As you just herd, demos are up for download for anytime.
But what they didn`t tell you is this is for just thanksgiving and Christmas time.
And as of Nov, 16 the black wiimote controller was release.
How do you fell about all of this.
TylDurden 11-17-2009, 12:58 PM Disk base game downloads or just vc/wiiware?
topgamer95 11-17-2009, 03:46 PM Why in the hell would you only make it so that its only Christmas. That makes no sense. Well, it makes a little sense because between Thanksgiving and Christmas is probably when they make the most money, but at least keep a X-Box Live type system up for the future.
Someone Else 11-17-2009, 08:22 PM I went to the Wii Shop Channel and it said for Wiiware, didn't say anything about disc games.
They have DO have demos for certain DS games on the Nintendo Channel though, and have for a while, so...
TheStealthyDJ 11-17-2009, 10:47 PM One question. Does Nintendo really sound stupider everytime someone opens their mouth? Also I realize stupider isn't a word. I had to make it up especially for Nintendo.
Someone Else 11-17-2009, 11:03 PM They do. Which is a shame because I do like Nintendo, they just... do stupid shit.
At least they're picking up on that people like to try stuff out before dropping a bunch of money.
Diortem 11-18-2009, 11:40 AM I smell beta....
kbknigon 11-19-2009, 06:08 PM Disc demos would get them so much more sales... Some Wii titles that get mediocre reviews (take Deadly Creatures for instance,) I'd really like to play first to see whether or not I like it. I don't always agree with critics, so why doesn't Nintendo try to convince me themselves? It will only make them more money.
Timewarp 11-28-2009, 03:50 PM unfortunly kbnigon nintendo won't do that, i don't know why they don't put up disc based demos becasue i'm sure demos contributes a lot to Sony/steam/microsoft
Ploogle 11-28-2009, 05:54 PM But what they didn`t tell you is this is for just thanksgiving and Christmas time.
Bullcrap. The feature was just launched recently for WiiWare demos, and is going to stay as a permanent feature for certain games. In fact, it's not even really a "feature", it's a separate title altogether, just like iPhone apps that have "Lite" or "Demo" versions.
Unless you can cite a reliable source, I have no reason to believe this.

Have to agree with Ploogle. That feature is here to stay.

I don't think he was being serious ploggle, it sounds like he meant knowing nintendo they would proberly do something like that though i don't think nintendo would have any plans to scrap something that could only benefit themselfes.

It said in the message Nintendo sent out to tall Wii's.

He stated it like it was a fact, and I'm just arguing the validity of that fact.

maybe i just read it diffearntly to you becasue it sounded kinda like, we get free demos but yet again it's gonna last only for december , the guy's obviously new to internet forums as he left an enormous space so give the newbie a break he's obviously in the "my opioun is god" pharse at the moment.
bornforthis 11-30-2009, 02:30 PM If I'm honest, this wasn't really the best way for nintendo to promote their Wiiware titles, the limited time scale makes it awkward for me as I have very little time to game at the moment :undecided:
If nintendo released demos for disc based games (Just like Microsoft and Sony do at the moment) Then maybe they would be selling more of the 'mature' games. That would HOPEFULLY then get some quality titles for the wii.

while i'm being honest i don't think nintendo should bother, most gamers who care about this stuff bought a PS3/360.
Someone Else 11-30-2009, 11:55 PM People who care about trying out a product before wasting money on it if they don't enjoy it?
Then again, if more people had thoroughly tried out the Wii and it's games before buying one, I suppose many of them wouldn't have Wiis now!
bornforthis 12-01-2009, 12:04 PM I didn't play a Wii before I got mine, But i really enjoy playing it. My Mum has bought a couple of shovelware games in the past. But Carnival Games is great fun! I Think the demos would probably sell a few more wiiware titles, so it is a great marketing campaign (apart from the time scale)

Too true, then again i got the wii for super smash bros brawl and super mario galaxy, nintendo should stop using the word super.

And the catogory is "pharses that could lose you all respect from hardcore gamers" AND BEGIN..Urm ok, er....Bobby Kotick is my friend, PC gamers are retards, Console gamers are Retards, the 360 has RROD, the PS3 has YLOD, Carnival games is great fun and for the finnale I wonder when uncle thompson will come back for my soul. Ya get the point. Carnival games is NNAAAAAOOOOTTTT fun, it's terriable crap and is shovelware. Now repeat after me before the emptyness that is carnival games takes over your mind " Carnival games isn't and never will be...FUN" well unless you under the age of 12 and have been know to lose brain memory and is that you? Didn't think so.
Diortem 12-03-2009, 09:21 AM Cant agree about the demo thing.... after all, E3 was where that demo happened.... 2 hour lines to try the system followed by sellouts everywhere.
However, as much as I would encourage demos for the Wii (at the very least, early response might make companies realize shovelware doesn't sell... and give actually good games a chance to be seen over the sea of Ubisoft Imaginze and it's ilk), Nintendo has a very big issue to get past first.... storage space. A single demo could easily take half of it, and until Nintendo can do something better then "well, we will let you download to an SD card and COPY to the memory only when you play, in essence swapping games like you used to carts in the old days," demos for disc based games are simply out of the download question.
Now if they want to offer a service for registering your system where you get a disc in the mail every 2 months or something... or even like they did with Brawl in which games come with timed demos on the disc, they CAN do that.

Just because I enjoy Carnival Games it doesn't make me a casual gamer. In fact I am the complete Opposite. How can you lose all respect from hardcore gamers by stating a fact? The 360 DOES a RROD and the PS3 DOES have YLOD. so why would that statement cause a loss of respect? I have played some AWFUL shovelware in the past and i was just saying that Carnival games is the best shovelware game I have played. Just because the majority of Wii gamers are 'casual' it doesn't mean they would like to 'try before they buy' I agree with Diortem. If they can do it with Brawl, why can't they include timed demos on discs?

I couldn't agree more.
I'm not sure that I like the term 'Casual Gamer'. Just cos I can only manage several hours a week gaming doesn't make my opinions less valuable. In fact I was probably playing games before most people on this site were born.

I can't play more that 1 hour a week but that doesn't make me a casual gamer. If i'm honest the term 'casual gamer' has been made up by gamers to make themselves feel more important. They wouldn't want their grans being classed as a gamer.
Diortem 12-06-2009, 08:22 AM I would personally define just about any game that lets you save wherever you want as casual... since you can play for hours, or for 5 minutes, and still make progress.

Does that make me a casual gamer for using save states in emulators? Lol, these retro games are just too hard for me. :P
Diortem 12-07-2009, 10:00 AM now now... I never defined the player... just the game.... but that's for all those "it's not Halo? Its ****ing casual!" people.
It has checkpoints often enough to be casual too so they can shove it.
spazranger 01-01-2010, 11:09 AM Im sorry to disappoint you ploogle but the "FREE WIIWARE GAMES" as of a week ago, the games that was up was pulled down. NO DISC GAMES AT ALL! for other gamers. the only way now to get the free demos is you have someone on your wii friends list and ask them to send you the stuff. And as for Diortemno, sorry no beta as of i know right now.
And i agree with Someone Else
They do. Which is a shame because I do like Nintendo, they just... do stupid shit. At least they're picking up on that people like to try stuff out before dropping a bunch of money.
And as for TheStealthyDJ, I can say the same thing about the PS3, X-box 360 And the Ipod touch/Iphone

More or less as expected from Nintendo. Also, turn off bold. Thanks.

have a nice day!
