Well I just completed Dead Space. LOVED IT. I know, i know, its been out a year now why have you just played. Bought it, lent it out(because it was Christmas release time, plenty to play), and just got it back.

THE MAIN POINT: I loved RE5. The whole time I was playing Dead Space I was thinking why didn't RE5 do this for me. And it hit me. I probably would not have liked RE5 as much if I had first played Dead Space. Then I thought hell I have had many good games spoil a game I probably would have liked more if I had played it first. Like Oblivion and Fallout 3. I spent a lot of time in Oblivion and the capital wasteland but I see no reason to revisit Oblivion now that I have Fallout 3.

Are they other games I should try to play before playing another similar? Have you ever been glad you played a game before another?

You should probably try DMC4 before Brutal Legend and Bayonetta arrive, I don't think I've have one of those experiences, I played COD5 before COD4, didn't enjoy COD4 as much

This is a good question. The only example for me that I can recall Is when I bought Rainbow Six Vegas and played it single player and online alot. A little after I went out for Rainbow Six Vegas 2 (The one everyone thoguh was better than #1), and played that as well. Personaly, I enjoyed playing #1 alot more than #2. I most likely would have enjoyed #2 more if i played that one first.

Generally I always try to play previous games in a series before trying the latest one. I've had one exception and that was Fable 2. Played it, loved it and then wanted more. So I decided to buy the original, Fable. It was alright but playing the sequel had spoiled it for me, I expected more Fable 2 but in the end I just got an unpolished old version.

See sometimes it happens like that too. When a sequel just doesn't hold up to the original. Like Halo 2 or 3 after the first one, multiplayer aside, the first halo had a well rounded story. OR for me KOTOR 1 was so good that KOTOR 2 was a huge letdown. Or the Guitar Heroes is it just me are they just "phoning it in" these days.
