View Full Version : The game you had the hardest time finding
Dmatix 02-24-2008, 04:43 AM Did you ever had to look for a game for a really long time, and still not find it?
and if you did, after many months of pain and longing, when you did,was it worth it?
(I cant believe I forgot the "o" in "you"!)
zbiggie 02-24-2008, 04:51 AM Homeworld. That game I remember seeing on store shelves the first time. I wanted and my parents would not buy it. So when I did get the money all of a suddenly I could not find it anywhere. Every single store "just" ran out and were not restocking. So I gave up until one day I walk by a Radioshack (no source by CC) and there it was. The box had taken a beating but the game was there. Picked it up and got home. It was during the summer when I still had not started working. So I ended up playing it for a week strait. (12+ hours) I was completely addicted. Once I beat it I still played the multilayer but the community was basically dead. But still completely worth the buy.
Ala Douche 02-24-2008, 05:05 AM Ico... i used to have it, then i lost it and it was almost impossible to find.
definitely worth it though, one of my favorite games of all time!
eskimopirate 02-24-2008, 07:53 AM Lumines for the PSP
It seems its completely impossible to find it except on ebay for $70! That is the bad part about easy PSP hacks, their too easy. (If you don't know what I'm talking about, Lumines has a glitch that will downgrade your PSP allowing you to hack it)
Diortem 02-24-2008, 08:44 AM Blood.... original one on DOS: VERY worth it
Call of Cthulhu: Shadow of the Commet (DOS): Hasnt come up to play yet, but seeing as I collect Cthulhu titles... Im not complaining.
Deus Ex: VERY worth it
DarkSeed: Actually, not worth it.
Kings Quest: Mask of Eternity: I LOVED that game
Phantasmagoria: One of my all-time favorites now, and BY FAR the best of it's kind.
Phantasmagoria 2: SUCKED
Matrix: Path of Neo: Sucked... which was sad because Id heard it was like Enter only withough the bugs... but it's soul was gone....
Dreamfall: AMAZING...
its been a mixed bag.
PopTrogdor 02-24-2008, 09:02 AM Ergheiz, a fighting game with FF7 characters in it...still haven't found it
Artemas 02-24-2008, 09:11 AM I tried to pre-order MGS3S LE and it was sold out every where I checked and I looked for about 3 months before giveing up hope and one week before it came out I was at EB games buying a new controler and the guy in front of me cancled his pre-order, and with great excitment I shouted (politely rasied my voice.) Ill take it! The only drawback was I would not have enough cash to buy the game and controler so I did not even get to play it untill a month after I had it in my hands.
Biohazared20 02-24-2008, 10:21 AM Marvel VS Capcom 2 I tried looking for the game everywhere but could never find it so I just ordered it off the internet
Hollowcow 02-24-2008, 10:32 AM Panzer Dragoon Orta. I spent quite a while trying to get that game. Ended up finally getting it used at a Gamestop. Score!
Lone Medic 02-24-2008, 10:34 AM Homeworld. That game I remember seeing on store shelves the first time. I wanted and my parents would not buy it. So when I did get the money all of a suddenly I could not find it anywhere. Every single store "just" ran out and were not restocking. That was mine!!!!! I had trouble finding the 2nd one too though because I waited a bit to long after it was released. And I could never really find Cataclysm.
janzantinga 02-24-2008, 10:41 AM Lost in Blue for the DS, I still haven't found it either in stores or even on the internet!
RAGNAROCK 02-24-2008, 12:20 PM I have never really had that problem to such a long time the ,only games that took me a long time to find were FF10, took me around a month, and Mario Superstar saga, took me around two weeks after looking around more than 10 stores.
MadMikeMan 02-24-2008, 12:29 PM chromehounds surprisingly, was going to order it, but I found it at a gamestop in a nearby town.
The Beezs 02-24-2008, 12:39 PM One game I regret selling, out of any other title was Legend of Mana for the PS1. I had the game twice, but for some reason I sold it both times.
Now I've been on the hunt for a copy and no luck, and I'm not yet willing to shell out $130 on ebay for it. I miss that game, it was beautiful (seriously AMAZING artwork throughout), had a great battle and reward system. And the sheer variety of what you could was and still is staggering to think about.
First, just how you build the world affects how the game plays. Placing a town with a high shade rating next to a happy salamander place would change the monsters and items that came up, so there could be a formula for you to come up with that would mean you could buy a metric ton of dark crystals so you can forge amazing godlike items, weapons, instruments, and golem parts. And the hours you could spend just making a single golem that would fight next to you. Man oh man, I miss that game and now I can't find it anywhere.
strika234 02-24-2008, 12:40 PM the first phoenix wright.

Lord Butters I 02-24-2008, 08:51 PM Ninja Gaiden Black. Searched every store in my city, nothing had it. The internet was screwing me, the average price on various sites was something like $50. I eventually found it at a gamestop in some little town in Colorado.

zbiggie 02-24-2008, 10:16 PM That was mine!!!!! I had trouble finding the 2nd one too though because I waited a bit to long after it was released. And I could never really find Cataclysm.
I actually found cataclysm no problem, and it was for about half the price of when it came out. Again at radioshack, but this time it was right after release.
I remember one game I still have not found is a more rescent DUNE RTS game. It is called Emperor: Battle for Dune. Once I see it I will have to pick it up right away. Hell I have a "demo" copy but that will not do it for me. Great game and it still looks great
piston11792 02-24-2008, 10:20 PM never had one (preorder everything i want, yes i know it sounds completely stupid, but i can't help it

Flint50 02-26-2008, 03:34 PM Final Fantasy VII
When I wanted to play it (and had a PS2), it was 2004 and all the copies I found were like $80 on EBay. I wasn't much of a console gamer then and people were telling me how awsome it was (and spoiling every detail) that I had to pick it up before they murdered me.
I ended up finding it at some market thing they had set up at the Mall one weekend. $15, good find.
And no, I still haven't finished it.... only like 30 minutes in.
Dmatix 02-26-2008, 04:40 PM I played FF7 on the PC.didnt finish it either.
some about the game that just wont let me.
Digitalistic 02-26-2008, 04:48 PM Rez for the PS2. Took me almost 2 years of searching gamestops.
ProNinjaX 02-27-2008, 12:38 AM Halo 2, when I wanted the entire Halo series by the time Halo 3 came out. It was extremely difficult to find a clean copy.
solarmystic 02-27-2008, 05:14 PM Star Control 3. Had go on to Ebay after searching fruitlessly for years on end in PC game shops everywhere.
Inzader 02-27-2008, 05:59 PM Gotcha Force, I loved that game and played 20+ hours. i rented like 100 times, then somebody broke the damn disk. Can't find anywhere since. 100$ on ebay now.
Parky105 07-01-2009, 01:47 PM I searched so many stores for Destroy All Humans : Big Willy Unleashed, then when I finally found it, I started playing it and, guess what, it was rubbish, so I sold it..
Artemas 07-01-2009, 08:10 PM MGS1 for the PS1. 5 years and I still can't find a decent playable copy.
Jus Blaze Man02 07-01-2009, 08:19 PM MGS1 for the PS1. 5 years and I still can't find a decent playable copy.
I'm with ya. Megaman Legends 2 is the treasure I'm searching for. A vintage store I go to actually has a copy of MGS1 and FFVII both greatest hits but no megaman. =(
PacManPolarBear 07-01-2009, 10:32 PM Yakuza 3. I finally found a copy of the version I wanted a few days ago. Now I just got to wait for it to arrive.
GammaFist 07-01-2009, 10:46 PM it would be Spore because I couldn't find it at any gamestop I went to and the gamestops I see PC games and then I found it at the apple store and because of my Mac it keeps on crashing so I'll just use the upstairs computer cus its not a mac

LOL and here I am with my copy of MM Legends 2 in pretty good condition.
The game I had the hardest time finding was Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops. I had always found used copies of Portable Ops Plus (which is an online expansion) but never the original. Yet one day, I found a used copy of the game but unfortunately it had one of those Gamestop boxes and no original box or manual so I had to put it back.
Yup, I'm that picky.
bluec1988 07-03-2009, 07:45 PM believe it or not it was BF bad company because of the price drop finally i saw 1 at bestbuy for $20.
Havok83 07-05-2009, 10:23 PM WarioWare: Smooth Moves for the Wii. Was this released in limited quantities? Ever since my sister got a Wii last May, Ive been searching everywhere for it but never saw it in any stores or even used at Gamestop. I know I can most likely get it on Ebay, but I found it odd that Ive yet to actually see a physical copy out in the stores
