It was a moment that brought both frustration for Xbox 360 early adopters, and delight for late-bloomers, and tech heads.

The Xbox 360 Elite boasted a 120gb hard drive (compared to the “Premium’s” 20gb) and most importantly, came with an HDMI output.

While many early adopters felt somewhat cheated by this new version of the Xbo 360, it did give the system a more competitive edge when compared to the PS3 hardware.

Oh yeah, and it was (and still is) the only way to get the system in black.

Drool.

Would've loved the 120 HDD - not paying $175 for it now.
Would've Loved black - why white? We gamers dust so often I guess.
My Westy HDTV does not have an HDMI port, but the HDMI would've been nice for when I upgrade to 47".

Yes but that would look embarrassing if HD-DVD lost, so they need to keep it external.

I think microsoft are looking at the blu ray hd dvd battle with a wait and see attitude.
The size of the elite hdd will let you download hd films straight to your 360 that gives microsoft a little extra time to see who wins the hd disk war before they put the winning format into there next console.

Yeah Ive been thinking about this alot - That would be a real revolution if more people had consoles - Imagine no more movies in shops.

Agreed. If you are going to call it Elite then it should be more than just a color change and larger hard drive. Now all 360s have the HDMI port.
