Mario is to fat & slow to even be able to get to a Star. Sonic can get to anything before Mario can. Mario can't jump on Sonic since he can just go into a spin dash charge leaving Mario is instantly screwed. Mario is pretty useless without any item. Sonic is in much better shape with no items involved. With his spin dash & jump. Sonic is capable of killing things with his jumps no matter what angle they are at. Mario HAS to jump on there heads =). Besides, Sonic is the fastest thing alive =). Mario doesn't stand a chance.
