Done watching? Ok, good. Now what do you think, is it promoting racism?

While most gamers saw this as just another Resident Evil game with a different setting, several black organizations saw it as pure racist hate mongering. Kym Platt from Black Looks, a blog dedicated to exploring issues concerning African women, had this to say:This is problematic on so many levels, including the depiction of Black people as inhuman savages, the killing of Black people by a white man in military clothing, and the fact that this video game is marketed to children and young adults. Start them young… fearing, hating, and destroying Black people.
Really? Since when is Resident Evil marketed towards children? She makes it sound like this game was made solely for the purpose of creating an army of black-hating children.

Also, last time I checked we’re not living in the 19th century. I may be a huge optimist on this, but I would like to think that in this day and age the human civilization has made huge progress toward being color-blind when it comes to a person’s skin color. I fully believe that this wouldn’t even be a big concern if certain organizations weren’t making a huge deal out of it.

Am I in the minority on this one? Let me know in the comments or forums.

I didn't think it as racist... but I was pretty sure it would get a reception like this. PC gone too far!

This was one of the dumbest things I heard all year.

It was like these groups were searching for something to get upset over.

It's depicting a small group of blacks acting like savages, and somehow they deduce that it's saying that all blacks are savages? Do these people have nothing better to do?

so all zombies have to be white and killed by a white man now?

Its not exactly like you can have white people who are zombies in a game based in AFRICA

I don't know what it is about black zombies... but when ever I see one walking the streets... I lock my car door.

Anyways... I think other racial communities should be happy they are breaking into the zombie market. For so long it has been dominated by whites.

This is not racist, people need to get over it and stop looking for racism, because unti lthey do that their will always BE racism.

Well I totally agree that the game is not racist. But I also totally get why some people are pissed. From an outside perspective all you see is a white military dude killing black people left right and center. And they are made out to be monsters, because their zombies of course, but again to an outsider it is not really a big leap to see some major problems with that.

Video games are a white dominated industry, with very few positive black characters, and it was almost a matter of time before the same people who attack TV and Movies came out of the woodwork to attack games for the same reasons. Even I can see that the trailer was a bad idea the way it was setup.

They are just searching for reasons to cause trouble...I never even would have noticed if it was not brought up.

If a white man kills(even in self-defence) a black man or anyother person of any race it is automaticly a hate crime. Sadly despite what were taught to belive no one is color blind.

This looks to have the chance to get political.

technically in africa this wouldn't be racism. Racism is discriminating against a miniority because of their ethnicity. a minority. now unless my geography is wrong the white dude is the minority. And they are zombies anyway...

I’ve always thought the Resident Evil games have very racist ties. The game started in RacCOON city that had thousands of people. In RE2 there is only one black cop that turns into a zombie so you get to shoot him quickly.

Plus the name of S.T.A.R.S. stands for Serving Towards Anglo Race Supremecy. It’s totally obvious people
