View Full Version : Demon souls VS. Uncharted 2
bunny roses 10-20-2009, 10:10 PM Well, i know you must hate me for this but which do you think is better? Which did you buy, and why you like the certain one you got. You probably know that I hate demon souls (too RPG-ee for a fast paced chick like me) and would choose uncharted any day, also, which will sell more, or continue too have a consistent community?
Kiljoy 10-20-2009, 10:37 PM Demon's Souls is better.
Shane86 10-20-2009, 10:42 PM Got both of them on Monday and have played Demon's Souls much more. It's a hell of a lot deeper than Uncharted 2.
Cam-Dog 10-21-2009, 12:07 AM I dont have the time or discipline for a game like demons souls so i got Uncharted 2. But both are great i hear.

Maybe ill get both. But im getting borderlands .... so i choose that over DS's
TangoMercuryAlfa 10-21-2009, 12:22 AM My opinion? I'd say Uncharted 2 is better. Smashing single player blockbuster with a good multi-player (provided we don't get glitching/lag-switching/cheating scrubs like in MGO).
Did not pick up Demon's Souls because I'm not really into the theme and setting...although good reviews had me thinking.
Why not start a poll in the thread? May give you a better idea.
Cheese 10-21-2009, 03:15 AM Depends. Demon Souls is difficult and that would put a lot of people off but IMO if you can deal with it, it's the better game.
TangoMercuryAlfa 10-21-2009, 03:52 AM This "Demon's Souls" seems to be getting alot of attention. Certainly is a dark horse that slipped below my radar. I might pick it up for the hell of it and give it a go.
Did not think I would enjoy Assassin's Creed, God of War, Fat Princess, Crash Commando, etc., but I've been wrong so far. Heck, I may love this as well.
CayennSG 10-21-2009, 05:22 AM D*mn havn't played demon souls yet. Uncharted is great but I think i have to order demon souls now that everyone likes the game so d*mn much!
TheBrain76 10-21-2009, 08:44 AM I don't have the time to invest in a game like Demon's Souls. I wish I did, but I don't. I won't say that one is better than the other since:
1. I haven't played both of them
2. They're 2 totally different generes
While I'd like to play DS, Uncharted is a great game that just fits better into my gaming schedule.
Exane22 10-21-2009, 09:11 AM They are completely different games and shouldn't really be compared imo. Both are good, and both offer something different. I'll leave it at that :)
Shane86 10-21-2009, 09:36 AM Don't say Uncharted 2 is better until you've played Demon's Souls.
Jia Xu 10-21-2009, 09:53 AM Demon's Souls is something different, while Uncharted 2 is more of the same. Taking everything else out, such as which looks better, etc, that's about how it breaks down. So you have to decide which you'd prefer. You seem to be more of a fast-paced girl (I r observant) so Demon's Souls would likely bore you. You -have- to be methodical and plotting to get anywhere in this game. If you just run in, you will be slaughtered.
8bitBass 10-21-2009, 10:50 AM Nothing has ever matched the emotional impact that demon's souls has had on me.
The tension of getting back to your blood stain where you died in order to avoid losing your souls.
The awe and fear you feel the first time seeing and fighting some of the bosses.
The anguish and frustration you feel when thrust into level 1-1 with no clue what to do.
The alert and tension you feel when your first "black phantom" (a another player) invades your game to hunt you and try to kill you.
The anticipation of the first time you invade someone else's game as a black phantom yourself.
I could go on. Uncharted 2 looks great, but I doubt that it will have the hold on me that Demon's Souls has.

Sadly the black Phantom part fades. I used to be super nervous when I imported it, but now I am cocky and never scared. The only oh shit moments is when I break into a game and the person has friends.
Finch 10-21-2009, 04:32 PM Cant compare them. If you like third person shooter, then Uncharted 2. If you like RPG's then Demon's Souls. Personally, I bought both because I needed a new RPG to play when I wasn't on WoW and Uncharted 2 because I loved the first one.
Both = win.
Gamebler 10-21-2009, 08:49 PM Can you really compare these two games? I mean, sure you could, but they're COMPLETELY different types of games. I'm sure some would say they prefer one over the other, but it's hard to really say which is definetly better than the other. Both games are good, they both have some qualities that appeal to some people, but not to others.

which seems to happen often (when they have friends)
When I black phantom enters a game when I am with 1-2- other people, it is really fun to gang up on him.
Kiljoy 10-22-2009, 08:51 AM If that happens to you just run past them and find the strongest enemy in the level, you can use the enemies to help you out so you have a chance.
Also to all the people saying you can't compare them, the thread is asking for your opinion on which you like better, that is not an impossible question. Just look at both and ask yourself "which was more fun, which did I play more, which will I continue to play more."
PopTrogdor 10-22-2009, 10:57 AM they are two totally different games, one is like watching a really good movie, with action etc, the other is a, what seems to be, a fantastic, hardcore RPG. You so can not compare them.
Way too different in what they offer as an experience

No they aren't, if you prefer one to the other just say so, it's not that hard.
instant 10-22-2009, 12:50 PM No they aren't, if you prefer one to the other just say so, it's not that hard.
preference can only be considered if you're comparing two games of the same genre..
it's kinda like saying which is better, a roast chicken or a chocolate cake..doesn't make sense does it?! one is a main course dish the other is a dessert dish!!

You can compare games of different genres It's your opinion! If you liked Demon's Souls better then just say so, if you liked Uncharted 2 better then just say so. You don't need to directly compare individual qualities. It's not hard people, the only reason you should decide not to give an opinion is if you have only played one of them.
PopTrogdor 10-22-2009, 03:33 PM Well, in Europe, Uncharted 2 is best, as Demon Souls is not out here, and I don't have £50 to throw about to import it
