Right, delayed quite a bit (college work, and I lost my iPod ) but I can finally give you my review of the episode.

The NFL stuff, I kinda tuned out as I'm British and don't follow it at all, but the Shift/Burnout/Forza/SplitSecond stuff I couldn't agree more with. Hot Pursuit 2 was one of my first games as well, and I loved it. I was a massive fan of the NFS games up to Most Wanted, after which I think they've kinda gone downhill. Burnout Paradise I absolutely love, but as for Forza, I've never played 1 or 2. PGR4 is the only track racer I've played a lot of. Split/Second... man that game looks good. I'm gonna do my best to pick that up, and I have high hopes for it. And Hatakraa, I agree. The smash things in Most Wanted were awesome.

The Serena Williams stuff, I have to disagree with Hatakraa. I'd probably go with the fine. The NBA/NFL stuff, as I've said, I don't follow so I can't really feedback as well. FIFA 10 though, that demo was indeed great. I could spend ages counteracting Paradigm's beef with soccer, but I'll save that for another time

As with the baseball stuff, my Britishness holds me back 'cause I don't follow it at all. Despite that though, it was still a good listen which surprised me. And besides, as you guys are the only income of American sports news I have, you're doing a pretty great job.

Overall, I think you compensated well for Thad's absence, and well done for a very funny episode, and keeping my attention despite referring to NFL/NBA quite a bit deserves kudos too.

Got behind in my podcasts, finally caught up with this one.

Grade the trade... "Denver got the shaft in this one".. hard to say that with them being 5-0 with a chance to go 6-0. Bears are playing well too, but they have now dropped two.

Seems Denver may have gotten the better trade, at least in the short run.

Don't play many race games, and not really looking forward to any, but if I had a setup with three/four screens, I'm sure they'd be a lot more exciting ;)

As for Serena, I think her penalty was fair, especially as she lost the match due to the reaction. She definitely over-reacted, but bans? A bit extreme, I think. Community service would be fair as well, she knows she was wrong in her reaction.

As to the Madden curse, hope only Palamalu suffers this year, I need Fitzgerald to stay healthy all season, have him on both of my fantasy teams ;) And not sure Favre suffered anything horrible with the Jets (Well, unless being on the Jets is a curse itself), and it wasn't really a 'horrible' year either. He had a 65.7% completion rating for just under 3500 yards with 22 tds and 22 ints.

The Jets just had a suspect line and defense last season.

Haven't played an NBA game in many years. But definitely agree on not buying sports games every year. Depends on the game, I'll often get every other year or longer unless there's a really promising upgrade/change.

"just can't get into a game in which you can tie someone" ... you can tie in almost every sport, except Baseball pretty much. Sure, most sports don't have as many draws as soccer, but they have them.

Ichiro is a beast, and were he on a great team, I'm sure his stats would be even better. But you're right about his speed being a major factor, but speed is not too useful if he weren't able to hit (unless they bring you in to pinch run)

Ochocinco can be outrageous at time, but he's great to watch. He also bought enough tickets this week so that the game wasn't blacked out for not selling out.

Overall, another great episode, look forward to the next. Look forward to you guys talking about the Yankees winning the World Series ;)

The Jets just had a suspect line and defense last season.

The defense is debatable but that line was great last year. The 30+ year-old Thomas Jones was the AFC rushing champion and he's off and running again this year. Brett's stats don't look that bad, but that's only because he tore it up in the first five or six games, and then completely fell apart when they needed to seal up their division.

The Jets capped off last year's season with a 5-game stretch that included losses to last year's 49ers, Broncos, Seahawks, and Dolphins. And they eked a win out against the Bills. In all 5 games Brett threw more INTs than TDs. I call that a disaster, man.

Hey, he's an old man, and he was asked to throw the ball upwards of 40 times per game. That's gonna wear you out. Now that he's with the run-first Vikings he'll be much better down the stretch.

Dude, do yourself a favor and check out Forza. As a follow-up to a previous Sportscast story, its awwwesome...

Yeah, these guys on XBL I party up with are constantly going on about how awesome it is. I need to grab it sometime. I'll probably get Forza 3 for Christmas.

Fair enough, but I still think he doesn't qualify as 'Madden curse' material, not that I put any stock into curses anyway.

As for the Jets line, maybe you're right, my recollection of last year's Jets is a bit shaky, but thought Favre actually got sacked a few times (more than he's used to), but that could have actually been another quarterback on another team ;)
