Exane22 08-04-2009, 09:58 AM Sorry, but this should be in multiplatform.... at first I was thinking the demo was only coming out on the PS3 :o
I haven't really been excited for this like others have been, but Ill most definitely give the demo a try. Maybe Ill end up really liking it or something, I don't know but I kinda cant help but to have high expectations after listening to everyone else talk about it.
tapout 08-04-2009, 10:17 AM at the moment of my post i didnt know that It also would drop on xbox live and pc
TheBrain76 08-04-2009, 11:11 AM I wasn't too interested in the game until I got ahold of the combat demo. The combat flowed well and looked really smooth. I'm looking forward to seeing more gameplay elements in the new demo this friday.
AssassinsClaw 08-04-2009, 11:36 AM schweet! this is gonna be good!
snclr 08-04-2009, 11:56 AM I'm really excited for this, game looks excellent.
Sabin 08-04-2009, 04:25 PM This game looks great. Can't wait to try it out.
Cheese 08-04-2009, 04:27 PM I'll definitely be trying this demo. The combat looks awesome.
Cam-Dog 08-04-2009, 05:17 PM I played a demo for it in Best Buy yesterday. It was pretty fun but it wasnt a story mission it was just a little room with bad guys that you beat up in waves. It ended at wave 4 though kinda short but fun.
Keats 08-04-2009, 06:47 PM I'll be doing my best NOT to download the demo. I already pre ordered it and I want it to be completely new when I give it a spin the first time... that's not to say I'll hold out though...
Dakkster 08-05-2009, 07:30 PM I'll be doing my best NOT to download the demo. I already pre ordered it and I want it to be completely new when I give it a spin the first time... that's not to say I'll hold out though...
That's my approach too. It's going to be soooooo awesome to try it out. I watched the opening ten minutes the other day and I want to play it right now. I'd hate to know that I could just have a little patience and play the whole thing instead of trying the demo and then getting frustrated that it's too little :)
PCvsApple 08-05-2009, 09:14 PM Played the demo at Gamestop, friggin awesome!!! Not Gamestop though... is it coming out for the 360?
tapout 08-06-2009, 05:13 PM the demo is already online in europe :wink2:
Chubbaluphigous 08-06-2009, 05:21 PM I got the demo and it really surprised me. I wasn't expecting it to be that good. The demo is short, and ends one fight too short. Even thought the combat is mostly button mashing, it felt great. Detective mode brings a nice layer to the game. It looks like this is going to be the first proper stealth based batman game. The main characters in the game are great especially Harley. The voice acting of most npc's is terrible, and the over all facial animations look a bit crap. Arkahm looks like such a fun place to explore that I wish I could rummage through desks and things for extras.
karizmatkstalyn 08-06-2009, 05:22 PM Shveet. I'm definitely downloading it since I have no money and won't be getting it until Christmas.
TamarindLAZ 08-06-2009, 08:26 PM Just tried the demo. It's freaking great! The atmosphere is just superb! Played the demo twice lol, I wanted more after it ended. I noticed the dialouge might change once in awhile in the game (kind of like in Killzone 2 sometimes when you play the same level ingame dialouge might be different than the other times you played) The stealth gameplay is fun, I thought the combat was great! The gargoyles seemed to be a bit to conveniently placed but whatever.
Also, I like the gameover screens alot. They're pretty cool!
tapout 08-07-2009, 02:06 AM the thing that I like most is his combat style.... man his martial arts skill are just perfect
trueblu93 08-07-2009, 04:23 AM Downloadin that and the free KungFu Plastic trial today
TinyButDeadly 08-07-2009, 06:30 AM I have just finished playing it for the 4th time on my PS3 and all i have to say is IT IS AWESOME. The detective mode was really good and was a really good addition to the Batman games.
Ventilaator 08-07-2009, 07:27 AM I expected it to be good, but it was great. I´m definitely going to buy this at some point. I especially liked the fact that, unlike every single other game out there, guns ACTUALLY KILL YOU.
For that amazingly innovative gameplay mechanic, thumbs up
tapout 08-07-2009, 07:34 AM I think I'll order the CE of batman later on amazon uk :)
Killgraft 08-07-2009, 11:26 AM Meh. Combat is clunky and confusing to me and wasnt really explained in enough detail; Gameplay got repetitive in just the short demo period, nevermind the full game experiance, the intro was so short and too full of exposition (though maybe that was just in service of a more streamlined demo, we'll see); and overall it just seamed like another generic licence tie in game to me.
MeRcEnArY 08-07-2009, 12:35 PM Meh. Yeah the intro is cut down, A lot. I didnt think the combat was clunky, it was smooth, moving from enemy to enemy was great. The stealth take downs were cool, and the inverted take downs are crazy!!!
Personaly loved this demo, The voice acting is spot on and the controls were good. I found 3 riddler trophies and must have swung arround about 60 times
Keats 08-07-2009, 01:50 PM Damn. I don't think I can hold out. Better go play it. Where's my will power when I need it!!
Gamebler 08-07-2009, 01:51 PM I loved the demo, and can't wait for the full game to drop.
Combat was pretty fluid. It reminded me a bit of the combat in the Wolverine Origins game, and yes, the takedowns were pretty freaking cool. I suspect that there is a deeper combat engine at work than what I saw in the demo.
As far as bat-gadgets are concerned, the only one available in the demo is the Batarang, which works as you might expect. Another thing that reminded me of Wolverine was the Bat-vision. when it's turned on, you can see NPCs through walls, get a readout of their emotional state, and find obejects in the game world to interact with. I can't wait to see what other goodies are gonna be included in the full game.
The voice acting was spot on, and the character models are very well drawn and animated (Harlequin looks smoking hot). I'd say they look a lot like the MK vs DC characters, which worked on that game, and it works on this game just as well.
Is this THE Batman game that fans have been waiting for? From the too-short demo I played, it just might be.
tapout 08-07-2009, 04:30 PM inside rocksteady studios!

Hatakraa 08-07-2009, 04:31 PM Yes, we finally get our greedy little hands on this game we've been waiting for for a while. Be warned, it's a bit of a hefty demo, it's about 1.54 gigs so you will be waiting a while. Right now, the demo is available on both the ps3 and the 360, so dig in my fellow batfans! =D
My first thought is that it really is nice that they brought back most of the 90's cartoon cast for it. We got Mark Hamill as the Joker, Bob Hastings as Commissioner Gordon, and Kevin Conroy as Batman. So to me, that's a big plus.
Also, what they say about the combat being freeflowing is all true. At first we thought, "yah right" but it's true. It is seemless and beautiful as button mashing fighting components go. Yah, in this game, the fighting to me felt like it was ripped out of mortal kombat, but made batman style. It feels like that due to the control setup.
Now, for mashing, it doesn't repeat the same stuff over and over again. No, each time it will do something different, like say one time it zooms in and goes slowmo, next time it does a different move. There are no combos or crap like that, it's just that simple.
Also, not only is the combat freeflowing, but so is the entire control scheme. Everything is easy to pick up and go and is perfectly seemless. Example, I was swinging from gargoyle thing to gargoyle thing and i pressed a button to soon and thought, oh crap, i messed up. No I didn't. See, for when grappling or anything like that, it auto locks onto the nearest target, so grappling, taking out enemies, everything is seemless. I give Eidos my props for doing a great job on that.
But for there to be good things, there must be bad. Sadly to say, this is the camera. At first the camera is great, but then it switches to a view which is infuriating to me. Batman then takes up 1/4th of the screen when your not running and just walking. This camera setup makes me angry! RAWR!!!
Also, moving from place to place. Usually in a game, you have to get to a certain place before a cutscene starts. Nope, regardless of where you are, the cutscene which cut you off and then start with you being where it wants you to be. Basically, treating you like crap. Like after you take out 6 guys in one big room, it cuts to you being somewhere completely different, and then shows the final cutscene before the game cuts you off and sends you back to the main menu.
Also, then the final cutscene shows you about to fight a big cool looking boss, but do you get to fight him? Nope. It sends you back to the main menu....THAT MAKES ME ANGRY! DON'T SHOW ME A BOSS THEN SEND ME AWAY. LET ME KILL HIM!!!!
Overall, while I was playing this, I kept thinking, "this definately is not worth buying when it comes out." This, my friends, is a renter. Nothing more, nothing less. So do yourself a favor, and just rent this game. If you like it more after you've played the demo, then buy it, but only if you want to. I will rent it when it comes out.
Overall, my score, for the demo, is a 7.5/10. I can see where it is great, but the horrid camera, the ok graphics(cool, but not great), and then showing a boss but not letting you fight earns this game the 7.5/10 award.
SpecJoe Magic 08-07-2009, 05:56 PM Also, then the final cutscene shows you about to fight a big cool looking boss, but do you get to fight him? Nope. It sends you back to the main menu....THAT MAKES ME ANGRY! DON'T SHOW ME A BOSS THEN SEND ME AWAY. LET ME KILL HIM!!!!
The purpose of a demo, whether you like it or not, is an attempt to entice us to buy the full game. Showing a boss and not letting us fight it is one of several effective methods of convincing many of us to buy the game. That's good demo creation, and I don't see why that should make you or anyone else angry. After all, we get to try the game for free, and they don't want to give us too much for free.
ShortDude 08-07-2009, 09:37 PM The demo is short and i will rent the game, because it seems pretty but i can see it getting repetitive.
Ventilaator 08-08-2009, 12:25 AM If you like it more after you've played the demo, then buy it, but only if you want to.
Whoa man, slow down.

The demo is just a bunch of fighting : [
snclr 08-08-2009, 01:42 AM Well, I thought the demo was excellent and it's really got me anticipating the game now. The combat was excellent in my opinion, really flowed well. The detective mode is really neat too, all and all I just can't wait basically :\
Timewarp 08-08-2009, 04:59 AM Damn. I don't think I can hold out. Better go play it. Where's my will power when I need it!!
you and me both. I seriously don't think i can go on now. I NEED THIS GAME! I loved how you could take down enemies and the last guy would be terrified, shooting at anything that made a noise and then as soon as he goes underneath your hiding spot, zipping down and grabbing him before pulling him right up again!
Plus the joker DLC for the PS3 version makes it even better (i heard on the PS Forums that it's going to be free). The joker is awesome. I wonder if they'll have any other villians in this like two face or manbat.
ThePianoMan 08-08-2009, 09:14 AM Downloading atm... altho cause I'm playing FFX, won't download whilst I play methinks... so will be a while before it's front of the queue (2 ahead atm, tho the second is music or summat methinks)
MercenaryR56 08-08-2009, 09:51 PM I loved the demo so much. I've beaten the demo like 7-8 times, found the two hidden Riddler trophys and got the Riddler's Bio. The demo is so much fun, and the gameplay is very solid and smooth. I've played it so much, that I managed to, at that last room with all the thugs walking around, hang everyone of the thugs onto the gargoyle statues around the room (Vertical takedowns). Anyone who hasn't downloded this demo needs to now.
Breego 08-08-2009, 10:14 PM I played through the demo 3 times this afternoon. Twice on PS3 and once on 360. Personally I'm going PS3 on this one. Can't wait for the 25th.
Ventilaator 08-09-2009, 12:07 AM I played through the demo 3 times this afternoon. Twice on PS3 and once on 360. Personally I'm going PS3 on this one. Can't wait for the 25th.
Because of the Joker DLC or because you found some other differences between the 2 versions?
tapout 08-09-2009, 04:29 AM who else is getting the CE? :undecided:
I am still undecided
TinyButDeadly 08-09-2009, 11:43 AM BTW i found the Riddler trophies and stuff but how do you pick them up. I just sat there staring at them wondering how to pick them up??
MercenaryR56 08-09-2009, 12:17 PM BTW i found the Riddler trophies and stuff but how do you pick them up. I just sat there staring at them wondering how to pick them up??
It gives you an action option or what ever. I think it's the X button on the PS3 controller. It should tell you at the bottom of the screen when you get close enough to it.
Millakilla 08-09-2009, 12:26 PM Played the demo earlier today, I really liked it.. I can see it getting repetitive but with the enemies getting stronger, using guns, etc it should be varied enough to not become boring.. Definitely getting it, ****ing badass
Breego 08-09-2009, 12:54 PM Because of the Joker DLC or because you found some other differences between the 2 versions?
The Joker DLC is a big factor but I just like the way the textures look on PS3 better. I also think since I played the demo first on PS3 it swayed me that way.
who else is getting the CE? :undecided:
I am still undecided
As a big Batman fan and huge fan of the animated series I am going for the CE. Only because I have $75 in gift cards to Best Buy.
MercenaryR56 08-09-2009, 01:11 PM I wish I could get the CE, but with all the things coming out this fall/winter, I only have the money for the regular copy.
Keats 08-09-2009, 01:39 PM I just keep playing it over and over. I have yet ot the the last room the same way twice, and THAT is the big selling point for me. I'd like if the camera wasn''t so close to Batman when you walk but that's my only complaint so I'm happy!
Iyield2no1 08-09-2009, 01:54 PM I LOVE the voice acting!!! Brings back good memories of the Animated Series. I wasn't going to pick this up. I thought the combat system would be too hard for me, being Batman & all. But after playing the Demo, I'm sold. The controls are good....Everything is good.
I wont be getting the CE. Uncharted 2 is around the corner and I'm getting that!!
TheBrain76 08-09-2009, 05:53 PM In the last room did anyone use the walkway under the control room? I had a blast waiting for one of the enemies to walk past and then jumping out of the floor grate for a silent takedown.

I kept trying to get a silent takedown using the grates, but every time i would try, i'd screw up and they shoot at me. I had better luck getting vertical takedowns from the gargoyles =D
RaiseHavok 08-09-2009, 07:09 PM In the last room did anyone use the walkway under the control room? I had a blast waiting for one of the enemies to walk past and then jumping out of the floor grate for a silent takedown.
I found it to be a very effective way to take out enemies. Hopefully the game is littered with clever hiding spots. Speaking of litter, what if you could hide in trash cans, and bust foes who refuse to recycle? Crazy? Yes, yes it is.
Tirus666 08-10-2009, 01:35 PM i like what ive seen of the combat system should make for some gd brawls
RaiseHavok 08-10-2009, 01:41 PM i like what ive seen of the combat system should make for some gd brawls
Combat looks insanely slick. You can do a lot by doing very little.
Keats 08-10-2009, 04:07 PM I'm thinking combat will turn out being surprisingly deep. Using the cape was tricky at first but I soon started loving confusing thugs with it.
Sabin 08-10-2009, 05:52 PM This game looks so damn amazing.
Totally impressed with the demo. I'm sure I'll play it 50 times before the game is out.
Great combo of stealth and combat. I want it now.
Darksied93 08-10-2009, 06:36 PM Loved the demo. Kind of reminded me of the Jail scene from Watchmen. I don't think I'll get the game until a few months due to other games that I'll be spending time with, but it does look and play amazing.
BlueCollarGamer 08-10-2009, 09:38 PM I stopped playing the demo after just a short play through. I decided not to spoil what looks to be a great game.
I went ahead and bought it. I hope it is finally the Batgame I have always wanted.
5 dollar off code and free shipping at Amazon.com it less than 50 bucks.

The only thing I didn't understand is why the Batarang does absolutely nothing when I threw it at the guys...

You have to aim it just to the right spot of the thug to knock them out cold. This can be used many ways. If their is two thugs together, you can knock one out with the Batarang and then glide down and take out the second thug with a glide kick. The same tactic could be used with three thugs. You can also just knock out one lonely guard and then go down to him and take him down while he's knocked out cold. They can also be used (The batarangs) to distract the thugs, or make one or two of em come closer to where you are hiding.
photomaster94 08-11-2009, 10:33 AM just played the demo last night. it looked really slick even on my crappy sd tv. i had a lot of fun playing it so i might rent it but i dont think i would buy it
TomCoopz 08-12-2009, 11:27 AM Whats a riddler trophy, and where am I going to be finding them
Millakilla 08-12-2009, 01:04 PM Whats a riddler trophy, and where am I going to be finding them
Whats a google and where am I going to be finding them?
PacManPolarBear 08-12-2009, 01:26 PM For a Demo it was pretty damn good. If you loved the Batman or Justice League animated TV shows, you'll get a real kick out of the fact that the voice work for the main characters in the game are the same. Joker and Batman in particular sound great.
The fighting looks cool, if a bit automatic, and I could do without it slow-moing so often, but it was hella fun and I enjoy the counter system (which also seems really easy). The stealth and detective setups are what add that lil-extra woot to the mix.
We may just have a good comic game on the way here folks! The sky is falling the sky is falling!

You haven't played Watchmen yet? :P
TomCoopz 08-12-2009, 06:44 PM Whats a google and where am I going to be finding them?
Oh i'm sorry your majesty, I thought the gaming forum would be useful
McDuff14 08-13-2009, 01:52 AM Been looking forward to this game for months now. I must have played the final room of the demo about 20 times just trying to see how many people I could get terrified at once, my record is 2 at the moment.
This demo is insanely awesome. I can't wait for it to come out, loved every second of the demo and have to say that The Joker is funny hell with his announcements.
MightyMutt 08-13-2009, 02:34 AM Really liked the demo, makes me extra glad I have the Special Edition on pre-order - Batarang FTW!

That was my concern (i.e. it is a good fight system but may be so easy that it gets dull after repeated use) but from reports it sounds like they have spent this extra development time fine tuning the combat, hopefully it will be worth the wait.
Really looking forward to this now! :w00t:
GeminiPunk 08-13-2009, 08:52 AM Looks like batman is getting a good vibe. I played the demo just once because, like another poster said, I didn't want to spoil too much for myself and wanted to forget it quickly so when I pick it up it'll be great and fresh experience from start to finish. I loved the demo but from what I'm reading here it looks like it's much deeper than I originally thought, meaning few more ways to take out baddies and such.
MercenaryR56 08-13-2009, 10:00 AM The Riddler trophies are in secret vents that you can break open.
PacManPolarBear 08-13-2009, 03:56 PM What do you mean!?

Lol. No I have not played it. I have yet to hear anything good about it from those that have and not that I think Metacritic is all that accurate, but a high score of 61 is pretty sad.
Still, is it really that good? Worth the cash? Time to beat it?
Or was that sarcasm...too tired to tell. :)

Master Johnboy 08-14-2009, 04:20 PM I do want this but
I have a feeling it's going to be short. If the games got decent length it will be a buy.
MercenaryR56 08-14-2009, 05:01 PM Just played through the two challenge rooms they had in a demo at Best Buy. Man, it was very fun, they should have added those rooms to the demo that is on the PSN.

well but if you want to really buy it I would recommend the bundle verison with the watchmen movie on bluray :wink2:  that would be worth the price
Dreaming Ashes 08-14-2009, 08:43 PM Damn Ps3 and their Bluray deals with games! xD Kinda makes me wish I had a Ps3 now.
The demo is pretty sweet, but as all demos, it's only a small taste. I can't wait to start up the full game! I was fairly impressed by the stuff in the demo.
Joker is awesome! xD
