I recently bought Red Faction Guerrilla at Game Stop on July 3rd, and I've been playing it ever since. If you don't already know the Red Faction series takes place on Mars. In this installment you (obviously by the title) attempt guerrilla actions against the EDF forces. This is the only Red Faction game I own so I don't know how different it is compared to the other games of the name: Red Faction. In this game there are 6 sectors that need to be freed from EDF control. They are (in order you have to complete them): Parker, Dust, Badlands, Oasis, Eos, and the Free Fire Zone. The Free Fire Zone isn't really a sector; the EDF just shoot freely when you enter the sector. In the game you play as Alec Mason, a former miner, who joins the Red Faction after the attack on his brother, Dan Mason. You start out with a sledgehammer, but as the game progresses you unlock more weapons such as an assault rifle, a rocket launcher, and this cool little thing called an Arc Welder. Along with the pretty cool weapons there are awesome and insane vehicles. Some of the vehicles include something that looks like Halo 3's Warthog, big semi's, weird EDF flying thing, this weird chopper-like thing that this guy named Jenkins drives, along with many other exotic vehicles. I have not yet completed the game (I'm slow sorry), but so far the game's content has been exciting and all-around fun. I suggest this game for you all reading this thread. To me it was worth the new game price. And don't forget to dream of a free Mars.

Fun fact.

Alec Mason's voice is also the same as Kanji Tatsumi in Persona 4.

the more you know

Well, i agree with ya, I think Red Faction: Guerrilla is easily worth the new game price. However, I'd say it's worth the price for it's multiplayer more than its singleplayer

I think that if you have a company like gamefly it is one for that since the single player is good and may take you longer then a week to play. I have tried the multi-player and did not care for it much, i could see how people could enjoy it. I just cant bother playing that when I enjoy bad company and cod which came out how long ago and are so much more enjoyable to me.

You dont have to free the 6 sectors exactly in that order

I f*cking love this game. The story, the campaign missions, *most* of the side missions...even the time-killing free-form stuff, it's all fun. If you're in the mood for something non-sublte, and you just want to obliterate everything , this is the game for you.

Multiplayer is the best I've played in ages; so much fun indeed.

Also, the first DLC is rather short in my personal opinion but I tend to consider myself to be really good at Destruction and Timed actions. I don't regret the purchase though, I still had a blast with it (pun not intended).

btw, to anyone with this game on the PS3, I want friends for organised matches and possibly some boosting. :D

Does anyone else wish that alec and samanya would do it at the very end. I know i did. It was a very fun game. I've beat it and am thinking of going back on the hardest difficulty.

Uh, not really. Red Faction does many things well, but telling a moving love story isn't among them.

Less poon, more boom!

The story, from what I've seen, seemed equivalent to a Micheal Bay film. :\

Yeah, I'd agree, but playing a Michael Bay film is much better than watching one. When you watch one, you're basically watching a grown man who's in love with blowing things up. Wouldn't you rather be that person than just watch the result of that love?

I played the demo and couldn't finish it to me. The gameplay seemed very off for me, and camera very weird. I don't really plan on getting the game at all.

^In this case, the demo is the worst representation of the full game. The actual game is alot better.

The mistake was placing you right smack bang into the middle of the action; even I was annoyed at the demo. If it wasn't for the reviews and personal recommendations, I wouldn't think of buying the game based on the demo.

Sometimes, the camera gets a bit wonky in close quarters, but lots of games have that problem; I'm almost used to it. =P I'd gamefly it, or whatever it's called. Rent it, try the full game out.
