Ok so since I am new to building computers and picking out the correct parts I thought I would ask for help in writing a how to guide. I was thinking of getting a few people to help. Each person would be responsible for writing a section on a certain price point. For example person A would be in charge of writing the budget section. Person B would be in charge of writing the mid range area pc etc. The people involved would have to keep their build updated with links to the parts and links on how to put those certain parts together to build up to the final product. So what do you think? I would like to split the sections up into at minimum of 3 price ranges. And if we get enough people to help we can split it up even more. For example a 500-800 price range then a 800-1200 price range etc. Let me know what you guys think and if you want to help post here and we will go on from there.

Great idea but this is easier.
Tom's Hardware. (http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/system-builder-marathon,2315.html)
With a 600, 1300 and 2500 price point computer. Updated almost quarterly with new prices and components.
Maximum PC (http://www.maximumpc.com/article/features/dream_machine)
Again with three different price points (low, medium, high).
Not tryin to shoot ya down or anything as this would help a lot of people but these links cover it i think. Just check those sites home pages once in a while to see if they updated them. Those articles always get front page for a couple days.

I already knew of those but I wanted it to be easier for anyone in the SGC by giving them a direct link in this forum.

The thing about it is, parts are upgraded so frequently that it's be very hard for us to keep an ongoing list. But more power to you if you get this going! I, for one, can't help. Sorry mate!

So you want some sort of sticky at the top of the forums or it's own page or something? I would be willing to contribute if we got one going. I stay pretty in touch with the PC world in as far as new hardware and what-not so I could an updated guide going for the most part.
In the mean time, those links I gave are pretty good for anybody out there right now.

Yea I am hoping to get a sticky out of this. Like for me when I first started building my pc I didnt know tomshardware.com had a guide and stuff and I was asking alot of questions here and taking up time. If we do a good thread and make it sticky itll save alot of people countless hours searching google and websites for stuff they might not know much about.

Well you figure it out, get it approved and I'll gets to typing when it's ready to go. I take it I can edit my own posts that are stickied(if this happens), so I can keep it updated, correct?
What price point ranges are you looking for? Also, just because I think it would be fun, I can also keep an unlimited budget rig. The kind of pc that is all just top of the line rediculousness.
