About the FW 3.00:
The new themes look BA. And the best thing that makes this the best FW by default is.... the contollers battery doesn't anymore cover the clock!!!11!!

And GT5 doesn't have full damage: some cars will take damage and some don't. I read it somewhere, but I can't remember where or maybe I am wrong.

Nah your right. Certain events and what not will not include damage, which makes sense. Still, even if only under specific circumstances, the addition of damage to GT is awesome.

First of all when you have the Logitech wheel, cockpit view is the only way to go in GT5. If for some reason you find yourself playing the game without the Logitech wheel, then go out and buy it immediately. Then play via cockpit view. The game is a sim. The best way to play a sim is as a sim.

Secondly, what's with all the bitching about updates. Waaaa f***ing Waaaaa I didn't get what I want. Waaaaaaa f***ing Waaaaaaa...... Cross game chat would be nice, but the text chat should have been a sign that that feature isn't coming for a long time if at all this gen. They wouldn't have put that time in it if shortly after it comes out, they were going to release cross game voice chat. That would be a waste of resource allocation. Granted Text chat is next to useless, but they wouldn't put time an money into something so useless if next down the pipe was something infinitely more useful. Cross game chat isn't a deal breaker. Their network isn't set up for such things. It isn't unified. The cost in doing it this gen is probably greater than what they would yield from additional sales because of it. It would be a better business move to build up their resources from now until the next gen, and roll it out next gen along with many more improvements all at once. WTF is with the "I want it, so they have to give it to me" mentality. They don't owe you shit. Every time they put out an update that doesn't do what people have rumored it to do, people bitch and moan like their balls are in a vice. Then they proceed to tell Sony what they need to do, like they are some sort business expert. You got your price cut, that you have been bitching about forever and you still aren't happy. I swear that they could buy every PS3 owner a sexy virgin hooker, and people would still bitch.

The main reason that people bitch about the chat thing is that it would make the PSN community that much better and it seems like it would be something easy to implement. It's a fairly simple feature to ask for, not like people are demanding all the features (or comparible features) that a 360 has, just some core features like decent chat system and such. Personlly the people I know on PS3 are old friends and we end up using speaker phone anyway since its better then having a headset on, but it would be nice feature to have. But since it is a free service, we really cannot complain all that much. It will come at some point, but i expect that would be when we start seeing Mtn Dew adds all over the place on our cross menus. Sony's gots to make the $.

sonys statement about PS3 buyers bought PS3's to play PS3 games is so obvious and just rediculous. Of course but just cause its your main reason doesn't mean its the only reason or that it should be the only thing that it does. with that arguement they should strip blu ray support and all the other bells and whistles from the PS3. PSN almost didn't exist when the console released but that didn't stop sony from what is now one of the best download services on a console. Hellooo? FF7? MGS? come on sony, you saw what happened when you finally unblocked those fanboy shrills and you sold a million copies of a 12 year old game.


EDIT: WTF my mag beta key is not working!?!?!? Someone, please prove that I am stupid and just doing it wrong. I haven't had a key work on PSN yet, the only other one I have is Uncharted 2 demo that I read was pushed back so that sort of explains that one.

Gosh, podcast got a bit heated this week - very entertaining amusing and insightful (well Frawls was anyway - who knew!). I know the idea of playing PS2 games on your PS3 seems great, but its really not all that - I've slipped in a couple of the old fellas and 9 times out of 10 retreating to SD is a backwards step... Sure there are some classics and at the end of the day gameplay is a big element of enjoyment, but I think we always look back to past games with rose tinted glasses.

I guess its easy to dog on Sony as backwards compatibility it is such an obvious thing to expect. (Hell Rothbarts back catalogue of PS2 Sing Star is obviously something he wants to enjoy on the PS3 so I can understand his passion). But I can honestly say, as a more conventional man gamer that having had the ability to play PS2 games from day one I've not spent more than a couple of hours on PS2 games. To be honest it's only ever to go back and sell stuff to that charming man in Resident Evil 4 ... "what are ya sellin".

Anyway that's my perspective - out of all the SG community members out there who can play PS2 games who actually bothers?

My PS3 is a launch 60GB model, so I've got PS2 BC, but I wanted to point out that SingStar for the PS3 (which means SingStar, SingStar Vol 2, SingStar Abba, or SingStar Queen) can load and play songs from PS2 SingStar games just fine... they're just audio/video data mostly.

What they NEED to do, and frankly I can't believe they haven't, is create a SingStar downloadable version. Just a SingStar player, maybe toss in one song and sell it for like $4.99 or less. I say this because if you're playing say SingStar 80's via one of the PS3 SingStars, turn off your PS3, then turn it back on to play, it'll boot the PS2 version of the interface (if your PS3 can load it at all) whereas if they had a PSN downloadable version, you could just ALWAYS select that to start playing. And really, with the SingStore, why can't SingStar be wholly downloadable?

One last tidbit... for the guys sending me the Queen jokes when me or my kids are playing SingStar, it'll report the name of the version of the game I originally booted. It doesn't mean I was singing Queen for two hours if it lists SingStar Queen there for two hours. Just a heads up. :thumbsup:

Now I am not sure, but I have been told by people in the know that a number of codes have yet to be activated on their side, which has happened to me before in other betas. Assuming your entered the code correctly and your PSN account matches the region (North America for example) that your code is for, all you can do is wait. Should not be that long.

Either way, I know your not the only one having that problem.
