Alright I just got done logging the first couple hours into the new Metroid which got me past the first two bosses.
First Impression: Thank God there is finally another game besides Zelda out that makes the Wii worth owning!:)
So far I really like the game. The gameplay and storyline are very addictive and the puzzles are fun. The boss battles are absolutely amazing and I find myself looking forward to them. Using the Wiimote to aim feels very second nature and is very smooth. I haven't put in enough time to really get into the game so it's hard to say anymore than that.
It's not all sunshine and rainbows unfortunately. The game does have a couple flaws. Don't expect amazing graphics. I have a large HDTV and Wii component cables and have it set at 480p so I've got it as good as it can get and I have to admit I'm a little disappointed. Maybe I've just been so used to the amazing graphics of BioShock and Gears of War that it makes this game look bad in comparison. I'm in no way saying that this game is ugly but it definitely is nowhere near the level of graphics found in FPSers on 360 or PC. The only other gripe I have is that Nintendo decided to try and avoid loading screens. What they did instead is have the game try to load on the fly by loading each room individually based on what door you want to open. It's nice to not have any load screens but it seriously can take 5-10 SECONDS for a door to open after you shoot it. It gets really old after awhile. Other than those two complaints, I'm absolutely loving the game and suggest anyone with a Wii to give it a try.
If you liked the Metroids on Gamecube, you're gonna love this game. That is all you need to hear. Go out and buy it tomorrow.
For the other people who have never given Metroid a go, but like FPS games. Go rent this game and give it a try, I promise you won't be disappointed.
