ps3 is hooked up with a hdmi my blu rays are in 1080p but when i play borderlands it drops to 720p why isnt it running at 1080p

Game setting

most games are 720p, you can force 1080p by looking at your display setting and unchecking all the settings apart from 1080p.
me personally i let the games run at what ever setting they choose which most of the time is 720p. I have seen no benifit forcing 1080p if anything it degrades the image but that just might be me.
Hope this helps. pixel junk monsters runs at 1080p, download the demo and see if it runs at 1080 if not you might need to re set up your display settings.

What size is your t.v? I have a 32" sharp aquos and it does this for all my games with the exception of MGS4

That's the basic setting, that's why.

because while it allows for 1080p most games are native to 720p. i asked this awhile ago. nothing you can do but only set 1080p but it wont look as good. the only games that ran native in 1080p for me were MGS4 and Red Faction: Guerilla. the rest is 720p but sometimes 1080i

oooh snap, :lol:, ya you'll notice games on the PS3 are usually only 720p, there was a time the processor couldn't handle 1080p, some development issue, that was when Oblivion came out. Either way your not going to tell the difference.

Well, most games run at 720p but if you change display settings you can try running at 1080p...my t.v does 1080i but it scales down to 720p for some games I was told it was the optimal setting for t.v's in my size range... although it's very hard to tell the difference... good luck :thumbsup:

I have read your post and the problem which you share i think for that you have to change the primary setting regarding the game resolution here so from that thing you can run.. That is the only thing i think so...

i have that very same tv but i'' Sure mine costed way way under yours
