View Full Version : PS3 Price Drop?
LEGEND 04-06-2008, 08:27 AM Hi all, does anyone know if there are any planned price drops for the PS3? Im probally gonna get one in the near future but if Sony is planning on lowering the price i may as well wait abit.
Also, i found some good deals for the console on Play.com with some nice bundles:
http://www.play.com/Games/PlayStation3/4-/5320441/Sony-Playstation-3-PS3-Console-with-40GB-HDD-+-Gran-Turismo-5-Prologue/Product.html?dpr=2723

Which is the better deal in your opinion, and does it include the Wi-Fi connection and PS2 playback?
Millakilla 04-06-2008, 09:07 AM The 40 gb has wifi but no ps2 back compatibility...
Oh and play.com do Dmc4 and drakes fortune for 299 aswell which i think is better than ninja gaiden and drakes fortune

I'd go for the Drake's Fortune one. However, the 40GB lacks some important capabilities I wanted in my PS3. (backwards comp., card readers, lots of USB ports...)
Drakes fortune one is a better deal cos you can buy GT5: Prologue for 18 quid off of Play.com anyway, so you'd be getting 3 games and the console for less than 320 quid. If you bought the GT5: Prologue console for 290, Unchartered alone from Play.com with that bundle would cost more than the other bundle.
Definitely the Drake's Fortune bundle. Definitely.
EDIT: Millakilla's suggestion is a good point. DMC4 is better than Ninja Gaiden Sigma, but it is a tenner more. I would go for the DMC4 and Unchartered Bundle if you want to spend an extra tenner. I think it is worth a tenner more...
Devil May Cry 4 and Unchartered Bundle (http://www.play.com/Games/PlayStation3/4-/5234130/Sony-Playstation-3-PS3-Console-with-40GB-HDD-+-Drake-Fortune-+-Devil-May-Cry-4/Product.html?dpr=2723)
Here you are...

Sadly the 40GB is the only model availiable in Europe and no other is planned at the moment.
Personally I would get the GT: Prologue edition but the Drake/Gaiden offer is probably the better value.
Eulogy 33 04-07-2008, 06:30 AM Whats the chances of a 80gb PS3 being available in Europe in the future? Also is the PS3 region free like the PSP?
viatrophy 04-07-2008, 07:22 AM Also is the PS3 region free like the PSP?
Technically its region free.
The games are, just the films are region locked.
which means you'd have to import them from a site like play-asia.

You can buy the 60GB used still. I bought a 60GB from Cex for 355 quid, but I specifically asked if they had any that were new. They had one where the box was a little ragged, but I took it, and the PS3 was brand new, and it hadn't even been touched at all.
If you look in the right place, you should be able to get a 60GB PS3, however they are not in production anymore, so if you wanted the capabilities of the 60GB, then I suggest buying a used one, because the extra add-ons of the 60GB make it worth buying...

Yes but you have to buy a PS1 game or Resistance to do so.
To play UK PAL games which are locked use the method below, you will need the game F1: Championship edition.
1. Goto multiplayer menu
2. Select Exit to main menu
3. At the confirmation popup to exit main menu, swap your disc with the locked game.
4. Confirm the popup to exit to main menu
5. Your locked PAL game will work, enjoy
Also works using Resistance
1. Play Campaign
2. Press Start in game (for Pause menu)
3. At the Pause Menu, eject resistance disc
4. Insert the effected Blue Ray disc
5. Select Save and Quit from the menu
6. The game will boot
NoneOfYourBusiness 04-07-2008, 04:09 PM Isn't the Metal Gear Bundle worldwide? That Bundle is 80Gig and comes with MGS4 and DS3
Galzazak 04-07-2008, 06:25 PM Wow, if there are more ps3 price drops i might buy one. I hope the online part is free.
NoneOfYourBusiness 04-07-2008, 10:06 PM online was always free....

Good choice, Do not play DMC4 on Human mode first it is stupidly easy, I did and it ruined the game for me because the other DMC's were resonably challenging on any difficulty level but this was not:P
Tell us when you get it and send your psn id my way and ill give you an add:D
Dementri 04-11-2008, 05:56 AM Once last question, does this model come with a HDMI cabel?
i think all the ps3 bundles come with a HDMI Cable because one of sonys strong points is that the graphics are immense on a HD TV so im guessing yes
Emophia 04-11-2008, 06:41 AM No, they don;t, none of the PS3's come with HDMI cames, you own onw, how the hell do you now know?
Dementri 04-11-2008, 09:00 AM they used to because when i got my 60gb PS3 at christmas, it came with a HDMI cable but now that they have stopped selling the 60gb and only sell 40gb and soon 80gb they dont come with HDMI cables.
Emophia 04-11-2008, 03:40 PM No the 60 gig never came with an HDMI cable eitehr.
You must have had some kind of bundle.
