The Sims 3 - First Details announced

Official Games For Windows magazine and PC Gamer both have features on The Sims 3. EA have finally released details on the sequel to the sequel of the biggest selling PC game ever.
When you first look at the screenshots it initially looks like another Sims 2 expansion, the graphics dont really look that different. It's still has the same colourful, slightly cartoony engine from the Sims 2 but there's apparently been alot of improvements in facial expressions and animation.
The biggest difference in the game is that everything from your house, to your neighbours house to the downtown lot is all located in one big seamless world. Meaning that whilst your sim is sleeping you can perv on their hot neighbour in the shower, in all there pixelated glory! This also means that jobs and work is now 'on-screen'.
Sims now have WoW inspired buffs, for example sims who have a 'Outdoorsman' trait, will immediately get a mood lift when they step outside. You can also get a 'Kleptomaniac' trait. (btw nice new smilies)
These traits will be replacing the points system that previous Sims games used e.g. intelligence, neatness etc.
The biggest change to The Sims 3 is that it takes place in a wide-open, constantly changing neighborhood — a much bigger sandbox, if you will, and a much more complex simulation. The town and park you see on the cover image to the right (click to enlarge) exist in the same seamless space as your Sims’ household, and what you do outside your home now matters as much as what you do within. (Yes, previous expansion packs added out-and-about activities, but they were always separate sub-games. Here, everything’s completely integrated.) The game also sees a major shift in how Sims’ motives are handled: Individual meters indicating bladder and sleep-deprivation levels are replaced by a new system of discrete moods, the aim being to get players off the treadmill of fulfilling primal eat-sleep-pee-repeat requirements so they can focus more on, well, going out on the brand new town
The game seems to be much more of evolution than revolution. It will still be a single player game. There will still be expansion packs. And you still can kill them in any twisted way you like.
