That’s right, I have gone against everything I have said against consoles and finally decided to buy a PS3.

Approximately sometime next week, I will be purchasing a brand new 40GB Playstation 3 complete with Drakes Fortune and Devil May Cry 4, and I’m also going to get GT5: Prologue. Which in total will cost £328.

6 Months ago I wouldn’t have even considered buying a next-gen console, being an avid PC gamer with a kick-ass rig. But because of the big turnaround in the quality of PS3 games which unfortunately PC doesn’t have (GT5, GTA4, MGS4...) as well as Blu-Rays victory in the HD format war. I am forced to declare myself a complete hypocrite.

I think it shows the turn-around the PS3 has had. It's getting some great games coming into the console (The PS3's upcomign titles look much more impressive than any of the Wii's) and it's still not even reaching its full potential in terms of graphics and power, in contrast it looks like the 360 peaked with Halo 3 which had to be limited to keep framerate up.

I'm a main PC gamer, which is why I never got a 360 (Gears, Mass effect, etc. all coming to PC too).

But the Wii and PS3 have games that you can't get on the PC.

And all my friends have Wiis (even if they never play it) so I got PS3.

Also, the PC will probably get GTAIV a year after the console version.

Except the PS3 is like a Weak PC? i have a PS3 and a 360 and a wii and a beast PC. the Ps3 actually see the least use out of any of them. now when a good game comes along like GT5p (next week) im gonna buy it and im really excited about it most of my games are gonna be on 360 its a gamer's console i dont have to do installs updates take like 10 seconds max. admittedly i may think this because of the investment that i have in the 360, almost 50 games, but none the less its what i believe. the PS3 however is a awesome media center, i can take my CF card from my computer and just put it into my ps3 and bam Divix.

Why would you play your 360 then if pretty much every good 360 game is better on the PC?

If I had all three, teh 360 would easily get the least use, for that reason.

i dont know why youd say that, i much prefer sitting on my couch infron of a tv vs sitting in a desk chair also any racing game is gonna be better in console any console

oh well its the same reason you play COD in your ps3 well except the 360 controller actually feels good when you hold it

Your mistaken. Cod 4 had to be limited to keep the framerate up on both the PS3 and 360 not Halo 3.

I have a PS3 which is very cool, but I also have a 360 which beats the PS3 hands down on everything that matters.

Look out for the constant updates and installing games on the hard drive. Its soooo much fun sitting there doing nothing.

Well I play both my console and PC games on a couch, so I guesss that's it.

I find COD4 suited for console play, which was why I bought it on PS3 and downloaded it on PC (to play with freinds on cracked servers) and besides the custom PC maps, I prefer the console for gameplay.

And I agree that the 360 controller is the best (barring the Mouse and Wiimote obviously) for FPS's, but I prefer the Dual Shock 3 for every other Genre, and its not inferior enough on FPS's to bother me. I think it's because my hands aren't huge.

And I play all most of my FPS (Bioshock, Crysis etc) on PC anyways, but now, with Crysis barely running on Medium, I'm going towards console FPSs more then I ever used t.

Like I said above, the 360 is near useless if you havea good gaming PC.
As for the constand updates, it takes like 10 minutes on my connection, and it's barely once a month. And for game installs, out of all my good 13 PS3 games, only two needed and instal, half a gig for Warhawk, and 4 for DMC4, so that was 30 minutes of leaving my PS3 on while I went out?

And what exactly does the 360 beat the PS3 in a major way that doesn;t cost extra? I know that it has a better library of exclusives right now, but most of them are on the PC, and better on the it.

360 is still a great console though, but not for everybody.

i think what he is refering to is that H3 was done at less than <720p by a few lines. what he fails to realize is that it actually rendering each frame twice :lol: to give it that amazing lighting

I wonder what the limit of the 360 is. Saying it has already reached its limit is wrong because look at RE4 on the PS2 compared to its eariler games.

BUT

The 360's hardware was rushed out the door to beat Sony out the gate, I'll find the article where someone who worked on its dev said it. So every game has to work on the early 360's as well as the new SKU's MS has made and is probably making. I'm going to bet that MS is going to be the first into "next Gen" and allow it to keep playing 360 games, but have better hardware.

I'm not saying its bad, but it is definitly one of the most glitchy consoles and the hardware is the major factor holding back the 360. software is good to go.

i think a PS3 is a great investment, but i'd wait and get the MGS bundle... it's an 80gb system, which is what i'd suggest. if you're switching from a PC to a console, i'd say the 360 is the last logical system to go for... the types of games are exactly the same, plus racers. :P

jk jk jk... really though, i think the 360 has peaked... maybe not with it's games, as there will still be tons of great games coming out for both consoles, but i think as far as exclusives go, it's about to trip over itself and get left behind.

good descision mate, may i reccomend a network drive (if youre a pc gamer you have to be savvy enough to set one up). I have a 500gig network drive that i have all my music, films, tv shows etc on, all converted to ps3 compatible format, which means i essential have all my media accesable on my ps3 without filling up it's harddrive.

BSoD, i have a thread in the PC Gaming section, basically i cant even start the desktop because the computer crashes everytime i turn it on. :sad:

That's right, today i finally got my PS3. Bundled with Drakes Fortune and DMC4, playign Drake for about 2 hours now and it's brilliant. Amazing graphics and i'm really enjoying the gunfights.

Love the new controllers as well (Sixaxis), practically the same as the old Dual Shock 2 but the buttons feel really nice and squishy.

Havent managed to hook it up online yet, gonna have to set up the Wireless again soon.

Only annoyance so far is that GT5: Prologue didnt arrive today, which is a shame because that's what i most wanted to play.

You may be wondering why im posting this and not actually playing it. I'm waiting for DMC4 to install or update or something...

Dualshock 3 also doesn´t squeak as much when you are in a tense gaming session, something I just hated about the Sixaxis:tongue:.

Also Legend have you made a PSN ID?

It's heavier and hte buttons and anolouge stick feel better too.

GT5P = win... a lot of people give it grief, but honestly, if it didn't have a gran turismo tag on it, i bet people would consider it one of the best racing games out right now.

Got GT5P today, wow! Game looks awesome, the few tracks there is all look amazing. Only thing im worried about is just how long it will take me to complete it, i've already completed the 'C' section all on gold.

Plus i pre-ordered GTA IV today along with the game guide for it. Had a strange dream where it accidently got delivered to me today ahead of the release date, i dreamt myself taking pictures of the gameplay footage and posting it on here so you would all belive me. :grin:
