On one hand, you have the Guitar Hero, the veteran of the music scene. On the other you have Rock Band, the rookie with a mean left hook. Ready....FIGHT!

I guess they could just try to out sell each other, it's less bloody that way. Guitar or Drums? Real Who songs or fake Who songs? Either way, looks like it's the gamer that wins, but it's the battle that made it's way to our little countdown.

Find out why this battle made it into the Top 100 after the jump.

If you are a fan of the musical gaming genre, one of these needs to be at your house. (I hope somebody sends me a check for that one.) Which will you choose? If you already have one, did you make the right choice? I hope so.

Sarcastic Gamer made a side by side comparison of the two in order to help you with your decision... or realize you've made a mistake. Check it out. Then check you wallet to make sure you can afford it.

Even with our handy little guide to help you, you may still be a little conflicted. Well you may not be conflicted, but your wallet sure is. What side will you choose?

The Guitar Hero/Rock Band battle for hard rocking supremacy head banged it's way to number 40 on Sarcastic Gamer's Top 100 Gaming Moments of 2007.

I go Rock Band. It's just so awesome having a whole band.

I would get rock band if it weren't for the price point.
I would get it if they included some cake though...
And coke...
And an actual rock star...
And Canaida.

Rock Band to rule them all. Better downloads = longer life

Guitar Hero has the name, and little else. Somehow they managed to take all the momentum from the outstanding Guitar Hero II and snort it up their snooty noses. Rock Band is superior in DLC, on-disc tracklist, and overall aesthetics.

ROCKBAND 2 because of its DLC and GH world tour just has the sound creator which is good but nobody will actually take the time to sit down and write a song thats good

Bought RB1 and will be getting RB2 for Christmas. They were the first to add the other instuments. I bought it because of that, and will just stick with them now. GH was the pioneer, but got beat out of their own product.

I got Rock Band on release day almost as an impulse purchase-I walked into WalMart at 930, didnt' see it on the shelf, overheard an employee telling another one something like "it's back there, we're holding it for you." I asked if they had it,they brought it up and I swiped the plastic. I did have GH2 and loved it, but due to a running dog it was broken (either the PS2 itself was broken or the disk was broken) (anyone need a PS2 GH2 wired guitar?). My wife likes to sing and I like to play guitar, and I wanted to give drums a try and try to get my boy into drumming. Anyway, been playing the crap out of it for the past year. Bought RB2 on release day as well. I like the massive amount and variety and pricing of DLC, I like the flexible band structure of RB2, I like the open tour mode. There are some songs I don't really like, and some I get sick of, but that would probably be the case with any music game.
I will definitely try, maybe buy, GHWT disk only, primarily for the Ozzy tracks, but I'm firmly on RB's side. I think the song creator won't be quite as cool as it's hyped up to be (to be more clear, I think much of the created content will be disappointing.)

actually I have had every guitar hero (except rocks the 80's) and I will have the next Rock Band (once released in UK) so for me no-one wins, cause they both rock (literally)
