I'm just about to start playing this either today or tomorrow, has anyone tried it yet? The new gameplay features sound kinda cool, here's how Wikipedia describes them:

New gameplay elements

The bracelet on Apollo's left arm can be used to "zoom in on witnesses to gather information about them", and is called the Perceive System. It is used primarily in court to look for motions or actions made by witnesses that show nervousness, like playing with one's fingers. The move even comes with a new phrase, "Gotcha!" ("There!" (そこだ!, Soko da!?) in Japanese). The game also includes a "Crime Recreation Mode" that "allows players to reveal hidden clues by re-creating the scene of the crime."[7]

Yeah it's just like Pheonix Wright plus some new features, Phoenix is even in this game.

Here's a link to some reviews, it got 78/100 on Metacritic. (http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/ds/apollojusticeaceattorney)

78? I would have expectd something higher, oh wait I checked out the sites and stuff that gave it a review and play magazine (whatever the hell that is) gave it a 55, I could see how that drops the average a bit

Mallico

Yeah :/ it went from 75-85 and then Play Magazine gave it 55. Finished the first case and it's pretty interesting.

This game is set quite a while after PW3, I'm not 100% sure but I'd say just over 15 years later.

so are the characters from PW remembered, or not so much?

Mallico

Well in the first case the only people from the PW series were Phoenix Wright, Winston Payne (with a new haircut rofl..), and the black judge.

How far are you in the game? Because I'm guessing Wendy oldbag will make an appearence, she's been in every game so far (she made a brief appearence at the end of the credits for PW3)

15 years from the PW games, wendy oldbag will be in a wheelchair or something...

Ok I just picked up my copy (had an interesting discussion about the PW series with an employee of Gamestop and a cutommer while picking it up) and I will let you know how it is

I really like it so far, it seems easier than the last games so far, but I'm only on case 2. They don't seem to let you present profiles while talking to people anymore.

Yeah I noticed that as well, they only let you present them during certain parts. One thing I have noticed is that only 2 cases in and the game leaves you with more questions then I care to count.

First off, if you have never watched Harvey Birdman: Attorney At Law, ignore this post.

I might have been imagining things but at the end of the first case when Kristoph finally admits to being the killer, the evidence from the case flies up behind him although one of the pieces of "evidence" I thought I saw was a lobster and no lobster was used in this case. I ended up laughing so hard for a good 5 minutes.

Did anyone else see this? I'd like to also point out that Capcom made the Harvey Birdman game.

No that wasn't evidence that was the stuff Olga Orly (yes Orly is her last name and indeed sounds like Oh Really) was carrying before

Well, like I said it happened so fast but I swear I saw a lobster. I'll replay the first case if I have to!...after I finish the game, of course (on case 2 right now).

Yeah I'm pretty sure that was just the borscht lol. I really like the perceive system. There's a lot of 3d animation in this game, and more mini game kind of things.

From what I've played (still in 2nd case--I pretty much only play during work) I'm guessing the Psyche-locks are gone. That's a plus because those got annoying in JFA & T&T.

I gotta pick this up soon. My budgets low (Money's For Force Unleashed)

Mallico

Yeah I haven't seen a psyche lock either, I wasn't a big fan of those. Cool avatar Inzader, everyone knows PW points with his left hand though :p. (That's from VG Cats right?)

When is Force Unleashed coming out?

Hmmm I could try to review it, we'll see if I have time today or tomorrow. If you enjoyed the Phoenix Wright games you'll like this.

Although I have yet to finish AJ (again, usually only play during work) but I'll agree to that. However, probably like the PW games, there's little replayability unless you're like me and have the memory span of a goldfish then it's still good fun a 2nd time through.

what I'm trying to get at is how long is it?

what I'm trying to get at is how long is it?

is it worth a rent, or a buy?

It took me 12-13 days to beat and I played quite often. It's pretty much the same length as the third PW game. It only has four cases but the fourth case is really long and awesome.

As for rent or a buy, it depends on how much renting a DS game costs and how long you get to keep it for. Seeing as you're in Canada I'll point out that the game is only $30 at Futureshop.

Honestly though, the game is awesome but there's no replay value. If you think you can beat it in a week I'd probably rent it.

I also have two words every DS owner should live by: Flash Cart.

care to elaborate?

Basically you buy a flash cart for $30-40 (Canadian), get a MicroSD card and you have free DS games forever.

Just download the rom, put it on the card, put the card in the flash cart, put it in your DS game slot and then play the game.
