View Full Version : Another Top 100 Video Games List zeromage 01-23-2008, 12:46 PM Found this list the other day, full of retro games, wondering what you guys think: www.old-wizard.com/top100.htm Artemas 01-23-2008, 01:33 PM How does Ecco the dolphin rank higher than gears of war? It is pretty cool that he mixed the new stuff with the old stuff instead of just makeing the same top number list as every one else. w00t Secret of Mana ranks number 9! NecrisJ1MM 01-23-2008, 03:00 PM How do sports games ever make it into Top X lists? I don't get it. But then again I've never played them, but still... its just a sport on a video game... Other than that, the list is pretty good. Though missing some games I liked, and having others that I didnt, it's alright. iPlayPC 01-23-2008, 07:58 PM Agreed. Some games should have been higher (Donkey Kong at 100? Blasphemy!) and some lower. zeromage 01-24-2008, 12:00 PM Yeah I liked seeing Little Nemo on there. Its always nostalgic looking at these sorts of lists. SpecJoe Magic 02-23-2008, 03:52 AM I don't like it. Mixing the old games with the new just doesn't work. I grew up playing many of those classic games, and I have fond memories of them, but the vast majority of them are pathetic when compared to most modern games. Even the best of the best classic games are only somewhat comparable to today's gaming experiences. Nostalgia plays a huge role in ranking classic games. We like to think that those games are much better than they really are. I've been playing a few of my favorite classic games lately on Wii's Virtual Console. I still enjoy them to a certain degree, but they simply don't stack up to the amazing gaming experiences that we have available to us nowadays. I'm shocked that Duck Tales is ranked that high (35). It's a pretty good game, but this is supposed to be an all-time best list. It's ranked above Knights of the Old Republic, Deus Ex, and God of War! It's not even in the same league as those games. Super Mario Bros. on NES is ranked #2. I realize that it had a huge impact on the gaming industry and modern day gaming owes a great deal to it, but there is no way that it's the second best game of all-time. I could go on and on about this, but you get the point. In my opinion, a top 100 list that contains classics should have only games from the start of the industry up through the 16-bit era. Kage 02-24-2008, 08:48 AM ^ Totally agree. People have fond memories of games, so they like to think they're better than all the modern games that younger people think are clearly better. LEGEND 02-27-2008, 03:44 PM Yeah Fable WTF? And i'd say that Ocarina Of time is the best game ever, not link to the past. SWSilentkiller 02-28-2008, 07:54 AM Yeah Fable WTF? And i'd say that Ocarina Of time is the best game ever, not link to the past. Ocarina of time is the highest rated game ever Jordan the hobo 02-28-2008, 10:57 AM I don't really agree with a lot of things on the list ainly because you cannot mix old and new games. Just like an old man cannot go to school with a 12 year old kid and expect the same from both. iPlayPC 03-01-2008, 07:16 PM I don't really agree with a lot of things on the list ainly because you cannot mix old and new games. Just like an old man cannot go to school with a 12 year old kid and expect the same from both. Good way to say it. |
