So check it out - I got the YLoD about a month ago... my brother went to Best Buy to asses the situation. As soon as he told the employee about a ps3 - he stopped him and said: "Lemme guess, you installed the system update, and your Ps3 broke?" Brother: "Yeah, how'd you know", Employe: "your like the 100'th person to come here and ask that today." This is my Hypothesis: The GPU had overheated becuase the Ps3 had extremely starkly beautiful things going on in the screen, Thus the Ps3's graphics processor works harder, making it burn up.

Now my brother called Sony and they said that they've never heard of anything like that Before... -__-

They will charge him $150 for repainrs... are you F****** kidding me?...

Sounds like it did. Then again, a lot of people have been getting it recently.

I'd check the playstation forums. You'll get a better idea if a lot of people have had the same problem than you will from some random BB employee.
Also, there's no way to say for sure that the update ylod'd your system. It may have contributed but it probably didn't "cause" it.

Well i guess it never caused it, but what i'm saying is that it's pretty ironic that it just happend like that after the update... no?
