprised if MGS4 didn't sell more than 1 million copies in the U.S.
PacManPolarBear 07-03-2009, 10:11 PM maybe they are wrong, but im pretty sure VGchartz is a credible source:
The numbers we talked about exclude games sold as part of a bundle. Which is dumb. The numbers ARE lower than we'd all like though.
karbaasi92 07-04-2009, 05:59 AM The first 5 minutes of the show were the best ever.
Don't know how you do it, but you amaze me every episode
PopTrogdor 07-04-2009, 07:31 AM The numbers we talked about exclude games sold as part of a bundle. Which is dumb. The numbers ARE lower than we'd all like though.
yeah, but look at the sales in Europe, they are absolutely brilliant, i think Resistance 2 is the only one where america had more sales :O us europeans have more sense in terms of what console we buy than the americans! :P
SaintMantooth 07-04-2009, 01:05 PM OMG, the rummahz intro nearly made me die. I started to cry from laughing so hard. Great show!
As far as sales go... are you sure that mgs4 sold less than 250,000 in America(or whatever that lowest range of numbers was). That doesn't sound right to me...
rothbart 07-05-2009, 03:03 AM As far as sales go... are you sure that mgs4 sold less than 250,000 in America(or whatever that lowest range of numbers was). That doesn't sound right to me...
As Pacman said (and I don't think I realized at the time), the sales numbers don't include bundles.
Reknbal 07-05-2009, 03:53 AM Hi guyz. Im new to the SC community but a long time listener to the podcasts. Amazing podcast I don't even own a PS3 but for some reason I enjoy listening to the PS3 podcast more lately. Great show guys.
Btw Roth you can buy a copy of Heavenly Sword on Amazon for 30 new and probably a little cheaper used if you like.
P.S. For the first 4 minutes of the podcast Frawlz sounded smarter but I can't explain why...
PacManPolarBear 07-05-2009, 05:58 PM Reknbal (http://sarcasticgamer.com/forums/member.php?u=6054) - Awesome name dude, I gotta say.
ThePianoMan 07-05-2009, 06:38 PM Reknbal (http://sarcasticgamer.com/forums/member.php?u=6054) - Awesome name dude, I gotta say.
The question is... can Frawlz figure out what it means or how to say it?
I guess no :grin::cool2:
Great show, Rummahzs killed me
MrSoft 07-06-2009, 12:14 AM Yeah, the ROOMAHS are so great these days, every week is a unique intro, and Helium Frawlz is Legendary.
karizmatkstalyn 07-06-2009, 12:15 AM This episode made me want to larn the Canadian national anthem, which I almost know by heart already
saephirayew 07-06-2009, 01:31 PM Listening as we speak. Or as I speak. Whatever.

mitchayo 07-06-2009, 07:25 PM This was a pretty sweet episode, Restistance 1 the only exclusive to break a million in the US.. crazy. Obviously like double the people have owned most of the exclusives though so many people buy pre-owned games or from ebay and what not.
Oh yeah, great call on Nathan Fillion for the Uncharted movie rothbart, he's pretty perfect even though they'll probably do what PMPB said and pick some pretty boy trying too hard to be funny.
Anyway, great episode.
rothbart 07-07-2009, 03:45 AM leopluradon

Ok, that was a tough one to sit through, but I got far enough for the leopluradon and laughed.
TylDurden 07-07-2009, 01:50 PM great show guys, I have listened since the beginning, just because I am a lover of all video games, and a previous PS2 fanboy. I waited until now to buy a PS3 mainly because of price but I just snagged one last week and I'm loving it. I wanted to mention my story about previous exclusives, especially heavenly sword. I've waited this long for a good reason to buy the PS3 and "The Last Guardian" was one of the reasons. Of course all the previous exclusives were to. Killzone 2 was my first purchase. I did snag an awesome 4 pack of games off ebay for $70, they were Resistance, Heavenly Sword, Mirrors Edge, and Socom. I almost emailed the seller and told him to hang on to Socom but accepted it anyway. I'm glad I snagged the other 3 as I have enjoyed them and feel that anyone picking up a PS3 now in its 3rd year should do the same. I don't think these awesome exclusives will go under very many radars I just think the PS3 had a late start, high price point, and somehow missed the main gamer target and so fewer people have bought one, such as myself, therefore fewer games are selling on it. I bought the PS2 day one and had to wait 2 years before it built up steam so I vowed never to do that again. Sony fooled me again with the PSP and I got that day one but now I've really learned my lesson. This was the best time to pick up a PS3 and it truly is the year of the PS3 whether sales confirm that or not, its got some great games and great exclusives. Sorry for the wall of text. Love the show.
smelly pirate 07-07-2009, 01:53 PM DogsDie could never pull off Drake's Fortune: The Movie...he cries like a little girl when he gets scared. Just turn on "Thriller" and turn off the lights and watch the waterworks. 6'8" of sheer sniveling, snot covered fear.
Quinstar 07-07-2009, 03:27 PM Great episode guys. As usual.
As far as Uncharted the movie goes, you know we're gonna get stuck with Brendon Frasier playing Nathan Drake. Might as well call it The Mummy 25.
mitchayo 07-07-2009, 05:01 PM Great episode guys. As usual.

haha mummy 25
rothbart 07-08-2009, 02:23 PM Just to give a peek how things work, I thought I'd post a copy of Episode 59's Agenda in this thread. Note that we always try to have MORE topics than we can possibly fit into an episode and we record over by ~10 minutes, so we can pick & choose the topics we feel fit the best and then Dave can edit out the least worthwhile segments to make the show better.
I know our show agendas are over the top, but still... this is representative of what the guys get sent each week to prep for a show and I think it might be interesting to some of you guys that might somehow be under the impression we just chat about random stuff for 35 minutes off the cuff. Remember, not all topics in an agenda ever get recorded and not all topics recorded ever make it to a finished show:
Episode 59 Show Notes
Intro
Rothbart (something interesting)
Pacman - have something interesting/funny to say
Frawlz - have something interesting/funny to say that is exactly like Gears

NOTABLE MICROSOFT QUOTES:
http://tinyurl.com/nvb8qj “A lot of people thought it was the best E3 we’ve ever had, I definitely think it was historic. We dreamed of opening with The Beatles and closing with Steven Spielberg and it happened.” “E3, I think, returned to all it’s glory,” “it was the first year in maybe five years that I couldn’t get to the Sony and Nintendo conferences. I watched on TV both of them in their entirety but yeah, it was insane. I sent one of my staff and he reported back and yeah, it was good, I thought they had a good show, I think Sony did a good job. I hope I don’t get in trouble for saying this, but I’m pretty open in that I own a PS3 and I play games on it: I’m a gamer.”
NOTABLE SONY QUOTES:
http://tinyurl.com/n8moyw SCEE's peter Edward indicates "Home is the starting point for PS3 online and that's something that gamers are going to expect as more games support Game Launch from within Home. http://tinyurl.com/n5j8kr SCEE's president Andrew House commented on a price drop by saying "Not to harp on about it, but the PlayStation 3 has a ten-year life cycle and there are issues of cost and profitability... We will make that move on price when all those factors are aligned."

Shane86 07-08-2009, 02:31 PM I don't see "Rothbart - insert terrible joke here" Maybe you should stick to the agenda more often
That is a lot of topics though, kudos.
smelly pirate 07-08-2009, 04:36 PM Coining new term: Agenda Envy - and I have it.
MrSoft 07-08-2009, 10:49 PM 1 word about that agenda... WOW!
darkmonk 07-08-2009, 11:35 PM Crazy-long agenda. Probably good you don't stick to it by-the-letter or this'd be one intensely long podcast. Loved the Roomahs this week; Frawlz on helium should be a constant in the SGC's life.
1 question: is the lack of listener questions due to a lack of questions being submitted, or you three just not liking the ones that were? If it's the first, then I'll get on the ball and send you guys some.

Oh no, we NEVER stick exactly to agenda...it's not intended to be used like that, just a rough guide.
1 question: is the lack of listener questions due to a lack of questions being submitted, or you three just not liking the ones that were? If it's the first, then I'll get on the ball and send you guys some.
No, that got left in because we don't do segments every episode but I leave the topic headers in as a reminder for when I start the NEXT week's episode. We do some things every month like Roomahs, but other things like listener questions or crazy quotes we don't do regularly. We usually only get any appreciable amount of user questions when we make a call for question submissions (like today.) We're recording next week's episode this week too because I'm going to be out of town.

Oh right, does that mean next week's has already recorded or is there still time to submit questions?... I might not manage to come up with anything anyway, I think my gap year has given me brain freeze. Thinking isn't my strong point at the moment
rothbart 07-09-2009, 05:31 PM Ep 61 (coming out NEXT week) will be the Q&A episode and we have not recorded it yet, so yes, you have time for questions. I'll probably Tweet a couple reminders before it's too late also...

Their first names are similar!
But seriously, it'd take 10 minutes in a make-up chair to make Nathan Fillion look like Nathan Drake and he's already really good at delivering the kind of reluctant hero one-liners.
I'd pay to see Nathan Fillion play Nathan Drake even if Ewe Boll directed it... wait... what'd I just say?!?! :lipssealed:

Yes, we don't say it this way, but psp@sarcasticgamer.com works too... fewer letters to type.
