View Full Version : Bioshock full
Got my hard copy today.
Two things that bugged the crap out of me after only 2 minutes of playing...
The 3rd, after a few hours of playing.
You can play the game with subtitles corresponding to the spoken language.
They are by far the worst synch I've ever seen!
Within the first few minutes of gameplay, you voluntarily inject yourself with a needle.
A needle, found in a strange place, of which you have no clue as to what it actually does.
Why the F*CK would anyone do that?!
I mean come on, they could've just added a small dialogue which tempts you to use it...
Aiming with a weapon is quite tricky.
It doesn't feel as good as the UT series or HL²...
I'll fiddle around a bit with my mouse settings,
maybe a unique setting for this game will improve it a bit.
Other than that, the game is pretty good so far :p
zbiggie 08-25-2007, 12:58 PM hmm,
really don't know what your talking about, the only problem with the game that i found is the widescreen, problem and there is already a patch. be it community made not publisher. I do love the game and im probably going to keep on playing. the only thing i would like to see the mod community make is a multiplayer pack which could easily be done.

Chemical_Burn 08-27-2007, 04:45 AM Playing the demo only so far I can see what your talking about #2. Although think of it this way, in that world it wouldn't be any differen then getting something from a vending machine. Those kinds of things would be common in that "world" so grabbing something out of the blue and stabbing yourself wouldn't be different.
Ill be grabbing my copy in my next pay check. Cant wait to play the full version.
CharlieBlix 08-27-2007, 09:52 AM I know what you are talking about with #2. I said the same thing in the Xbox 360 thread about the game. Its soooo freaking stupid! I mean I love the game and think its great but yeah that part is lame.

I would agree with you but the guy isn't from Rapture (The place). He is from the "real" world where we don't think stabbing dirty needles into our arms is normal.
Apathy 09-04-2007, 09:13 AM Oh.. i think when you actually play through the FULL game you will see that none of wat u say is true... not to spoil it for you or anything.. but when u get towards the end it will become PERFECTLY clear y he injects himself so happily.. trust me it will blow ur mind O.o

Well it certainly didn't blow my mind...
I felt the ending was rather disappointing and cliché.
It also didn't really explain the needle thing...
It's not like anyone asked "would you kindly inject that needle in your arm" >.<
LEGEND 09-04-2007, 02:54 PM Im still deciding whether to buy it or not, graphics do look awesome though...

xioxenna 09-06-2007, 08:21 PM lol, DO NOT BUY THIS GAME
>>((SPOILERS))<<
as i ranted in the demo thread...
there is 5 enemies,
1 thugs
2 spiders
3 hudini's
4 turrets
5 daddies
you cant count the minute variations between,
>now correct me if i'm wrong, the game is completely linear with no replay value.
>there's two endings, both are unsatisfying
>the last boss can be beaten in three minutes. (normal diff)
>character movement feels floaty, and interacts poorly with environment, there is no realism here (played on full graphics, corrrect resolution)
>there's no tactics to be employed. walk in, electrobolt the camera's, autohack it, beesting the enemy, hide. either that, or run round in circles with the 4shot shotgun, whoop-de-doo.
>the hacking is repetitive, the same from the first to the last, everything hacks the same, from a safe to a camera, to a turret. could they not have varied it slightly to stop me from getting p*ssed off and stocking up on autohacks.
storyline is good, nice twists/backgrounds, but there's no way to alter it.
water effects are great, but if you touch it slightly, you're blinded for ~8 seconds.
it looks good, but plays bad, it's all over before it's started. and there's no satisfaction at the end. and due to how repetitive the game is, there's no way you'd ever bother to find the second ending.
two stars, avoid at all costs, you'll feel massively hard done by.
Sadly enough, I have to agree with most of that...
xioxenna 09-07-2007, 09:00 PM a few more kicks to the teeth, cause i really do resent all the publicity this game's got. it's an awful, awful game.
what's it got going for it, and why it's not original, not well executed.
>the weapons are unique? wtf? casting fire? casting ice? casting electric? ... no wait i suppose you're right, no one's ever come up with anything that ingenious, how did we miss these kick ass ideas in other multi-platinum games such as the final fantasy series, WoW, hmm xmen?
>character optimisation - One simple answer to this...A little game called... Deus ex,
& Deus EX PWNS this game, forever and a day, there's hundreds of games which offer armour stats, and character ehancement, admittedly, most are rpg's, but seriously, how hard would it have been to give us a little more than "Electrobolt level 3" try, electro gloves, elecric resistance, power consumption... etc etc, kitting out your body aswell as your mind,
plus there's no detriment at all, to having bee's flow through your veins. or your hand continously burnt then frozen, then electrocuted, then covered in bee's again. wtf?
>the final (possibly most deadly) weapon in the game's a f*ckn crossbow. yeah, cause that's gonna do equivalent damage to a shotgun alright.
>where the hell was the damn city. you seen it as you were comin in, where was a single civillian in the game, where was there one person (apart from that scientist lady/little sisters) who didnt try and attack you, where was civilisation of any kind.
come to think of it, where was a level with a greater expanse of view than aprox 45meters.
>1st level, plane crashes through a glass walkway, 40 leagues under the sea. glass cracks water pours in. 40 mins later, water pours in, 1hour 40mins later, water pours in, water level not rising. seriously, ten seconds into the game, would it hurt to have the environment collapsing, a cutscene if neccisary? you're not onna mind dying at that point for being slow, you're ten seconds into it.
seriously, this game was made by cheif executives of big companys looking for the $$$ , we need a few powers to upgrade, heart rendering choices which determine good/bad endings. a plot twist, and a hacking system, a few guns.
like i said 2/5
Scrubble 09-18-2007, 08:11 PM About number 2... You're too picky! Too many games these days explain every detail to the last freaking letter. When that happened, I found it funny...but I wasn't angry about it. Mildly amused. Anyway...
So far the game is great. I've played it on PC and Xbox 360, both are great. I also find the aim awkward. Another thing I didn't like is all the backtracking I have to do. FPS should be fairly linear, but Bioshock just...isn't. In some cases.
