Ok, so I pissed some people off on Twitter saying that Papa John's is the best pizza ever.

I want to know what you think...

I prefer the local pizza place, Monster Pizza. They sell huge slices/ a can of pop for $5 :)

Well I have not been to every mom and pop shop in the world so it's kinda hard to compare them. Although there is a little Italian store pretty close to me that makes one hell of an herb Pizza. The sauce and dough is made by them them that morning or the night before, the other ingredients are all bought from local growers and cheese makers. I have yet to go to any franchise, Papa johns included that could top them.

I used to do Papa John's all the time until one of their delivery boys ripped into me about the location of my apartment. Since then I've been going to a local brick oven pizzeria (Emilio's) since their pizza is definitely better.

I hope Monster Cable didn't try to sue them over that name.

Papa JOhn's is AWESOME... But Come on Frawlz, you have to have that ONE joint where you HAVE to eat. Yah know the one dude? it has like a C FDA code with that one rat running around and like they haven't changed the oil for like years? come on dude, you HAVE to have one of those places.

Lol where's the "love game is a horrible song" thread?

And I've never actually had papa Johns for fear of getting turrets like the guy on the commercials, but I have heard good things. I doubt it's the best pizza ever though.

All the privately owned pizza places in my town have sucks and gone under. So ill say Papa John's even though i havent had it before.

...sigh.

Papa John's is the best pizza place ever. Every other pizza place just can't compare, even when combined.

Does this mean that I can keep my job at Papa John's now? Did any of the managers or owners of the franchise I'm part of see this?

Papa Johns > Pizza Hut and Dominoes, thats for sure.

But, as a fellow New Yorker, I cant believe you could say Papa Johns beats out some of the amazing mom and pop places around here. But I guess it depends on where ya go. In Manhattan there are some amazing places, but the real gold for me is in Brooklyn. And Im sure Staten Island, The Bronx, and Queens some great places too.

For my money, theres an amazing little place in Hoboken called Benny Tudinos with slices the size of a human baby for just 3 bucks. And its great, to boot.

But, to completely turn my argument around 180 degrees, Papa John's has some very interesting and creative pizza dishes while most local places just do the regular rigmarole. But there are those great places that do, and do em better then Papa John could ever hope to; and you may have to do a little research, but if your gonna find it, your gonna find it in NYC.

I dislike Pizza, the liquidy, lumpy tomato base and the need for cheese to be on all but 2 pizzas on any menu mean I don't order it, much prefer Chicken Caeser Salads

I haven't had Papa Johns for quite a while, But i would have to say my local pizza joint is better... While it doesn't taste as good, It is the only pizza place i have seen that offers anchovies as a topping and its cheap too..

Oh and Pianoman how can you hate pizza?

I prefer Pizza Hut. Pap Johns is good pizza, but nothing like Pizza Hut. So with that said I voted for the local Mom & Pop place. They always seem to be better than the Chain Pizza Places. It all depends on where you live. The Mom & Pop places near me isn't all that good. But the ones in neighboring towns are!

Papa John's is the best "fast food" pizza joint, but I don't eat "fast food" pizza. I get pizza from my local Conan's Pizza (http://conanspizza.com/). They are about a block away from my apartment. They have the best deep dish pizza I have ever had. Ever.

Dude, you're SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO full of crap, right? You're trying to get people to order Papa John's so you can laugh at them, aren't you?

A New Yorker... raving about Papa John's... sheesh. Maybe Dave edited your post to make you seem dumb... Good job Dave!

Papa John's is the best for the price. I like the local "New York" style places, but their pizza is way too expensive for what you get for me to get it too often.

At a (board)gaming night one time, the host ordered from a local chain (two stores). Since he was feeding about 12 people, he got 2 pizzas. These pizzas were two feet across. The boxes were huge.

Anyway...Yeah, if taste is all that matters, local place > PJ's > Domino's/Pizza Hut. I like Domino's deep dish, and I like Pizza Hut's breadsticks, but the pizza will knock you out. Domino's is generally a little too bready, PJ is more saucy/cheesy which I like better. But when you add in price, PJ's wins. I buy much more and more often from PJ's.

I'm also in central NC, so we have PJ's, Domino's, Pizza Hut, a couple local pizza shops, and a couple Italian restaurants with good pizza--and a couple with crappy pizza.

My pick would be the local place. It's about a block and a half away (read about 3/4 a mile), and will make you a pizza with absolutely anything. You may have to bring what you want on it, but typically they will go across the street and get what you want at the grocery store (does affect price). As it's an Italian restaurant, it's also good if someone doesn't want pizza. Only thing that may be a problem to some people is that they don't deliver, rather you either eat their or pick up.
As for Papa Johns, I'll get it if I want delivery, or time really matters, because it is less than a block away, and I essentially get it as soon as it's done.

Papa John's is alright. Best pizza ever? Some Italian guy is vomiting in his grave right now.

Dude, Frawlz, where else can you get spicy buffalo wings at 2am?

I rest my case.

[EDIT: I forgot about Domino's. But they don't really count...?]

Papa John's is good. I used to love my local pizza place, but then they changed recipies, and Papa John's took over.

It's not really a mom & pop joint, but Cici's Pizza is an amazing buffet. Personally I believe they beat just about anybody.

I'm more of a Donatos man myself. I don't like Papa John's all that much, but I'll eat it if laced in front of me.

I'm not really picky. Unless it's just completely unedible, I'll eat anything with crust, sauce, cheese, and pepperoni.

I just ordered myself some buffalo wings and a pizza from Domino's. :)

No, it's not the best pizza ever. My local Pat's Pizza is light years beyond that stuff. But like I said before, it's mostly a convenience factor; I can get this stuff delivered in the middle of the night at work.

Papa John's all the way. Our local pizza joint isn't bad, but fairly bland and "Meh."

Awe how could I forget! Chuck E. Cheese's is totally better than papa john's or any of the other pizzerias! Not only is the pizza great, but they have all kinds of games there. My favorite is whack the mole, but skeet ball is close second.

Also, what other pizza place has THIS kind of entertainment?!?:w00t:

Locally, both Papa's Pizza (doesn't every town have one of those?) and Track Town Pizza are better than Papa John's. Even Abby's (a chain in the Northwest) is better. They have one pizza that is entirely covered in pepperoni... in other words, the pizza you get looks just like the one on TV. Ever compare a store bought Whopper or Big Mac to the commercials? LOL!

Not even after I take a bite into a Big Mac, you take it out of the box and the thing is sloppy and lopsided. Whoever crazy glues those patties and condiments together for the commercials and Drive-thru menus is a serious artist.

Here in Louisville, there is a local place called Impellizaeri's that is absolutely amazing. If you ever visit, I highly recommend it. Also, Papa John's isn't nearly as good as it used to be. Personally, I prefer Pizza Hut. Sure its extremely greasy, but that is what makes it so tasty. I also like Little Caesars, thanks primarily to the five dollar large pizzas.

Theres a local place called Jolly Rogers its so good. But the best pizza I've ever had is 2 hours away, in Decorah Iowa, called Mabes, and they've been there forever. And there pizza is amazing. . . thinking road trip right now. . .

Papa John's is good, but I'll have to say this "brick oven cooked pizza place" where they cook the pizza in an actual brick oven. That is some good god damn pizza there. =D

In Australia, we have a place called "The Australian Pizza House". Best pizzas EVAH! There's only about 3 or 4 in my state, but the slightly inconvenient drive is totally negated when you have the pizza...

Mmm... Pizza...

We don't have Papa Johns in Australia, but I know that Dominos is crap.

I love Papa Johns, but the two best pizza places I've ever been to are Stone Canyon and, I'm not kidding about this, Pizza pizza. The pizza we got from Pizza, we had delivered at 1:45 AM, and that pizza was quite literally two and a half feet across. So delicious.
