Everything that works with vista works with windows 7. Add XP mode and you've got a killer machine in your hands.
For those still skeptical about 7, let me just say that the beta for windows 7 had less bugs than vista SP1. I tried the beta for windows 7 and have been using vista for a considerable amount of time(1.5 years). And right now the windows 7 final is working like a charm on my machine, and most games work as good as XP if not better. Did I also mention the insanely fast boot time?

Can't wait for this, as I will be installing it on my shiny new Spinpoint F1, instead of my 4 year old generic hard drives.

Well then I guess I will also be moving up to win7 then if all vista games work on win7. I also did a bit of researching and I saw that some games on steam already support windows 7 like champions online.
sink257 09-06-2009, 01:27 AM You can always take a look at Steams Hardware survey and see what OS is popular etc. Unsurprisingly, Windows 7 has 8.5% of the OS share even before its release.

And to OP, please elaborate which games you're having trouble with :S
Paladin58 09-06-2009, 02:52 AM Speaking of Win7, does it put less of a load on your hardware to run, or is it about as bloated as Vista, but now with purpose?

Yup it does have less load on system, and it scales well on crappy systems too (it runs on netbooks!)
sink257 09-07-2009, 08:56 AM is the thing micro$haft put in to spoil it still in? apparently, you can only run 5 applications at once if you have the netbook version...
You're wrong and hopelessly out of date. First off it was 3 apps. And secondly they removed the restriction back in May.

why would you even want the netbook version?

Did you ever think that maybe he has a netbook? He wants to put the netbook version! Simple as that.

My apologies. I always assumed he had a desktop (for no reason, really). I didn't know people actually bought netbooks, I've never seen anyone with one in RL.

Well if hewas talking about a desktop I would have lol'ed at him also for thinking of putting a starter version on a desktop.
sink257 09-08-2009, 02:11 AM Unfortunately the starter version is only available thru your netbook manufacturer, so you gotta contact them.
Cook, here in asia, netbooks are the shit, in accordance with people's love with everything small.

So you must be a hit with the ladies, eh? ZING.
/Serious: Ah, I see. They've yet to catch on, here in America.
Granite 09-10-2009, 11:56 AM They're reasonably popular over here, they're essentialy the choice of people who need to surf, but don't want to actually have a computer.
Oh, and another vote in favour of Windows 7. I've been using it since beta back in... ooh, April? It's much faster and more robust than Vista, not to mention far less irritating. As for compatibility, the only things I've had trouble with is the stuff that XP would have problems with. I can't think of anything I've got on Steam that hasn't worked, for example. Hell, a lot of my old DOS based games work better under 7 than they did under any Windows operating system.
kbknigon 09-13-2009, 12:16 AM Yeah, agreed completely. Win7 is the best thing that's happened to my computer. Great, great operating system, and most games work perfectly.
sink257 09-13-2009, 01:20 AM [...]and all games work perfectly.
fix'd
