View Full Version : Sarcastic GamerNights for September
animathias 08-23-2009, 06:38 PM Hi there. That wall of text was quite big, so I spoiled it.
This thread is here to serve a couple very important services. I'm sure you noticed the poll there. If you would like to see the game played in a GamerNight during the month of September, vote for it. I discourage members to vote for every single game, but pick a few. The highest numbers take priority when we're organizing the Official GamerNight, and it gives you guys a visual indication of what games the community wants to play.
For the multiplatform games, don't worry about which platform you're voting for. If Call of Duty 4 or any such game is high on the list, we will do everything in our power to give you an event on the 360 and PS3 (PC if we can find a host.)
Also, if I forgot to add a game to the list, I apologize. Some games slip my mind - especially because I'm currently without a 360 or PS3.
That brings it to hosting. If you're available to host Thursday through Sunday any time in the month of November, you can use this thread to sign up as a host. Currently, the staff will be focusing on one event Friday or Saturday. There may or may not be a UK version of the event, but we're planning it to be the most popular game on both consoles if possible. If you don't want to play that game but would still like to partake in the community GamerNights, you can set yourself up to host.
I would also like to take this opportunity to point something out. If you're not able to host because of a poor connection, I'm sure someone who signed up will be willing to host.
Finally, each week there will be a front page post about the GamerNights, highlighting not only the official event, but any community events set in stone by then. The post will go up on Wednesday afternoon and will contain links to sign up threads (which I'll create unless you want to.) So hosts must be set in stone on Tuesday for that weekend to make the front page.
I think that's everything. Sorry for the wall of text.
Schedule
As events are planned and set in stone, they will be added here.

A game title in italics means that event is the main event of the week, where the staff gets involved.
*= Not set in stone. This usually means I'm building a version of the schedule that I'd like to see to give volunteer hosts an idea of what to play. Volunteer hosts can either choose to host these games, or choose another game from that platform to host (including multi-platform titles.)

Edit #1: Added the schedule you see above.
Edit #2: Added platforms to the events.
Edit #3: Added volunteer host list. You can schedule up to four events across the entire month. When you choose a date/game/platform, reply here or send me a message and it will be updated. First come, first serve gets the most popular days and times. (And with the release schedule this season, games.)
Edit #4: Decided to build the first week of the schedule as I would like to see it. But, if you're a volunteer host and see that asterisk, you can claim that event for yourself and choose any game you'd like from that platform (including multi-platform titles.)
Shane86 08-23-2009, 07:05 PM Did Jax make you put Full Auto on there?
Jus Blaze Man02 08-23-2009, 07:09 PM Good to see Call of Duty 4 is up there. :D

MrSoft 08-23-2009, 07:54 PM It is winning, though :wink2:
That kinda just enforces my point
JaXboxChick 08-23-2009, 07:59 PM Did Jax make you put Full Auto on there?
Nooo the pure awesomeness of the game made him put it on there. Vote for it! At least you know someone who would be playing it.
Harlequin 08-23-2009, 08:05 PM I imagine CoD4 will be on the list until MW2 is released
I will come out of podcasting retirement to talk about that game, even though Jax and Lesley will only humor me for about 1 min on the topic :wink2:
MrSoft 08-23-2009, 08:13 PM Hmmm, I kinda screwed this up, I should have voted for more games that I actually own than just the 3 I most want to play :undecided:
McChiken116 08-23-2009, 08:22 PM I could Host either of the Halo ones.
Iyield2no1 08-23-2009, 08:55 PM I like the poll idea animathias. Can't wait to partake in these Gamernights.
I beat Uncharted 2 will be near the top next month!
BlackCyan 08-23-2009, 10:17 PM I always have to pick Burnout. That game is my not-so-secret same-sex lover.
PikminGuts92 08-23-2009, 11:24 PM I'm willing to host for any Guitar Heroes or Rock Bands, I'm just not sure about my connection.
NeonSkull 08-24-2009, 12:35 AM warhawk would have been nice.aslo socom.
animathias 08-24-2009, 07:24 AM warhawk would have been nice.aslo socom.
 I had Warhawk on my notepad list when I made the poll, but I must have skipped over it. My apologies. SOCOM, I had forgotten about, I apologize for that as well.
AssassinsClaw 08-24-2009, 08:48 AM can probably host Killzone 2 and COD WAW, just depends on when we do it.
also might be able to do Fat Princess or Battlefield 1943 by then, depends on wether i get the money together and buy them off of PSN by then.
BlueDubs 08-24-2009, 09:28 AM I would like a GTA : IV or COD:4 gamernight
photomaster94 08-24-2009, 11:02 AM i can host a fat princess night sometime soon
Raven 08-24-2009, 11:49 AM I could host any of the following games
Halo 3 (all maps)
Halo 3 ODST (preordered with release day shipping)
CoD: 4 (all maps)
CoD: WaW (all maps)
GTA IV (TLAD DLC)
Red Faction: Guerilla
I'm at work so I'll edit my post later with more games I have. Got to love the iPhone.
animathias 08-24-2009, 01:12 PM Haha. Yeah. Browsing the forums on the iPhone is awesome! I'm stoked about the number of people offering to host. Work out the dates you want to play and get back to me!
Iyield2no1 08-24-2009, 01:27 PM warhawk would have been nice.aslo socom.
I agree with Warhawk. Also, what about Red Faction : Guerrilla?
It's okay that the above mentioned games didn't make this months poll. Just add them to next months ( October ) list.:cool2:
ThePianoMan 08-24-2009, 03:22 PM Time dependant and console dependant (only on PS3), I'd like to finally participate in a gamernight, tho I have only the original CoD4 Maps, and the main BP stuff, no expansions, cause my parents are credit card wary, and there are no PSN cards here in the UK :/
And GH:WT, but yeah, looks unlikely
MercenaryR56 08-24-2009, 03:35 PM Would love to see some Burnout Paradise again (since I couldn't make the recent one =( )
I might get Fat Princess eventually, and Guitar Hero 5 gamer night sounds interesting =D
AssassinsClaw 08-24-2009, 04:39 PM Time dependant and console dependant (only on PS3), I'd like to finally participate in a gamernight, tho I have only the original CoD4 Maps, and the main BP stuff, no expansions, cause my parents are credit card wary, and there are no PSN cards here in the UK :/
same really, but i have the first 2 map packs for COD 5, but on the upside looks like PSN cards are finally coming to Europe in September!
SWF Joker 08-24-2009, 04:56 PM has to be the new horde type mode in odst
Raven 08-24-2009, 06:34 PM I work Saturday mornings (6 a.m.- 2 p.m. or 7 a.m.- 3 p.m. est) so I can host every Saturday night in September. For the games I'm still hammering out which game for which date however.
animathias 08-24-2009, 06:35 PM I agree with Warhawk. Also, what about Red Faction : Guerrilla?
It's okay that the above mentioned games didn't make this months poll. Just add them to next months ( October ) list.:cool2:
I could've sworn Red Faction was on there. I remember being irritated about the spelling of Guerrilla  My bad. I didn't want to make the list too big, but I suppose I could've left out things like Madden and the NHL games. I especially could've left Champions Online off, but I thought some people might be picking it up and would like to get together on it.. I think I was wrong
Oh well, like you said, yield, this list is a work in progress. Popular games will show themselves on October's list, and the less popular games that get a minority of the votes (or zero) will be taken off, locked in a closet, and shunned.
animathias 08-24-2009, 06:48 PM I would like to point out something. I do have both Halo 3: ODST and Halo 3 on the list. We all know that ODST's multiplayer is just Halo 3 multiplayer. The difference is, it's the entire package. I know that ODST has a "Firefight" mode for 4 players, but for an official event, we'd like to delve into the multiplayer itself.
So, if we do have an official GamerNight for ODST, I don't see any reason why Halo 3 players with the additional content can't join in. It's only on the list because it's a new release. I'm sure there will be plenty of people picking it up and it will be their first time playing Halo online with all the content.
Raven 08-24-2009, 06:58 PM When do you want the schedules in by?
I'm thinking of doing ground war on CoD4 or CoD5 and doing SG vs. the World. Ingame clan tag < SG >. I'd like to see which night though would be the best for it.

I wouldn't mind that setup although I would probably end up being the world since I don't speak too much.
Purple Demon 08-25-2009, 03:14 AM I voted. Missed out MW and WaW 'cause I don't have them, and I don't know if I'll be picking them up over the next few weeks. Doin' my best to pick up ODST though.

I'd like schedules to be in by the Tuesday night of that week, so I can include it in the front page post on Wednesday.
If you want to schedule it earlier, you're welcome to set your own dates and times in stone as soon as the monthly post goes up.
I would like all the events to be centered around Friday and Saturday, but Thursday and Sunday are quite fine as well. Other days of the week are possible, but turnout may be low as personal schedules are usually full during those days.
I voted. Missed out MW and WaW 'cause I don't have them, and I don't know if I'll be picking them up over the next few weeks. Doin' my best to pick up ODST though.
It doesn't look like Modern Warfare is having any issues staying towards the top of the list, so I imagine we'll be playing that most of the month in community nights.
rothbart 08-25-2009, 11:26 AM Crash Commandos should be on this list, stat!

Anywho, you're an admin. Can't you edit the poll, add Crash Commandos to the list, and give it a 100% score?

fyremakyer 08-25-2009, 04:36 PM I would like to see TF2 for PC up there although the steam group probs will play it anyways
animathias 08-25-2009, 04:41 PM I would like to see TF2 for PC up there although the steam group probs will play it anyways
I did consider putting PC titles on the list for a while, but in the end I just decided to list new releases. One thing I've noticed is that the PC community is pretty tight and will play together quite often without interference. I'll be adding new releases to the list to get the initial community interaction going, but as far as getting a group of buddies or community members together to play, I don't think it gets simpler than the PC, and any major organizing isn't needed.
Raven 08-26-2009, 05:09 PM Here is just a rough schedule of what I was thinking of. I can easily change this if it has to be changed or a different game is needed. Note all are 360.
Event: SG Versus the World
Date: 9/5/09
Game: Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
Time: 8 p.m. est
Description: We all use the clan tag in game < SG > and play and series of different ground war matches (meaning switching lobbies every 6 or 7 games or so) This lets us get xp to prestige as some people *looks at self* only decided recently to prestige. Ground war will let the entire xbl party be on the same team.
Date: 9/12
Game: Red Faction Guerilla
Description: Explains itself. Red Faction. Explosions. Shooting. Enough said.
Event: SG Versus the World version 2.0
Date: 9/26
game: Halo 3 ODST
Description: Same as the first one but with Halo. Social Big team or maybe some custom matches and modes.
EDIT: 9/19 is my mother's birthday so I'm still trying to find a way to help throw a party and a gamernight. I'll see if I can find a way.
animathias 08-26-2009, 08:44 PM @Raven: Dude, that looks amazing. Don't worry if you can't get something together the 19th, family first. I like that SG vs the World idea, and I may hop in for a few matches myself (if I can tear myself away from Guitar Hero or Batman.)
I'll go ahead and throw your stuff on the schedule, leaving everything besides the first week in the "planning" stage.
Edit: Schedule has been updated with Raven's submissions, and it's looking quite good and robust so far - and that's without the main events which will start to fill in soon (I hope to get the first one in stone before PAX, then we can worry about the other half of the month.) Keep planning your community events, guys, and we can be playing all month long.
animathias 08-29-2009, 03:16 PM i can host burnout paradise X360 almost any time in september... hit me with a date if you are interest.
i would also like to play a tf2 x360 gamernight... if anyone wants to play, i would be happy too...
The only reason TF2 for the 360 isn't on the list is because there is only a certain group of people who love to play it. I'm certainly planning on doing a TF2 night before the big multiplayer games hit in November. TF2 rocks.
strika234 08-29-2009, 11:54 PM I will definitely do TF2. However, I'm up for most big games as well.
when they do update TF2 for consoles, we must play it.
NeonSkull 08-30-2009, 05:56 AM Sign me up for some crash commandos.
Vinc3nt 08-30-2009, 05:13 PM I can host gamernights on the ps3 if needed.
Call of Duty: Modern Warefare and World at War are both fun games for gamernights but I prefer games like Burnout Paradise or Killzone 2.
McChiken116 08-30-2009, 05:15 PM I can host about three different things halo wise. I can do us Vs. the world, FireFight, Or custom games.
animathias 08-30-2009, 09:00 PM Alright, folks. The Tuesday deadline for the first week of September is approaching. Here's what the schedule looks like so far:
Fri, 9/4 at 7 CST: Guitar Hero 5 (360. Host: animathias (http://forums.sarcasticgamer.com/member.php?u=624))
Fri, 9/4 at 7 CST: Guitar Hero 5 (PS3. Host: PikminGuts92 (http://forums.sarcasticgamer.com/member.php?u=5548))
Sat, 9/5 at 7 CST: Modern Warfare (360. Host: Raven (http://forums.sarcasticgamer.com/member.php?u=2154)) SG VS the World!
We have plenty of room for UK events, but a PS3 Modern Warfare event would nicely compliment Raven's game on Saturday night.
If you want in on the hosting action, be sure to let me know by 10 pm CST on Tuesday night!
rothbart 08-31-2009, 05:53 PM I'm not sure I like the odds on "SG vs The World"...
Raven 08-31-2009, 07:24 PM I'm not sure I like the odds on "SG vs The World"...
Ouch. That cuts deep.
wildbanshe 08-31-2009, 07:53 PM SIGN ME UP! I can host a fat princess or WaW on PS3 on fridays or saturdays depending on the time
Raven 08-31-2009, 08:04 PM what is SG vs the world?
Good question good sir. It is quite simply an idea I though up of when I was playing CoD4 ground war. I remembered Halo's Bungee vs the world and thought I would host ground war (8 SG people including myself) in a series of ground war matches against an opposing team of non SG people
I modified it with social big team when Halo 3 ODST comes out.
Raven 09-01-2009, 03:45 PM cool. who is in the SG team?
So far just me since I'm hosting. We'll see who else once the gamernight signup thread gets made.
animathias 09-02-2009, 07:43 AM Well, I made a slight mistake. I was supposed to buy Guitar Hero 5, but it looks like if I do, I won't be able to pay for my car insurance. So, I'm not getting Guitar Hero 5.
I'll see if I can't rent it, but right now it looks like I won't be able to host a GH5 event. I could do something like CoD4, but I don't trust my connection to host that. I do think I'll join Raven in his SG vs the World, though.
animathias 09-02-2009, 08:00 AM Alright, folks. Here's the schedule for the Week of PAX. I apologize for not being able to host my first week back, but what can you do? I only own 3 multiplayer games: RB2, GH:WT, and CoD4. But enough about my inadequacies. PikminGuts92 (http://forums.sarcasticgamer.com/member.php?u=5548) and Raven (http://forums.sarcasticgamer.com/member.php?u=2154) stepped up to do what I couldn't and are each hosting events this weekend! Click on the game name to be taken to the sign up thread. Pikmin and Raven! Be sure to let me know if the thread needs edited for any reason.
Week of 9/2 (PAX)

wildbanshe 09-04-2009, 02:45 PM I noticed there was a gamer night for Red Faction, but only for 360. I want to host one for the PS3 if you end up doing it. I'm here most fridays and weekend so just tell me if you need a host.

animathias 09-05-2009, 09:31 PM well hopefully when the time comes, Ani should be posting this on the front of the site along with any other nights that are going on.
right Ani?
Yup, it's on the list. When that Wed comes around, it'll be on the front page.
ok, gonna host burnout paradise on 9/18 if that is ok with you ani?
That's great. I've added it on.
AssassinsClaw 09-06-2009, 07:48 AM Yup, it's on the list. When that Wed comes around, it'll be on the front page.

Sweet!
animathias 09-06-2009, 08:45 PM ok, i see you still need a time... about 8 pm GMT ok with you? dunno what that is in american though.
That'd be 3 EST and 12 noon on the Pacific Coast. Bumping it up a couple hours may let US folk in after school/work, but then again it's Burnout Paradise, so I'm sure you can get a full room going with that one American who feels weird and out of place. :)
I'll put 8 GMT down, if you want to change it, let me know.
MercenaryR56 09-06-2009, 09:16 PM I should be able to make Burnout Paradise on 9/18. Depends on wether or not my school's Varsity football team is playing home or not. If they are playing home, then I won't be back home til 9:30 EST or so.
I really need to get more of the games on that list xD
So, seeing as there is new L4D content coming out and that the game is just plane awesome, may I suggest an XBOX 360 L4D night? My only request... we try and do it between the 14th and the 24th of this month (bachelor party and wedding at the end of the month). Let me know if you need a host, I will gladly do it.

That's the magic of the GamerNights, my friend. If you're willing to host a L4D night, then bygone it, we'll do a L4D night :w00t:
Go ahead and pick a day towards the end of that week time window, choose a time, and I'll take care of everything else - you'll just have to send out game invites.
Raven 09-10-2009, 10:09 PM in light of the recent arguments in the lobby and the "collapse" of SG, will the nights still be on?
I'm still doing Red Faction whether SG is standing or not and I will be doing Halo 3 ODST on the 26th. I'll do it via twitter if I have to.
bug05 09-15-2009, 11:58 PM How about a Socom night for the PS3?
DarkPhoenix9000 10-02-2009, 11:05 AM What's gonna be the game night for tonight? Not been to one before and I'd really like to get involved in the community
