10 years ago, we were playing Golden Eye on the N64, and a mere 5 years ago Halo. Where will gaming take us in the next 5 years? The next 10? What new technologies will we have access to? Will the Xbox360 2 be the system that takes us there? Will the next Wii be amazing? What kinds of games will we be playing? And more importantly, will Malace finally be released then?

Halo 5, super fun time adventure game!

Thats actualy kinda hard to give an answear for. I think tech wise it will just keep getting better and people will laugh at the 05-10(15?) console gen for thinking that it could not get any better(graphic wise.)

I think games will just start getting into the pit of sameness. Or it will rock.

virtual reality, what could be better.when this comes out instead of using controllers we use our mind in a machine that takes us into a virtual world.

Its already beginning. Phil left Sony and Metroid Prime 3 has been outsold by Carnival Games. Its only a matter time before Nintendo and Sony get absorbed into Microsoft Game studios. :p

If Nintendo loses the casual gamers, they just might be. But Sony? We'll wait and see.

The Future of gaming is probably mostly games being released better than the one before and if microsoft are the people that buy out the other companies then look forward to what that vid says

We will have 100+ iterations of everything we have now, because people will eventually run out of ideas and instead try to crank out the most awesome graphics they can.

I don't have a problem if they remake FFVII, Chrono Trigger and some other games every 15-20 years or so.

We'll be witnessing the dawn of true virtual reality. (http://www.gamezero.com/team-0/articles/features/look_at_virtual_reality_92/) We'll be playing games in which if your character gets damage, you'll feel some of its pain, and can feel everything your character can feel as if you're in an alternate reality. We'll begin seeing MMO games in this way.

For more information, check out the book Epic by Conor Kostick.

Checked a brief summary and it's a bit similar to Yureka (http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=1200) and dot-hack (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.hack)

4 ways this could go:

A)Game makers take Nintendo's idea and release the same thing over and over again
Outcome - sameness/lameness

B)People will stop learning to make video games because they are all playing them
Outcome - We start moving backward in video game time

C)Technology advances at a steady rate
Outcome - Duke Nukem Forever using a Wiimote and a cube TV which you actually step inside to play.

D)I take over the world
Outcome - There will be too much awsomeness flowing around for anyone to care about video games

I think in 5 years we will obviously have much better "looking" games, unfortunately, I think we will still be suffering from the technical problems like framerate slowdown and texture popping from the titles that (at that time) are trying to "raise the bar" visually.

The one thing I hope will iron itself out is the native resolution of most average games. If engine developers can find a comfortable standard, they could put more time into ironing out the bugs and hicups instead of always trying to up the resolution at the expense of the overall experience. Look at Ratchet & Clank Future Tools of Destruction for example, at only 720p native, has huge outdoor environments, hardly any jaggies whatsoever, and never drops below 60fps. I hope that it will become a rarity to see anything other than that type of quality.

In the next 5 years Microsoft and Nintendo will merge to make a super console, causing Sony to retire from the console war. Halo will become a required subject to be learned in schools. The Legend of Zelda will become a religion, with the Book of Zelda being equivalent to the bible. The Statue of Liberty is demolished to make The Statue of Cortana. Japan is renamed Hyrule. A massive Halo is built in space. The NFL is renamed Madden.:) This is all true, an angel came to me last night and told me what the gaming wrorld will be like.
