This is a toughy. PS1 had Crash and Spyro, PS2 had Jack & Daxter, Ratchet & Clank, and Ace Combat, and the XBox had Halo 1 and 2. Very tough....

Arrrggggghhh! So hard to choose! Bit of a cop out, but 3 way tie between SNES, N64 and Xbox.

Where the hell is the Genesis? That was the console to own when I was in college. Lots of Hockey and Madden.

You gotta give Sega some love!

I declare this poll a mockery!

OMG! I didn't realise the genesis wasn't there! Genesis is definately worthy. It's my second favourite, next to SNES which is my all time fav.

SNES. Until this gen, that was the LAST console to get me excited about it as it got released.... and the last console to get ALOT of my gaming time on average.

I voted N64. I don't really consider my Xbox "retro" enough for me to consider it old: heck, I haven't even had my 360 for a full year yet...

There were a few games for the N64 that were completely awesome. Zelda: Ocarina of Time is a good one, and the original Super Smash Bros. Perfect Dark was probably the first awesome shooter that I ever owned. And then there was Harvest Moon 64: sure, it was a game about farming, but it was so addicting...

I got my 360 haven't really touched my ps2 since but I have pulled out mario kart and the original Super smash bros. so I think N64 is better plus ps2 isn't really retro I mean they are still selling them in stores.

Star Wars: Battlefronts, Halo 2 and Conkers Bad Fur Day all on one console,
What more could one ask for? :p

Conkers Bad Fur Day

Uhm...
Thats not an exclusive, it was on the n64 too...
So that was 1 gen before the xbox <_<
That game made me lose my childhood innocence.

Why isn't the Dreamcast in that list!!! I absolutely loved my dreamcast. Shenmue and phantasy star online!! as well as the Absolutely legendary skies of arcadia (originally)!! Deserves way more respect than it gets!! I haven't voted because of the lack of dreamcast option and I think you'd guess where I'd vote if I could.

DaDillsta
12-31-2007, 11:41 PM
I say Dreamcast. Got killed by PS2 early on though, it was my first real next-gen I guess. I had a N64 and my cousin had a Dreamcast he never used and I was like hey I'll give you 25 bucks if you can come up with the controllers and inputs and he was like ok, and so my first foray into next-gen was born. Then I got a Gamecube, it sucked except for the few decent gold nuggets (RE4, anyone?), then an XBOX, then I got a PS2 just for Guitar Hero, then this Christmas I got a 360. But I also still have a GameGear, Gameboy Color, SNES, Genesis, all the old stuff, lol.

EDIT: I forgot, I also had a Wii for about three months, it was lame despite what I thought it would be, only a few good nuggets just like Gamecube. I hope its not headed down that path again... I was thinking about picking another one up a year or two from now when they actually get GAMES. xD

PS2, all my favorite games are on that console. I owned a Gamecube beforehand, but the games just weren't to my taste. I quickly traded it in for a PS2, and i am glad i did.

N64's Conkers Bad Fur Day, Zelda Ocarina Of Time, Zelda Majora's Mask, Banjo Kazooie and Banjo Tooie were the best.
Fun Fact:
They are making a new Banjo Kazooie game for 360

DREAMCAST.

QFT my friend QF..****ING..T

but as it isnt there :( i chose PS1, due to the fact it was the start of the best on running console EVER gogo gadget playstation! Oh and it had games like FF7, 8, 9, Vigilante 8 and Second Offence, Soul Blade, Ergheiz, Future Cop LAPD (best game ever me thinks!), Apocalypse, Tekken 3, Die Hard Trilogy, Crash Team Racing (best joke racing game ever, im sorry, but i beats the living crap out of Mario 64), Spyro games, Crash bandicoot Games, Marvel vs Capcom, Medieval 1 and 2 and tomb Raider 2... along with many many more classics, seriously, who could actully beat that many amazing games that everyone should play!

EDIT: if anyone knows where i can get my hands on Skies of Arcadia, i loved that game soooo much, but i havent got it for my dreamcast :( let me know!

Mario 64 and GoldenEye were phenomenal at the time, so I gotta say N64. I grew up in a Nintendo household, and I still break out the NES and SNES on occasion.

NES. It single handedly saved us from the gaming crash of 1984. Legendary.

PS2, it has many games and most of them are good so PS2. But Halo 2 was almost the ultimate killer.

HOW???!! out of the many gamer friends i knew back then, not one of them gave a crap about halo2, and i didnt even know it had been released when it did. How would it be an ultimate killer, when only people with an xbox, gave a shite?

oh and the n64 had mario cart, even though crash team racing is better, mario 64, goldeneye (dont count perfect dark because it was exactly the same as goldeneye, only the multiplayer was worht it), and Ocarina of time, which i found boring anyway, how is it the best console ever? dont understand how anyone came with this conclusion. If i went round my mates who had an n64 we only played goldeneye, as thats the only one worth playing. If he came round mine, it was crash team racing, tekken, soul blade, gran turismo, future cop LAPD, vigilante 8 the list is endless. So i dont see how 4 games can compete against the hundreds psx had...

Even if it's not on the list, i think i'll have to go with Sega Mega Drive (Sega Genesis), either that or NES.

ReD KiLLeR
02-01-2008, 12:11 AM
Not to be a broken record but why is Sega left off the list? Genesis, Saturn, Dreamcast?

I would say my favorite old console would probably be the Saturn just for Dragon Force alone. That game was awesome back in the day. Anyone else ever play it?

***EDIT: I don't think PS2 should even be on the list cuz they still make a decent amount of games for it. But thats just me.

Definitely N64. I had an SNES, but the N64 is where I really started to enjoy gaming. I found out my favorite games were FPS after playing Quake, Perfect Dark, and 007 series on N64. Also has Zelda: Ocarina of Time which is one of my favorite games of all time. I used to try and beat it at least twice a year.

Overall, I have to say...

VIRTUAL BOY!!!! :D

JK...

In all honesty, I think Id go back to SNES here... last console I had for a long while... and there was a reason for that. Until Metroid Prime, I had no need of an additional one. (At least during it's life)

Gotta be the PS2. It's still living until now and it has a great library of games. I'm pleasantly surprised to see the N64 at 2nd place though. GoldenEye, Perfect Dark, SM64, SSB, LoZ:OoT, and LoZ:MM were all great games for it.
