I don't see an official one anywhere yet and some of the confusion from last year seems to be repeating itself so I was hoping to get a FAQ started to make it easier one newer participants.

This is just of the top of my head so feel free to add stuff and ask questions here.

What is Extra life?
Extra life is Sarcastic gamer's annual charity to raise money to help fight pediatric cancer by completing a 24 hour gaming marathon.

Who is receiving the money from Extra Life?

Texas Children's' hospital (http://www.texaschildrens.org/)

Is there a minimum I have to donate?
1 dollar an hour per hour with at least 4 sponsors is the preferred amount, but it is not a required amount.

How do I join?

SG's Team page (http://extralife.sarcasticgamer.com/)

Just make sure you chose Sarcastic gamer as your team.

I live on Neptune, can I still participate?

Of course!

How do I donate?

You may use pay pal under a participants page ( you may also sponsor yourself if you wish.) or you may mail in a check by using the offline donations button on your extra life page.

When can I donate?

Any time before October 17th (this date may be extended. This will be updated when the information become available.)

When does it start?

October 17th at 8:00AM YOUR local time.

Do I have to do it on the 17th

No. You may put in your 24 hours at any time, the only reason the 17th or the make up weekend on the 24th is preferred is so you have the option to play with a large group of SG members and staff.

I only have an Atari 2600. Can I still play?

Yes. Any console, PC, board game, card game, or really any activity is fine.

Is there a minimum that you have to donate. I want to sign up but I'm unsure if my mates can afford it.

Is there any way to create a custom "Thank you" email template? There is the pre-built one, and the option to start from a blank, but I don't see if we can save it.

You can donate $1 if you like or any other amount, I'm sure they will even take $0.50 since there is a box there that lets you type in what amount you want to give.

I can't find any way to edit personal information (specifically e-mail address tied to the page) after creating a fundraising page.

I've e-mailed the TCH for help but do you guys know any way to edit your personal information? I want to send e-mails through the website but don't want the e-mail I signed up with to be attached to every one of them (and you can't seem to change it)

Another quick question, I'm sure that i heard Doc say that you dont have to do the whole day, so does it count if i do a 24 hour stretch over a week? (still longer than normal)

Ooh never mind me the TCH got back to me and it turns out I just needed to go to their main "Ways To Give" page that has the "My Account" button (not accessible at the specific Extra Life bit).

trueblu93 - I've gotten the general impression that most anything should be fine - it's about raising the funds and doing what you can do which of course will be different for everyone.

Thanks for the help guys.

Well as long as you donate. It all goes to a good cause and every bit helps.

I have some (stupid) questions that weren't answered by the official FAQ:

For the $96.00 minimum funds raised - is that per team, or per person per team? So if you have a team of 4, the team needs to raise $384.00?

With a team, do you all stay up for 24-hours, or can you break the 24-hour marathon up into say... a team of 4 playing 6 hours each (over the 24-hour period)?

Can anyone of any age be on your team (my son wants in)?

Anyone who can answer these for me, it would be of great help!

Thanks in advance!

Any one can get in, each person needs to do the target individually, you have to do the 24 hours each

Super! Thanks for clarifying. One more stupid one...

I started a team, and set the team goal at $500.00 (there will be 4 of us). I'm planning on directing all traffic/donations to the team site and not my personal one so "I" probably won't get the $96.00 (minimum). Does that mean that the team is forfeit, or will the $500 my team comes up with count towards my individual as well?

Thanks again! I'm done with my questions now!

erm, I think it would help if you got sponsoring on a personal one it would be better but i'm probably not the perfect person to answer, you should probably pm Doc

Can I get the Extra Life promo that Doc did as an MP3 somewhere?
So I can send it out as a friendly reminder to the people I've already asked to sponsor me (did use Doc's email as a template for that too).
