Hey,

As much as I'd love to be in the MAG Beta, I'm not. but for those of you that are... What does it play like? I want to know everything! Controls, lag?, maps, gameplay.

It comes out just before my birthday and I really want it, but I'd want to play it first, which I can't.

Thanks in advance.

Does it have any ACTION GAME-play?

[EDIT]: ****, lighten up.

Ok my opinions on the game. Based on the few matches I've played I think it's pretty lackluster. I haven't experienced lag of any sorts and while the game could be quite fun with a few friends it's not something I'll be rushing out to buy.

The maps are quite big and expansive but you'll often find yourself going down the same path time and time again. It just doesn't have that SOCOM feel of a team all of which using mics kicking ass. The team leader thing is such a fail, I've often had the leader give absolutely no orders leaving the team with no idea what to do or no objective. I can also imagine some 12 year old kid becoming the team leader because he plays 24/7 which both isn't fair and will make this feature useless.

I believe that if you get a coherent team with agood team leader then this game could be very enjoyable but I haven't come across this situation in the 10 or so games I've played.

meh, i don't mind people being sarcastic or trying to be sarcastic, but when someone asks an honest question, somewhere in the post should be an actual reply...

I'd say check out the MAG beta thread for some musings. But i'll give a brief rundown:

Controls: COD-esque in a nutshell. You'll feel right at home with the standardized scheme if you've been playing twitch shooters for a while.

Lag: It runs surprisingly smoothly. I mean, obviously because of the scale it's not the most detailed game in terms of graphics, but it still has a nice coat of paint so to speak. I had previous problems with hit detection (i know i've been droning on about this, but it really can be annoying), which may have been caused by lag. But i tend to think not.

Maps: Large, very large. Massive even. I mean this is both as a plus and minus, if you really want to feel part of a massive battle, this is the game for you. And i like that sense of scale. It can however be annoying because especially if you spawn far, you can travel a long way to get into the thick of the action, only to be killed shortly. Worse still is if you have a squad leader who continually shifts your objective across the damn map.

Gameplay: overall, very satisfying if you're into the class-based, objective-intensive style of play that MAG relies heavily on. There's a nice balance between tactical team play, and individual brilliance which can affect the course of the battle.

10 games is not enough to formulate an informed opinion. I went weeks playing more than 10 games a day every day that it was on.

People do work together for the most part, but of course you get into some squads and nobody is working together or willing to. Turn on your mic and start chatting it up. People come together really fast when that happens. You also then end up meeting cool people who want to play with you. In the endgame lobby you can go to any of the names that were in your squad, and invite them into your group without them being on your friend's list. Example: Just got into a game of Sabotage, and said, "Yo, lets bum-rush the right path from the get go. Throw smoke and we'll over power them." Everyone went along. Even people who weren't paying attention piped up, asking what we were doing. Don't expect teamwork to come together on it's own everytime.

If you take the same path everytime, then you will die over and over again. You aren't going against a few guys. You have a 32, who can watch you repeat your path. Be creative, talk and move with your team. This isn't a game where you can go it on your own. You aren't going to push the lines by yourself. While it controls and moves like CoD, don't try to play the game like it is CoD. I've even had some games where we were defending, and because we were working together to push them back. We had the other team pushed all the way back to their spawn with no way out. f***ing hilarious.

It seems cool, although I dunno if people are going to play this the way the developers intended. I get that you receive exp bonuses for following the leader, but what happens when a whole bunch of people reach the max level? Then there is no incentive to follow what the leader says at all

Nightkiller93, don't take it personally. It's just that i've created threads before about something, and all i got was useless attempts at sarcasm. So i know how it can be annoying to ask a real question and just get stupid offtopic replies.

I realize it's Sarcastic Gamer, but people should just strike more of a balance. that's all i'm saying.

It's Epic for a FPS console shooter bar none. Yes it doesn't have MW2 graphics but it has a solid game play with Massive action. With the 256 players on the play field there is hardly ever a break in the action. You need to have camping perimeter people and runners to hall ass to objectives. All in all I would say game play wise is a mix. The controls are almost exactly Modern Warfare's. The game play is a cross between Counter Strike and Killzone2 with setting charges or defending game play.
Players go down after 3 to 4 bullets hit clean unlike some games where you put 10 in a guy and he FRAG's your ass. All in all this will be a game for those who like Realistic Shooters. If you like running full tilt while Snipping 10 people in a row then buy Call of duty. With out a doubt it's a most buy for me and I would rate the BETA a 9 out of 10.
If you hat on this game you are more of a run and gun kinda guy. If you haven't tried the BETA spend the 5$ at Gamestop to pre-order, and if you don't like it when you get the game return it for a full refund. Only way to find out if a game is good for you is to honestly try it out for yourself.

PS: Go to Iraq and Run into a building with 6 guys and see what happen's. People complain about camping I complain about run and gunners. Check out some sick gameplay.
