View Full Version : Spore...Not on the Xbox 360 and PS3
zbiggie 02-15-2008, 11:43 AM From reading this I was not surprised, until the very last line. "
Spore has been confirmed for Windows PC, Mac OS X, Wii, Nintendo DS and even mobile phones."
So your going to tell me that you can release spore on the MAC, DS, hell even the Wii. But you can't release it on the PS3 or Xbox 360 Due to technical difficulties."Spore producer Thomas Vu revealed that they hope to release the game for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 but that they are not sure if it is technically possible yet." How hard can it be If you remake a game to work on a Wii. How hard is it to remake for the real next gen systems. Hell I bet theres people out there that would take the Wii graphics with the ability to play the game on the real next gen consoles.
Either way I feel that users of true next gen consoles are being left out in the cold for this one.
Spore News (http://megagames.com/news/html/console/eanotsureifsporeispossibleonxbox360andps3.shtml)
After quite a while of silence, news and details about Will Wright's much anticipated game, Spore has been flowing steadily.
In a recent interview, Spore producer Thomas Vu revealed that they hope to release the game for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 but that they are not sure if it is technically possible yet.
"There's lots of technical hurdles we have to think about before we can say, 'Okay, we can do this or not'. But we're always looking at and thinking about these issues", Vu explained.
"Spore is huge and we know there's an audience", he added. "Yeah, of course we'd love to do it, but at the same time we don't know".
Spore has been confirmed for Windows PC, Mac OS X, Wii, Nintendo DS and even mobile phones.
mashedPenguin 02-15-2008, 12:28 PM I can imagine there being hurdles for the PS3 but the 360 is supposedly the easiest platform to port over too due to all the tools and support Microsoft provides for it. Spore dosen't have high technical requirements at all.
I imagine its more a question of whether the majority of PS3 or 360 owners have one of the other systems they are developing spore for vs the cost of porting to additional platforms.
Freestyle 02-15-2008, 12:33 PM I think it will work well with the Wii, the Wiimote will be nice to use. But they should bring it to the 360 and PS3 sometime in the future.
heyfling 02-15-2008, 01:42 PM I think it has to do more with the controls than anything. The Wiimote can be used more like a mouse, which would make it feel more like playing the game on the PC.
iPlayPC 02-15-2008, 02:47 PM I have no idea why Spore isn't going to be on 360 and ps3, especially seeing EA is doing it.
Ploogle 02-15-2008, 03:30 PM Will Wright himself has stated that he'd like to see Spore make it to every console, and has even said himself that he knows that the control scheme for the 360 and PS3 would be a hurdle.
Just wait, guys. It'll be officially confirmed or denied eventually.
rothbart 02-15-2008, 03:34 PM Can I officially announce "Meh..." now? This game interests me 0%. Always has...
Ploogle 02-15-2008, 03:42 PM Shame on rothbart!
...
To each his own, I guess...:(
zbiggie 02-15-2008, 07:04 PM When I originally saw this game I was really excited, but after a while I noticed that all the graphics look childish. So now I doubt that I will get it

Well some say that mario and most of nintendo's games look kiddish but there still fun. Theres plenty of games on all platforms that have this effect like Ratchet and clank but there still fun.
Also i think there putting in a much more toned down version for the wii and DS since there just so popular and tbh i think they only made this version as a way to make money from the mass market. I have a feeling it wont be that good. The PC version on the other hand is a much more expansive version of it that does take up a lot of resources with the amount of customisation. I think that if it is difficult to put on any console it just shows how resource heavy this game is going to be. I think if they put on the wii and ds version on the PS3 and 360 it wont be that good and i think a lot of people will still be complaining so i think its worth just buying it on PC or just waiting to see if they can actually put it on a console.
edenfire 02-15-2008, 09:07 PM RTS's suck on consoles, and this game is a point and click affair in the same vein.
I don't think it's as easy as making it work like Viva Pinata, there seems to be far too much to map to controllers so it works right.
also, the "mobile phone" part is just a creature editor right?
Tinman 02-15-2008, 09:25 PM I have a Wii and 360 so it doesn't bother me.
Mallico 02-16-2008, 05:54 AM I'm mildly interested in this game myself, I'd like to see how it plays on DS.

I would believe this... what I cant believe is that Zbiggie would think it would fit on a DS before it would fit on a Wii.... Concidering the DS is effectively an N64 with a touchpad instead of an analog, that astounds me.

Turning down a game because of childish-looking graphics is oversight on your part, Mr. Zbiggie. Video games are an art, and that style of graphics is just another way to use the paint brush. Just because they're trying to make their game stand out from all the rest, doesn't mean they should lose customers over it.
That said, I'm sure that the only reason they're not officially announcing the game for PS3 or 360 is simply the controls.

It's almost a completely different game, but it will still have some of the content sharing enabled. If you look at some of the screenshots and descriptions, you'll see what I mean.

Exactly.
RAGNAROCK 02-17-2008, 07:19 PM I have only heard the name for this game don't really know much about it,I'm going to look for info about it right now to know what you all are talking about.
RAGNAROCK 02-17-2008, 07:41 PM just check it looks really cool,as for the graphics looking chieldish does not matter because must of the games that have graphics like those always are good sellers just look at patapon look really awesome(shame that I don't have a PSP).
The McMurder 02-17-2008, 10:26 PM I call bull if the wii can support it the 360 and ps3 should be able to without even breaking a sweat
RAGNAROCK 02-18-2008, 07:26 PM maybe is because making a game for wii is easier there going with first, maybe latter there going to make it for ps3 xbox360 with better graphics.
Diortem 02-18-2008, 07:50 PM I call bull if the wii can support it the 360 and ps3 should be able to without even breaking a sweat
But you ever try an RTS on a 360 or a PS3? The issue is NOT usually horsepower.
This is most likely in the same boat.
RAGNAROCK 02-20-2008, 04:43 PM I hope they make a demo for this game even if the only thing you do is create creatures an nothing else.
rothbart 02-20-2008, 06:27 PM I hope they make a demo for this game even if the only thing you do is create creatures an nothing else.

Whats that suppose to mean? You dont think Wii is capable of spore? The DS and MAC are more capable? Look, you didnt get a good game on your system. I'm sure you got a PC so be quiet and just buy it for that when it releases.
Ugh, I hate when people bi*tch just because a game isnt coming out on their peferred system. Get over it.
