View Full Version : SGCP Sportscast: Breaking News - Favre Signs with Vikings
Paradigm13 08-18-2009, 09:00 PM In a move that only half of the SGC will care enough to say "Huh." to, and will surprise even less people, Brett Favre has signed with the Minnesota Vikings. Of all the records he's broken, the most dubious will probably be remembered as the number of times he's retired and come back to play the next year.
We'll have full coverage of this as a Top 5 item on the next SGCP Sportscast, but let's hear your reactions, insights, rage, or ambivalence. Let 'er rip, SGC!
darkmonk 08-18-2009, 10:02 PM Ambivalence, here.
I think it's a bit douchey that he signed with the Vikings just as a f**k you to the Packers, but he is a great QB, you'll never hear me deny that, so I'm glad that he's still involved in the Big Game.
DeadpoolSkye 08-18-2009, 10:11 PM Please tell me this is a Fiction Tuesday post. I'm almost scared to go to the ESPN site...
EDIT: Well son of a bitch...the little f***er is back. Why doesn't he just stay away...this is the third time he's retired and come back, right?
Balls...

Second, officially. Unofficially the third. Spread the word, the man's nickname for this year is Flip-Flop Favre. Shout it from the mountaintops.
Probably best not to shout it from the mountaintops. That seems unreasonable.

Then don't go! I had a friend of mine call me a few minutes ago and tell my that he signed. He is a HUGE Bret Farve fan. So I say that this is for real.
As for my opinion. He needs to make up his mind of retire or play. He's one of the Greatest Quarterbacks in the NFL, but this I'm retired No i'm not BS is only hurting his rep. Years after he FINALLY retires, people will forget about all of this. I just hope he has a good year ( or Two ). I'd hate to see him come back only to throw a lot of picks!
DeadpoolSkye 08-18-2009, 10:27 PM I respected the guy. He's a great player...and then he pulls this crap. He says he's got issues with his arm or whatever and says he'll never come back because of it...but he keeps coming back...
He's like Nemesis!
ThadimusMaximus 08-18-2009, 11:31 PM What th.. Whos Brett Favre?? How the hell do you say that name anyways?? And what a Minnesota Viking? I thought they came from like New Foundland or the Netherlands or someplace like that..In like 200 B.C Or something.. with Some guy name Leif Ericckson.. is he their "quarterback"? If not.. Im sure he and that Favre guy are the same age.. :D
KumiKaze 08-18-2009, 11:35 PM Well being a Packer fan this is kind of a kick in the face, but I think that is what he intended since Ted Thompson is a little f***er.
But I'm not surprised at all that he is back. I think he just said he retired so he didn't have to go to training camp. He mentioned many times that he dislikes the idea of training camp, so now that it is almost over he decided to come back, which is a little douchy on his part.
Personally I love Favre for all the awesomeness he brought to Green Bay, from the first game where he replaced the injured Don "The Magic Man" Majkowski and came back to beat the Bengals (although not officially his first game) to his last game as a Packer. I will say this though, if the Vikings win the Superbowl I officially quite football because then I know it is rigged.

But you do relize that they now have a chance with a passing game. I do agree that he joined the Vikings to "stick it" to the Packers. He wanted to go to the Vikings when Green Bay said take a hike! So by retiring, then un-retiring, Green Bay can't scream foul with the agreement when they traded him to the Jets.
And I hated his first game! I'm a Bengals fan. But I loved the last game he played as a Packer against them Bengals. He threw 5 picks & we won!
AcesHigh4895 08-19-2009, 12:47 AM I'm basically in line with kumikaze. I love the packers, and Favre needs to cut the shit.

Cam-Dog 08-19-2009, 01:45 AM Big Woop! I hope he breaks his ummm pinky and can play for half the season. I feel bad for the poor soul who gets him in the fantasy draft.
