Hey has anyone here ever owned or still own a Neo Geo Pocket? If so, what do you think of it? I'm planing on picking one up soon.
Thanks for the replies in advance.

View Full Version : Anyone own a Neo Geo Pocket? Jestmen 01-04-2008, 01:27 PM Hey has anyone here ever owned or still own a Neo Geo Pocket? If so, what do you think of it? I'm planing on picking one up soon. Thanks for the replies in advance. The Beezs 01-05-2008, 04:48 AM I used to have one when it was first released. Then after a year I sold it. Although it wasn't because I hated it, it's just that no one else had the damn thing and I needed money at the time. For what it was, I loved the damn thing. Good battery life, great colors and a vibrant screen that was easy to see no matter which angle I looked at it. And the games, well, I love Neo-Geo, so I ate those things up like candy. It controlled very well, due to having an analog stick in place of a cross pad. That little feature made the numerous fighting games a great joy to play. Didn't have to worry about missing the diagonal when performing special attacks or maneuvering for a kill strike. The selection of games are pretty much a retooled Neo-Geo library. Samurai Spirits, Metal Slug (which was excellent for the Pocket) King of Fighters, and much much more. There was also quite a few RPG titles, and one that was like pokemon cept it had submarines and customization instead of tiny wide eyed creatures that either made you coo at the cuteness or want to stab something. They should be cheap right now, so you if you could convince a few friends to pick one up as well, then you can have some great fun at a presumably low cost. Oh yeah, and how many other hand-helds have a Fortune Teller feature. Fun stuff to mess about with while in classes. Capcom: Match of the Millenium if you pick up the system; it is, by far, the best handheld fighting game ever made... I might be a little late to this thread, but QFT. The NGPC is honestly my favorite handheld of all time, and it had the highest "great game" to "crappy game" ratio of any console I know of, plug-in or portable. Along with SvC: MotM being likely the greatest fighting game on a portable system, it's got Cardfighters Clash (one of my favorite games of all time, a monster of a card-collecting battle RPG), Biomotor Unitron (an easy-to-follow RPG with big mechs!), Samurai Showdown R-2 (another awesome fighting title), Metal Slug (some of the past side-scrolling platform action available), and... well, pretty much the rest of the line-up. Except Dive Alert. Not a horrible game per se, but not a top-notch title. It's also one of the easiest/cheapest game systems I've found to check out the imports of... the RPGs you might have trouble with if you can't read Japanese (which is a bit of a no-brainer, I know), but with a lot of the games being arcade-style romps it's more than made up for. |
