View Full Version : Starcraft 2
Chemical_Burn 08-23-2007, 05:35 PM As each day is 1 more day closer to a release of SCII, with that said every once in awhile the main website reveals units. Some which we know at heart and brand new ones we may come to love.
The recent addition of AH/G-24 Banshee reminds me of something I've read. The game will not only bring some new units as well as some old with improvements, but they unfortunately will not have some returning.
Seeing the Banshee makes me think that the iconic ship used for the original Starcraft shortcut on our desktops will not be returning =(. It looks like a hybrid of the Wraith and Valkyrie with cloaking ability. This unit is used for air-to-ground combat.
Quick question for you people. Do you feel dissapointed that some units will not be making a return to Starcraft 2?
sniper68 08-26-2007, 06:43 PM sc2 looks like a good game, but they took out some of the things that made sc1 such an awsome game, like now the protoss voices sound terrible, theres no wraith, and the goliath looks crappy.
Duncor 08-27-2007, 01:38 PM I got to spend some time playing it at Blizzcon and when you play it it feels just like playing SC1 in all the good ways. There are some new units but all the basic abilities from the original game are all there. I don't think starcraft fan will be disappointed by the game when it comes out.
PacManPolarBear 09-07-2007, 10:41 PM From what I have seen so far it don't bother me one bit. I was blown away by the demonstrations of late to the point that I drool just a lil even saying Starcraft.

Then I can tell you now that your missing out on some heavy RTS action.
shadowtech 09-15-2007, 03:05 PM Will there be a N64 version?
Yea, SC2 is supposed to be awesome. But I'm wondering what I'd rather get.
Beowulf 09-15-2007, 09:41 PM Ah, is there anything greater than a next-gen upgrade to an already great older game?
Scrubble 09-18-2007, 09:08 PM I'm not too sad about it. It looks like its going to be pretty phenomenal. Plus, beggars can't be choosers. Would you rather have no Starcraft 2? </sarcasm>
People have been waiting for SC2 for years... and more years... and Blizzard's reputation says they won't let RTS lovers down due to the fact that they've owned that genre for years.
New units, old units, doesn't matter to me as long as the game is full of strategy and bnet :)
Zvolen 04-21-2009, 04:38 PM I hate to resurrect an old thread, but it was the only Starcraft 2 thread I could find. Since I didn't want to start a new discussion I figured I would add to this. What does everybody think of the new units/abilities that where showcases in the recently released gameplay footage? If you haven't checked it out you can do so here (http://beyondthedpad.wordpress.com/2009/04/18/starcraft-ii-battle-report-2/).
Oh man I am excited...
Scrai 04-21-2009, 06:56 PM I think that Starcraft 2 is going to be great no matter what. I do miss some of the units but I haven't seen one new unit I haven't thought was cool.

I agree, whatever Blizzard does I have faith. Like you, I haven't seen one unit or abilitity where I was disappointed.
LEGEND 04-22-2009, 08:21 AM Having never played the original, how easy is it for a 'noob' like myself to get into the game? I'll probally just stick to SP if I do get it though, MP looks scary.

As far as single player goes, you can get into it pretty easy. The first campaign ramps up at a reasonable pace for most gamers. The expansion Brood Wars is a bit tougher, but still fun and newbie friendly for the most part.
Online Multiplayer, well, join noob games. The game has been out so long that the thousands of people who still play have been doing so for years, they will tear you apart. I have been playing it for almost a full decade and I still get rocked online if I leave Starcraft for a month and then go back.
Best of all, you can get the Starcraft Battle Chest for next to nothing these days. Worth every penny though.
PS. They need to announce a release date for the first part soon...I really want to do something special to mark the occasion...

I completely agree, while playing the SP campaign feel free to use some of the cheats to help if you find yourself getting killed a lot. just use them to get yourself familiarized with the game play, I wouldn't depend on them especially since they don't work on MP.
daCooksta 04-26-2009, 04:24 PM Will there be a N64 version?
Win.
I've tried to get into SC, but I can't seem to get any good at it. Perhaps I'm just not good at RTS games. I'm still working on learning it, off and on, every now and then. It's a ton of fun, and I really like it though, I just suck. In regards to units, I don't mind, as long as it's balanced then I'm fine with it. But I'm not a hardcore player, so I don't have any fond memories of any certain unit. (although I do like the Zealots. They're easy to rush with. XD)
xbellx 04-28-2009, 01:02 PM i cant wait for this game!!!!! idk about anyone else but when i played on bnet i would always play custom games cuz the normal games would be the same thing over and over again, build 20 barracks and charge marines. it would get so annoying so my friends and i played evolves and helms deep all the time : ) so much fun
CaptainTesticles666 05-01-2009, 04:54 PM I really doubt that its going to be bad. Then Blizzard would lose it reputation.
zinc136 05-01-2009, 05:42 PM I used to play this game a lot, but the lag was a big issue and I'll be interested to see how they fix it.
As to the single player mode they start you off easy then it gets more difficult as time goes on.
On multi-player I'd always play custom games as well.
