In a surprising press conference early this morning, Take 2 announced that it was accepting an offer from Namco Bandai for a complete merger. Reports claim that the merger is a direct result of EA leaking information of their offer to also merge with Take 2.
“We told them no,” Says an anonymous Take 2 employee, “But they continued to nag, and nag, and nag. Well now if they want us, they’ll have to take Namco Bandai too. And seriously, who wants Namco Bandai?”
A Rockstar representative was also present at the conference, stated that they were so disgusted with the merger that most of their employees were leaving to form a new game studio. Grand Theft Auto 4 has effectively been delayed due to this announcement.
Another Take 2 employee shed some light on the future of Grand Theft Auto: “Since we now have this license, and no one with enough experience to finish it, we’ve decided to let our new partners take the reigns! Grand Theft Auto IV will be delayed, and reworked to Namco Bandai’s vision. We expect a Spring 2009 release date for Grand Theft Katamari.”
Expect to be rolling a giant ball through a lifelike city in early 2009. Since it will be using the current GTA engine, we expect a compelling storyline, some awesome AI, and some fun with hookers and a big ball.
