it seems all news articles are just comedic, not serious. i dont see how this website is so sucsessful, as all articles seem to just be "sarcastic" as the title shows, but in no way informative or funny.

mostly because most big name sites don't really give real reviews, but are payed to make them, these guys do this on their spare time and actualy play the games before reviewing them. Also with the already 100 if not 1000 of other sites on gaming news, whats the point on being like them, this seems more original and entertaining.

im not here to say it sucks, im here to ask why it is such a format. Who does it cater to, it seems to want to cater to both the serious and the comedic sides at the same time. It just seems really irregular and i cant make my mind up on what i expect out of the website.

As most people have said it is all about the community and providing entertainment for the SG community.

Any negative reaction you get form a thread like this is just because a lot of the community members (myself included) are very defensive about something we have all come to care for.

It is not that we are unfriendly just wary of a new person saying what they don't like. We look to improve in everything we do and we do welcome constructive criticism, but I'm sure you can appreciate that it means a bit more from someone that we have come to know rather than than someone who we are unsure of their intentions.

As someone else said if you want 100 page list articles with an ad between every page you can go to sites like IGN, this site exists to cater for the community, not to line wallets.

The more you put in to this website, the more you get out of it. Keeping a core of good, friendly people here ensures there is always a funny or interesting conversation to have on the forums. I have made friends through the forums and had some of the funniest conversations I've ever had in my life :grin:

Ill admit, Ive been a dick, which I am not normally, ESPECIALLY towards new people. I'm all for welcoming new people and trying to help them get acquainted with everything and everyone. You know I'll be honest and say that I don't really hang around here too often, myself just kind a fly by guy most the time when it comes to forums. Yet, for one single reason I came to this site above all others was Extra Life and it continues to be the reason I stick around. You don't see much of any communities, let alone video game communities, give as HUGE amount of support for a cause as Doc started here.

Back on topic (for myself, y'all can do what y'all want): I didn't really see how the OP was that offensive to us. Sure, he could have worded his question better, but it was an honest question. He was curious about why our articles are written the way they are. We basically told him to GTFO (some people did). We didn't give him much of a chance.

I see the Sarcastic Gamer Community almost like The Office. It's a really, really great show. It's funny, got great talent, and is just all around enjoyable. However, alot of the stuff me and my Office-watching friends find really funny isn't as funny to my friends who don't watch it very often, or haven't watched it as long as we have. They may question, "if this show is supposed to be so funny, why aren't there more HAHAHAHA moments? And if this show is trying to have some sort of plot, why doesn't it focus on it?", because they're new to the show. They don't understand how it works. The show takes some getting used to. Once you know the characters and situations better, you appreciate everything more. The SGC is the exact same thing, IMO.

I VERY MUCH CONCUR... you have a posts per day of nearly 18... thats just weird...

Also, i may not have THAT many posts but i have been here for over a year and am most of the time on... i just dont post as much as i am on so it is still annoying me with a load of guys who havent been here for that long and really dont know much about this site trying to tell someone what this site is about... if oyu have only been here for a month, how can you give him advice? or even criticise him as you have barely had a taste of the community and the many features of the site.

Now, Timmy (lubalau :)), while i have found many of these posts particularly hilarious, i dont approve of how they have treated you. Ironicaly those are both made by the same user, which neatly shows another point. Whilst you may be surprised by reguas actions as he is an admin, he can also become very serious, as with many members. This is shown perfectly by Legend, he firstly starts and largely contributes to, essentialy, a 4chan thread in that first link and yet starts a deep and intellectual thread in the second link. So if you dont like the more crazy threads just ignore them and become deeply involved in the other ones.

Now, on to the articles. I will agree that some of the articles are stupid, silly or just dont make sense. But NO SITE will produce absolutely amazing content in every article but there are some very good quality articles that come out and you can bask in their epic win.

Finally, from that post it seems you dont listen to the podcasts. Now that is what this whole site was built upon! There have been manyu changes to the sites but the podcasts have always grown. There is (as of recently)
SG radio, just 45 minutes of complete random community fueled goodness.
SGPSP (also known as SG Blu) Which is, aswell as a quite silly podcast for making fun or Frawlz and his epic fails, a hub for up to date news on all things Sony along with their experiences of games.
SG Pink is not as infused with gaming news but it is three women chatting from their side of the gaming spectrum with a very drunk woman which always helps.
Now as of very recently we have had the return of the humpday update which is a pintsize update of gaming news with a touch of sillyness aswell from just three average blokes, with wives, families and their own lives and who are just doing this because they love games, not for any money or anything else.
Finally we have the many SG community podcasts. This gives ANYONE in the community their chance to have their on podcast and get it on the airways. We have the ramblings on whatever JonnyNero wants on the PodRant. We have lots of anger fueled random shouting on the Casual Core (of which im part of) and many more all great and unique with somethign different to offer to the airwaves.

So... there you have it Timmy :thumbsup: I very much hope i have helped and dont hesitate to ask me or some of the more veteran members of the community (well... except regua) I highly recommend you speak to Rothbart, MightyMutt, Yamster, Eoco or djdsf as they are some of the people within the community that i have the utmost respect for and are unlikely to make fun of you. :)
