View Full Version : ZOMG!!!! Help Me!
TheStonedSheep 10-06-2009, 01:12 PM CBA trawling through the PS3 support site will you do it for me, please?
When I switch on my PS3 the light goes green, then yellow and starts flashing red, it not over heated and I've tried unplugging it.
Cheese 10-06-2009, 01:14 PM Could you possibly have the YLOD?
TheStonedSheep 10-06-2009, 01:19 PM Not the YLOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why? Oh why!? Just as I got Batman: AA!!!
*Sobbing* Why is life so unfair?
*Adopts fetal position*
Nightkiller93 10-06-2009, 01:34 PM Yeah, i just got it a couple of days ago too. What model do you have?
Cheese 10-06-2009, 01:38 PM Tons of people have been getting it in the last month. I know 2 people who've had within the last month and there's been a few complaint threads about it by SG'ers.
TheStonedSheep 10-06-2009, 01:46 PM the original 60Gb one. Calld Sony, may have to get a new one, gonna be sad to see my ol' one go.
PopTrogdor 10-06-2009, 02:04 PM it's basically the launch PS3's that are going, and there is no one fault that can explain it. The yellow light only comes on which means that one or more of any number of parts has broken.
if you don't have a warranty, i do believe it is like £120 to get it all sorted out for you
TheStonedSheep 10-06-2009, 02:07 PM Yea atm I'l leaning towards getting one of the new slim ones
Cheese 10-06-2009, 02:08 PM Get a 360 with the money instead.
TheStonedSheep 10-06-2009, 02:13 PM Nah I'm too much of fanboy for that kind of behaviour
PopTrogdor 10-06-2009, 02:19 PM Get a 360 with the money instead.
ha, why, so that can break on him within a week? That's probably the worst idea ever
rothbart 10-06-2009, 02:20 PM Tons of people have been getting it in the last month. I know 2 people who've had within the last month and there's been a few complaint threads about it by SG'ers.
Tons? Wow... ;) lol.
My launch unit died recently... no yellow light though. I get my replacement tomorrow according to UPS.
PopTrogdor 10-06-2009, 02:21 PM apparently 0.5% of all playstation 3's sold is tons rothbart :P
rothbart 10-06-2009, 02:22 PM the original 60Gb one. Calld Sony, may have to get a new one, gonna be sad to see my ol' one go.
Out of warranty repairs are only $150 (in the US), to keep that functionality, I would think that a wiser investment than paying DOUBLE for a brand new (but lesser featured) machine. That's just me though... hell, you could get it fixed for $150 and then sell it for MORE than $150 and buy a slim if you're THAT set on it... Imjustsayin'...
TheStonedSheep 10-06-2009, 02:22 PM The almighty Rothbart, do you posses the power to heal my PS3?
(Just read Clap 4 Don Marco's History of SG)
Shane86 10-06-2009, 02:22 PM *Hugs 60GB back compat PS3* I'll never let them take you!
rothbart 10-06-2009, 02:25 PM apparently 0.5% of all playstation 3's sold is tons rothbart :P
LOL. What's 33%+ of all 360s sold? Oh, it's reality.
TheStonedSheep 10-06-2009, 02:33 PM Snap. . . good thing Xbots don't come anywhere near the PS3 forum area.
Cheese 10-06-2009, 02:39 PM Tons? Wow... ;) lol.
My launch unit died recently... no yellow light though. I get my replacement tomorrow according to UPS.
5 people that I actually know getting the YLOD in a month counts as tons to me, yes.
PopTrogdor 10-06-2009, 02:49 PM LOL. What's 33%+ of all 360s sold? Oh, it's reality.
ouch, i felt that burn all the way across the ocean :O
Ha shane, im totally with you on that one, although, i actually have my PS2 standing right next to my PS3....hmmm
Spcjdavis25 10-06-2009, 08:13 PM Can you access the ps3 recovery? try these steps:
1. Turn off Playstation®3.
2. Hold the power button down; the system will turn on and turn off once again.
3. Once the System has been shutdown, re-press you finger until you hear 2 consecutive beeps
4. When you hear the 2 beeps take finger off power button.
5. You will be prompted to plug in your controller via USB and then hit the PS button
6. The Recovery menu will pop up.
Be warned that if you choose the command to restore the PS3 system, it will delete all data off of the system. You'll lose any saved games, downloads, and anything else that you put on your system after you got it out of the box
MrWooT 10-07-2009, 05:25 AM Mostly the 60GB original model that gets the YLOD. Because all my friends that got the MGS4 80GB bundle with me are still happy with our ps3s.
instant 10-07-2009, 09:22 AM umm is it the 60Gig SKU's that are the most prone to bricking? because I have an 80Gig version and it would break my heart to send it away
jizzy6879 10-07-2009, 09:34 AM if you got a extra hard drive you might want to check that. it gave me the cant read hard drive or nothing at all so i freaked out and just bought a 320gb and that worked for me.
gliff159 10-07-2009, 08:20 PM LOL. What's 33%+ of all 360s sold? Oh, it's reality.
really? and tell me where did you pull this stat from? i would rather my 360s break a couple times and get repaired for free than have to pay $150 for sony to repair (hasn't happened yet)
Parky105 10-08-2009, 10:57 AM my release PS3 still lives, mwuhahahah!!
PopTrogdor 10-08-2009, 11:25 AM really? and tell me where did you pull this stat from? i would rather my 360s break a couple times and get repaired for free than have to pay $150 for sony to repair (hasn't happened yet)
the RROD isn't the only major flaw in the 360 hardware, and that is the only thing microsoft cover for 3 years without a paid warranty, everything else, you will have to pay that much for too.
BabyWithSwitchBlades 10-08-2009, 12:22 PM Here try this its one way that might fix your problem. PS once you do this it will erase your hard drive but you can re download everything you lost in your download list in the PSN store. Here is the help video
