My brother and I have yet to be able to connect to a private game together, which sucks because that's the biggest reason that I bought a 360. We can both connect to public games but when we try to connect to each other we get errors.

The error changes depending on the game but it basics are that there is an issue with the connection. It doesn't matter if I host to he does, we get the error. I have a D-link router, he has a Linksys. Both are "360 approved" We've both went through and manually configured the router Firewall to open the correct ports. We've even gone as far as enabling the DMZ.

Has anyone else had issues connecting to private games? Is there anything else that we haven't tried?

Is both your NAT's on 'Open'?

Yes it is.

The only thing I can think of that we haven't tried is just taking the routers out of the equation by going directly from the modem to the 360. Maybe I'll dig out my box of ether net cables tonight an fond one long enough to reach.

I have that issue a lot. On GoW, I always get the "Your connection to the host has been lost" error. My NAT's open...I have one of the Linksys WRT54G routers. If somebody knows what to do to fix this, you'd be my e-hero.

I think my brother has that router... I'll check with him and post tomorrow with both models.
