So, it's not a character update, but it did give us King of the Hill. has anyone played it yet? I've been distracted by other games, but I'd like to know your thoughts.

King of the Hill is arena done right, IMO. So far I've had fun with it, but I thought the same thing about plr_pipeline, and now I do not like that map. Only time will tell if it will continue to be popular, but so far I'd say it's a pretty good gametype.

Oh, and I love the new hats. I want one NOW! :lol:

lol i have not played anything added in the update but all of the generial fixes are awesome i like the new crit thingy it helps a lot and is fun i also like that after a cap in CTF your whole team gets crits for 10 secs it is fun :) so for what i've played it rocks

Yeah, it's been like that since they first added hats with the Sniper vs Spy update. You have about a 25% chance to find an item every 25 minutes (I think) and an 0.45% chance that it will be a hat (not so sure about this either, but I know it's pretty close). I found 2 hats in two days a few months ago, but haven't found anymore after that. :undecided:

In my experience the drops go as follows #1 Sanvitch 40% (i have 13 of these) #2 any pyro item 30% #3 any other item 20% #4 any hat 10% I have played at least 100 hours since the first hats came with the spy//sniper update and NEVER gotten a hat D:

Yeah, I know PLENTY of people who haven't gotten a hat, too. THIS (http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=936960) is the thread where I got my statistics from.

I haven't had any hats and IMO the Jarate is the easiest item to get i have like 8 of them

yes well i think that getting multiply of the same item is stupid i saw this post (http://www.teamfortress.com/post.php?id=2535) but it still hasn't been implemented (the item trading) I hate it. : (

Does anyone else feel these latest updates have kind of screwed up the game? I don't feel the balance is right anymore and it seems to me that the drops are just... Retarded. What happened to getting achievements for items?

They were trying to make it easier for the newbs, but us veterans seem pissed off by it :undecided:

Anyway I think the weapons should be done by achievement unlock and the cosmetic stuff (hats and other things) should be random drops.

You still get items for achievements. They added the random drop to help curve acheivement servers.

I've played probally about 100 hours of TF2 and still have no hat. Its and i agree sink that weapons should be achievement based as everyone has a favourite class and it gets annoying if you keep gettin weapons for other classes

haha, reimplemented a patch or so ago.

As for balance, it feels fine to me, but I'm not super hardcore at it, so my opinion may not be valid.

They still are acheivement based, but you still get random drops for them so what's the point?

It satisfies both crowds. Those who want to achievement farm can do that, or people who just want to play the game can find the items.

Now, something hilarious came into mind. Someone is achievement farming, and while doing that, the person gets random drops!
