View Full Version : Modern Warfare 2 in UK for £23?!
jai92 11-05-2009, 01:17 PM Well, this is directed to all of the UK based SG community, which is, in fact, the majority of SG.
I have found an amazing deal from Gamestation which means I can get MW2 for only 23 quid! (That's pounds for you Americans)
All you need is 1 copy of a list which includes: Wet, Sacred II, Overlord II, Dirt 2, Smackdown vs. Raw 2010, (and a few others which I have forgotten)
And your copy of Modern Warfare 1. Which most people still have because they play it online. You don't need MW1, but I assume most people have it. If not you can trade in two from the list above or go to your nearest Gamestation and find out the rest to see if you have them.
Went to the nearest cheap game store (not GAME or Gamestation) and got Overlord II for 18 quid. And I already have CoD4, so it's all good in the hood.
And finally you need to pay a fiver. That's it. No catch.
I think I included most of them, but yeah, that's how I'm going to get MW2 for 23 smackers.
TheStonedSheep 11-05-2009, 01:57 PM You have to trade in two games and still pay some money!? That sounds like a ripoff that's taken advatage of MW2 hype.
Purple Demon 11-05-2009, 02:05 PM Or you could rob a bank.
jazzersi 11-05-2009, 02:09 PM Hold on. So you have already paid £18 for Overlord II, your also trading in MW1 which you can trade in for £12 at cex, so thats already £30, and you then have to pay £5 too, which is £35 pound. Not actually such a great deal
zinc136 11-05-2009, 02:32 PM They're doing a deal like this at Gamestop actually I'm going to gamestop today with demonoid. I'm pretty sure it's much different though.
My local rip-off every sort of media store has an offer like that. And I'm not even kidding. You should really reconsider the offer.
LEGEND 11-05-2009, 02:59 PM I paid just £30 for my copy. No gimmicks.
And It's the superior PC version.
Yay me.

As a PC gamer dedicated servers must affect you at least a bit , but would it's absence really make you not buy an AAA game like so many petition happy PC gamers are saying?

No it wont make me not buy it, hence why I just posted that I have ordered it.
For me, it's not too much of a deal tbh. I never really got that into the multiplayer side of MW, and I certainly never joined community's build around dedicated servers so it hasn't really affected me much.
egg651 11-05-2009, 04:48 PM Just thought I'd let ya know you could have done what I will do and get it here (http://www.coolshop.co.uk/catalog/product/58074-modern-warfare-2-%28call-of-duty%29--for-pc) for £24.99
That's a whole 1/6th off!
Brian 11-05-2009, 04:51 PM They did a deal similar to this for Brutal legend. Giant list of games, if you trade 2 in it lowers the price of the game to 20 bucks
Brian 11-05-2009, 04:53 PM Here's the deal for people in the US. http://www.gamestop.com/gs/specialty/tradeins/
Shane86 11-05-2009, 04:54 PM Just buy it in tesco, they'll have it on offer.

£35 as opposed to £45 is, to me, still a good deal. A tenner off is a lot to me.
And I'm still only really paying £23 as I had MW1 as a pressie.
:wink2:
Just buy it in tesco, they'll have it on offer.
Still, this offer will beat Tesco's price, however low it is it won't be less than 30 quid.
Nightkiller93 11-06-2009, 06:01 PM My local GAME is doing a deal where if you trade in COD4 you get MW2 half price!

Awoll SGF 11-07-2009, 10:50 AM I'm a little confused on my £ to $ conversion?
23 Sterling is about 600 Dollars, right?
I might be off by a little...

Cheese 11-07-2009, 11:00 AM 7 euros is like 10 USD RIGHT?
No. This ----->€ is a euro. This ----->£ is a pound. £7 is about $14 roughly.
ThePianoMan 11-07-2009, 11:35 AM wat the f**k is a sterling
Pounds Sterling = £
jai92 11-07-2009, 12:23 PM Pounds Sterling is what the UK uses, as opposed to the Maltese pound which is worth more than the pound sterling
Got it?
And 1£ is $1.6601 (US Dollars), so £7 is $11.62.
