I've been debating between the PSP and DS.

DS - For me, I'm not a huge fan of what I've seen on the DS. What games do they have other than Mario games that are so great? Most of their big selling titles are puzzle games or child games. It just doesn't seem to have the titles that I look forward to on the console side. Ninja Gaiden does intrigue me. I like the touch screen but I don't like the games that take advantage of both screens as one because of the gap like Contra. The biggest selling point for me is I know DS will be around for years and they definitely have a huge stock of available games.

PSP - I'm not so much wanting it for the multimedia. I have a Zune for that. But it does have the games that I have grown to love. God of War, Metal Gear Solid, Twisted Metal, Final Fantasy, Madden Football etc. I also really like the potential of the cross functionality with the PS3. But the problem I have is that I'm not sure what kind of legs the PSP has. I'd hate to spend $200+ for something that will be obsolete in a year when a new model is announced with two analog sticks.

So who out there has both that prefer PS3/360 over Wii and what would you recommend to a console gamer?

Oh what to do? What to do?

If god of war fails say bye bye to the psp

I have both but I prefer the psp, but at the end its your choice blah blah blah just pretend I'm saying something profound and choose for yourself.

I own both and say DS hands down. DS is the better gaming handheld. It has alot of software, great battery life, built in mic, and quite a few online enabled games. Get yourself a flashcart and your set for life with a DS. DS + flashcart > PSP.

^ Don't know about that. It depends on what games you like. I've owned 2 DS's and 2 PSP's. There are next to no mature or adult-ish (not dirty) games on the DS. If you like old school graphics, Mario, Pokemon, Nintendogs, Metroid etc.. (kids games) then the DS is for you. Personally I sold my DS's because very few of the games hold any appeal for me anymore.

The PSP has more 'hardcore" gamer titles like Tekken, Wipeout, Syphon Filter, Grand Theft Auto, Killzone etc.. I like my PSP way more for gaming and everything else.

If you like the Wii or Nintendo than the DS. If you like the PS3/360 than the PSP.

All depends on what kind of games you want. Both are still looking at 2-3 year lifespans and both are fun.

I borrowed a friend's PSP for a week; it's pretty cool. I love my DS, and could never sell it, but at the same time I wouldn't mind getting a PSP either (I plan to sometime next month.)
Alot of the games are not "M" but that doesn't mean they're not good. A couple of the really good title for DS to give you an idea of what you'd be playing are: Megaman Starforce, Phoenix Wright, Advance Wars, FFIII (FFIV coming along with a new Crystal Chronicles game), FFXII Revenant Wings, Worms Open Warfare 2, Zelda Phantom Hourglass, Mario Kart DS and so on.

Also you can get free games with a flashcart. I don't think you'd be disappointed with a PSP. If you don't like any one of the games I listed, you may be disappointed with a DS.

What about mario kart. I pick DS, but PSP is nice. Thinking of getting one.

I had a flash carted DS Lite, so I have tons of free games for it, but I still prefer my Official Firmwared PSP when it comes to games, they're just so much deeper, and I keep going back to them more then most DS Lite games.

Especially when it comes to fighting games, action games, and Music Rythm games.

I'd take my PSP over my DS Lite anyday.

Infact, my DS Lite broke around less then a month ago, I still haven't gotten around to getting a new one, I don't plan to in the near future, my PSP more then fills the void my DS Left me. I don't even miss it.

DS definitely. I like the game selection better, but apparently that's just me.

DS, the control scheme is perfect for FPS as metroid prime hunters showed us. It has Pokemon Diamond and Pearl which are probably the most strategic games ever created with all the breeding and training to get the perfect Pokemon. It has an active huge online community, and other 65 million DSs sold in total.

Other games like Final fantasy 3, dementium the ward, Legend of Zelda: Phantom hourglass and resident evil deadly silence make it even better.

The PSP has started to gain momentum, but the question is, is it to late?

Metroid in your kid titles?

PMPB, you dissapoint me. While Metroid isnt bloody, it also isnt the "cutesy cartoon" that most assume a kiddy video game is.

That said, I throw my support whole heartedly in the DS's favor. Basically, I love the touch-pad, and how much it can be a mouse for FPS games. THAT alone was enough to draw me in. Originally, I got it thinking Metroid Prime Hunters would be my killer app, and was brutally dissapointed, but all hail the real killer app: Dementium. (a 64 bit horror on a PORTABLE that can play with the big-boys... yep.. Im impressed).

Yeah, I know... PSP has Silent Hill Origins, but I want to try before I yell out Killer App here... I havent exactly heard flattering things about this one.

I didn't think Dementium was much better than Origins at all.

Hell I'd say it was worse.
