This thread is not necessarily for saying whether Orcs & Elves is bad or good, its about the fact that a wildly popular cellphone game has been adapted for a handheld with decent results. This could spawn a new age in gaming, where there are cross-platform ds and cellphone games, which could be good or bad, depending on your point of view. It could cause the psp to sink into the fiery depths of oblivion, for it would have less games and little cross-platform compatability. So what I'm saying is this- this will start a new era in gaming. Sorry this is so long.

Or this could spawn a new age of gaming in which the handheld market sinks into disrepair, mediocre titles abound at every corner, and the cellphone gaming market gains popularity, with smash after smash hit title, and finally one of the signs of the apocalypse, the mobile phone gaming market finally reaches a higher revenue then the handheld market. Just saying, :P

you do know this isn't the only Cell to DS port, right? There was one a little while back except it was mediocre

I picked up this game on vacation so i would have something to do while i was sitting in the hotel or before bed, great casual game for the ten to fifteen minute game session but also can keep you up till three in the morning getting stuck on a part

I have a Orcs & Elves DS. I won it from GamePro with the game.

Please explain to me how making crappy ports of mediocre cellphone games to handhelds is the new era in gaming?

It's far from crappy. It may not be fir for the DS but I had big fun playing this on my palm treo phone. That & the Doom RPG =P. It's pretty much doom with a wand & ghost vikings heh. It's been awhile so I don't fully remember.

Okay, someone explain Orcs and Elves to me. It looks like a pretty interesting dungeon crawler, from what I can tell?

Basically its like Doom only with some strategy burned in. You take a step and your enemies take a step. Its turn based but moves rather quickly. You get spells, swords, and potions to use on monsters but not many of any of them.

My main problem with the game is length. It is very short and gives you no reason to play through again.

Not many spells or swords? Screw that, I'm finding something else. :D

There are spells and swords but in the second one, you get a rat and more stuff. It's a good game but i dont see the point of paying £30 for a port of a good phone game into a crappy DS game. I don't see the point of buying a DS port when I can buy 1&2 of Orcs and Elves for a third of that! You should get it ploogle. It's worth the spend. It goes on for a few hours but thats about it. The second one is longer and much better.

On the cheap ass gamer forums they say that you can get the game for 9.99 new at gamestop. It is an in store only deal and it is still listed as 19.99 on the gamestop website.

I haven't played it, but if I can get it for ten bucks why not.
