For those of us in the Houston area, please come by and support us August 22nd from 6pm, we could really use your help. We are looking for people to bring laptops to help get others to sign up or make donations. We also need volunteer photographers to help document the event and take pictures for future media kits.

Extra Life Meet Up and Fundraiser

Extra Life is a 24-hour gaming marathon to fund pediatric cancer research and treatment. Last year, Extra Life's first year, gamers from all over the world raised over $120,000 and this year, we aim to surpass that goal.

Doc and Lesley, founders of Extra Life and podcasters from Sarcastic Gamer Radio, will be at Coffee Groundz on August 22 to discuss about Extra Life and how people can get involved.

Come by and enjoy a cup of coffee, pastries, great gelato, sandwiches, or a glass of wine or beer. Feel free to bring a friend.

Our aim is to use the power of social networking such as Twitter and Facebook to help spread the word of Extra Life through the Houston community. We would love to have you come out and support us and such a fabulous charity.

I wish I could fly or drive down there for the event, but I sadly am unable to. :sad: Maybe next year or the year after.

Hm.. I do have a high production quality hd video camera, and a equally nice still camera, but I'm not sure about the 6 hour drive... ok, i'll think about it. :)

I'm in my own dilemma at the moment but I can work around it. Two of my best friend's grandparents invited me to their 50th anniversary lunch on the same day but it'll be mid afternoon. I'll be heading over to CoffeeGroundz right after the lunch hopefully on time. I will have my point and shoot camera as a backup for pictures since I will have it on hand.

Remember, this will be an exposure meeting to help get the word out to the Houston area using social networking as an important tool. There will be people who have never heard of us or Extra Life at all and we are just going to let them know what we are all about, put gamers and gaming in a positive light, and most importantly raise awareness for pediatric cancer. I would love to get more names and info about helping us out, but I really hope to get more participants signed up for Extra Life as well as donations.

We will also be talking about future fundraiser events that may happen in the next few months.

@merlinGLX that's awesome but I would feel so bad if you drove all the way down from Oklahoma... such a long drive. But it's up to you of course, I won't stop you from meeting us.

Just wanted to say it was wonderful to meet everyone at the coffee shop here in Houston. I ready to help make this the best event I can. Additionally, I've got that electical info we were talking about so I'm good to go.
