So Summer Games has ended and December is oh-so-far away, so I figured out something else to keep the community on fire and at each others throats to pass the time!
Duels!
That's right. I'm literally figuring this out as I write this, but lets get some good old fashion 1v1 action going down, and we're going to let you guys be in charge of them!
Can't be around for a Saturday afternoon? Fine, schedule it for Tuesday at 3 AM Icelandic Standard Time. It doesn't matter, whenever is great!
Bottom line, we pick a game once or twice a week, and then, if you have it, get out there and challenge someone to a match! You win? You get bragging rights and we keep a tally of your score. Who knows, that might be worth something some day, but I can think of some wicked threads getting started over this.
Oooh, I'm excited already. This could be good fun.
BEFORE we get started, I want to hear ideas from the community. A few thoughts.
1) It's going to be up to the two players to control and monitor their own play. If there's any kind of "I-won-no-he-didn't" bickering, then I can just count the match as null and void. Be big boys and work it out at the ground level. I will start monitoring people who suddenly start disconnecting out of games/being in the middle of disputes, etc.
2) Games can be across the board. It started with the idea of Duals of the Planeswalkers, and then branched out to sports and fighting games, but I'd like to get some leaderboard action across FPS games, etc. I'm all ears to hear some examples. If you don't have the game, don't sweat it, throw out suggestions in the thread and we'll get to one you do have. You will be involved!
3) There will be a maximum number of matches you can do in a week. One win in Street Fighter match does not count; it's the person who wins the most matches in that series that matters. Whoever wins the most (of the two dualists that day) wins that point. So you can't rack up 10 quick wins against a bad player, you would only get one point for beating your opponent.
I'm not sure what other loopholes are available for people to use and abuse, but let's give this a whirl and see where it goes.
Any suggestions for this series, PLEASE add them here. This includes games you want to see on the list. I'd like to kick this off next week.
We will be choosing a PS3/PC/360 per week, and if there are enough people, even the Wii. Again, the nice part about my not having to be directly involved, is that it's on YOU to provide your own software/hardware!
