View Full Version : What was the game that sucked you into gaming?
kingofnoland 05-02-2008, 01:40 PM What was the game that got you into gaming. It may have been the one to make you buy a console or the one that made it more then just something on the side, like the one that made gaming your hobby. Was it the first game you played?
For me it was sypro 1. I was young and I loved it, played it for years. It was nice and happy, started off easy for me but was increadibly long.
Odins Messenger 05-02-2008, 01:59 PM Mario/Duckhunt, I was always trying to get that god damn dogs approval and not have him mock me and scar my childhood. It didn't matter how many ducks i shot in a row whenever I missed THERE HE WAS just waiting to mock me DAMN HIM... Sorry, Also i loved the original Mario game simple and hours of jumping and stomping on the heads of mushroom things.
LatinLegacy 05-02-2008, 02:28 PM Space Invaders & Battle Chess for DOS! =)

Ploogle 05-02-2008, 03:25 PM Super Mario Land for the Gameboy. :D Then a host of crappy Playstation games (Like Rugrats and Toy Story...hey, I was a really young n00b!) had me hooked for good.
daCooksta 05-02-2008, 04:19 PM lol
on the Thread page, the title of this thread is "What was the game that sucked...". For me, it was Mega Man 6.
or Gunsmoke. (I believe that's the title, it was a top-down shooter where you were a cowboy... It was awesome.)
Both for the NES.
kingofnoland 05-02-2008, 04:25 PM lol

i'm to young for it to be any earlier games...
Samosael 05-02-2008, 04:45 PM First game I ever played must have been either Pokemon Red or Goldeneye... I owned neither of them, but they inspired me to get a game boy colour and, eventually, an xbox.
First game I owned on GBC was Pokemon Yellow, first on Xbox was Halo.

yay! i found it!
RAGNAROCK 05-04-2008, 01:52 PM mario, pokemon and Legend of the dragoon.
Artemas 05-05-2008, 01:11 PM I had always played games a little bit growing up. Like super mario world for the SNES but what really pulled me in the hardcore class was Quake 3 arena. I think I was a whole 9-10 years old and my older brother and I would play that for hours before and after school.
Although i hate to admit it, the first step for me was Runescape...That then led to a year and a half of non stop WoW.
codinthepocket 05-05-2008, 02:20 PM Super Mario Bros. on the Game Boy. I loved the game.
And then I went off gaming a little bit because I didn't own any consoles.
But then... the PS1 arrived. And I got an N64. And I began my life as a gamer. When I slotted Zelda: Majora's Mask into the N64 and put the RumblePak in my controller, I has become a gamer, and there was no going back. Like I would want to, though.
greeneyedpsyko 05-05-2008, 02:47 PM Earthworm Jim
greeneyedpsyko 05-05-2008, 02:48 PM Earthworm Jim. that game was awesome

AcesHigh4895 05-05-2008, 05:16 PM Pokemon Yellow.
Tinman 05-05-2008, 05:25 PM Mega Man X4 easily. I had an NES but it broke. Then I got my PS1 and came along this little baby.
kdawg12 05-05-2008, 11:07 PM it had to be either doom for the pc or it was sonic the hedge hog two for the sega genisus i played both none stop
Tommythewho 05-06-2008, 02:43 PM Yoshi's Island for the Nintendo 64.
I feel a bit ashamed now...
Mallico 05-07-2008, 01:46 AM Probably Sonic.
yourshadow 05-12-2008, 08:44 PM pokemon yellow or perfect dark for the N64
Duffman X18 05-12-2008, 09:12 PM Crash Bandicoot 2. I have fond memories of that...
smokeymicpot 05-12-2008, 09:26 PM Sonic the hedgehog the first game i had ever played that i can remember.
Awesomus 05-13-2008, 05:34 PM mine is crash bandicoot. I Started playing video games when i was like 2, i couldn't play that well... but i played none the less.
Uber Gam3r 05-14-2008, 04:56 PM Either the Original Heroes of Might and Magic or Darkstone... don't remember which came first. Super Mario Bros. was another of my firsts.
Kiljoy 05-14-2008, 08:19 PM First game I really enjoyed was star wars tie fighter for the PC, but the game that sucked me in and made me a hardcore gamer was Metal Gear Solid.
Uber Gam3r 05-14-2008, 10:40 PM ooh! Forgot about tie fighter... was never very good at it. The first game I played EVER was some Putt Putt game at age 3-4. First ACTUAL game I saw was when I'd watch my dad play Might and Magic or Crusader (had to look that up on google just to be sure of the name :P)
Elven6 05-15-2008, 09:26 PM Solitare on PC, and Sonic on console
LittleTom 05-20-2008, 07:43 PM Age of Empires II
nathanhale 05-20-2008, 07:59 PM The game that got me addicted to gaming was the Darkness for my 360. I just loved shooting someone in the face and then eating their heart!
wow your new!
outcast6 05-28-2008, 09:36 PM Sonic the hedgehog!
Infneon 05-29-2008, 08:44 PM Canon Fodder on the Amiga 500 and probably Dyna Blaster (which later became Bomberman)
caruso1268 05-29-2008, 09:00 PM First two Spiros but the game that sucked me in and made me into the heartless, hardcore gamer that i am today was GOW1. Im an awsome sniper!
dtcarson 05-29-2008, 09:26 PM Home gaming: Initially an Atari 2600 and Space Invaders. Many an evening was spent passing the controller around among the family members.
During high school and first year or so of college I sort of took a break from gaming, having found other interests and demands on my time. Then I visited a bud, and he introduced me to Shining Force on the Sega Genesis. I was back in.
There actually used to be two or three good arcades in my hometown, near the grocery store and record store. Dropping quarters in Moon Patrol, Kangaroo, Amidar, and of course the classics like the various Donkey Kongs and Pac Mans, was painfully addictive. One time I got the Red Token out of the token machine. It was like winning the lottery.
IceKatana X 05-29-2008, 09:44 PM Pokemon games on the N64 and Halo on the Xbox.
Pokemon Red on GameBoy!
VaeVictus X 05-31-2008, 02:58 AM The Faerytale Adventure for the Amiga 500 (released in 1986). The game was absolutely amazing in it's day with graphics better than the Genesis (in 1986 remember,) a whole world to explore (literally,) and completely open ended gameplay.
probably the original super smash bros. or pokemon stadium 1
i was young and soon after that i discovered Zelda: Ocarina of Time which kept me with video games
TOA DOOM 06-01-2008, 09:37 PM Goldeneye for the N64....good times....
ediddy999 06-01-2008, 10:13 PM I would like to say Space Invaders, but the game that really took me over the top was defender. I just loved the space shooting thing, and from what I remember the farther I got the harder it got and it was great.
GreenGamer 06-02-2008, 04:03 AM I was around... 8 or so My mom and dad bought me a Game Gear for my First Holy Commuian (I can't spell it) Sonic the Hedgehog was my first game EVER then when we bought our First computer that year (Dad's always been a sucker for Technology) we had the entire Mega Drive emulated onto it and it all went downhill from there
balaamsafe 06-02-2008, 06:11 AM Goldeneye for the N64....good times....
same, also tomb raider on my pc, i always consider tombraider a pc game because i played it so much on pc.
codinthepocket 06-02-2008, 06:28 AM same, also tomb raider on my pc, i always consider tombraider a pc game because i played it so much on pc.
I really got into the PS1 version. The original Tomb Raider on the PS1 is still my favourite out of all of them...
And Goldeneye was awesome!
ZakkypoO 06-06-2008, 10:30 PM well I gotta say for me it was the one and only TRUE innovative and original game ever created in the history of gaming as we know it......

What game would that be then?:lol: Joke, joke:lol:
Doty Tha Great 06-08-2008, 01:21 PM Mine was Donkey Kong Country for the SNES.
Trouble 06-09-2008, 04:18 AM Solaris on the Atari 2600 or Urogue on my Dad's unix workstation, I think the first game with proper graphics and sound that I played was either Dune 2 or Indiana Jones and the last Crusade on the pc
NuclearNinja 06-09-2008, 09:24 PM Mario Party for the N64
Ala Douche 06-10-2008, 12:12 AM track and field for NES
mallavu399 06-10-2008, 12:26 AM For me it was probably Super Smash Bros. for the N64. Good times, good times. Hell I even boot it up when I got company.
Ala Douche 06-10-2008, 12:37 AM i recently took out the ol' running pad for track and field... i never realized how close together those pads are... it would be... uncomfortable... to say the least. :undecided:
Nibos 06-10-2008, 01:08 AM Banjo-Kazooie for me.
Shane86 06-10-2008, 08:09 AM The Original Super Mario
My starter would have to be Super Mario Brothers, but the game that really "hooked" me and kept me playing was a combination of two games, both on the NES: Super Mario Bros. 3 and - oddly enough - Pinball. I'd play those two for hours on end, start it over countless times, and come back for more the next day.
Lokela 06-10-2008, 11:38 PM I played a lot of games when I was a kid, from Mario to DOOM(on the PC). What really "sucked" me in was NBA Hangtime and 1080 snowboarding on the N64. I still play those games now-a-days when the gaming dry spells hit.
DarkVidard 06-13-2008, 05:17 PM For me it was Red Barron (the 2D version in CGA, not the 3D version, 3D didn't exist then, 8 colors did not either)
Then, I got my computer, and discovered Dune 2, 1992, I was 9, my god, RTS will always be my favorite genre.
spate 06-14-2008, 10:24 AM I remember seeing the ads for Wing Commander in an old Compute magazine and going 'wow.' :) I played waaaay too much of the Wing Commander series, Privateer especially..
That having been said, I think some of the first games that really sucked me in were Apple II games. I seem to recall putting a fair amount of time into an old text adventure game where you were on a deadline to solve a murder. Everywhere you went took time away from the clock, and you had to get enough evidence before time ran out to make it stick on whomever you accused. I don't remember much more, except that it involved a computer chip design..
But the first game that made me stay up all night? Star Control II.
consolerpgdude 06-14-2008, 06:35 PM Donkey Kong Jr. all the way back on the CollecoVision. I just played, and played and played that game! I was addicted to it!
Age of Empires 2. Best online play ever, i'd still be playing it now if they'd kept it going.
AcesHigh4895 06-15-2008, 10:51 AM Breakout for one of the first Apple systems. It came with it. Then I got into Smash Bros. and Donkey Kong on the N64.
moosehound 06-19-2008, 10:22 AM Oh Jeez here we go... it was Attic Attak on the 48K Spectrum... sad but true.. taht and pacman on the 2600..
:)
bmauro11 06-20-2008, 02:09 PM Dragon ball z for the snes
bman5000 06-20-2008, 02:14 PM Silent Hill for the PS1
the first mario bros on nes then mario 3, and supermario world on snes, then something happend to me i found a game called chrono trigger for snes at the local rental store. from there on i was addicted to rpg's like the final fantasy's. now its all about online games with your friends. i love my generation we are the first generation of people who dont loose track of our good friends after highschool. the internet ownz.
nathanhale 06-22-2008, 08:02 PM Spyro: PS1. It's only just left my top 10 of my favorite games ever due to the arrival of MGS4.
TheWorldEndsWithMe 06-26-2008, 10:38 PM Final Fantasy III (VI)
I'm a literature junkie and FFIII (VI) made me realize that games had huge potential to be AMAZING story telling devices.
Otacon91 06-28-2008, 09:42 PM Pole Position for Atari, No racing game has ever owned as hard as that one.
Lord Butters I 06-28-2008, 10:05 PM Pokemon on the Game Boy. It was the shit in 3rd grade.
topgamer95 06-29-2008, 12:32 PM The game(s) that really sucked me into gaming were probably any spyro that came out for the ps1 and crash bandacoot 1 and 3. I loved these games so much on the ps1, it was the reason i got a ps2 not an xbox, and i haven't regreted the choice since (well, maybe a little)
paulmess7 06-29-2008, 01:15 PM Spyro: PS1. It's only just left my top 10 of my favorite games ever due to the arrival of MGS4.
I loved that game!
FEARMASTER93 07-03-2008, 12:29 AM My first game was Bugs Life for the Ps1 Based on the movie. I absoultley loved the game when I was four. Then I got hooked on Mario and the Six Golden Coins.
Raven 07-03-2008, 12:38 AM The original Legend of Zelda and Metroid on the NES. I've played other games on the Atari 2400 but I remember being 4 or 5 and just playing Zelda for hours on end. Punch Out! also was one I played a lot along with Bomberman.
JasonSoft 07-03-2008, 07:38 PM Doom and Worms.

Yamster 07-07-2008, 06:06 PM RIIIIIIIIIDGE RACER!
Seriously though, the first game I played religiously and finished was Ridge Racer Revolution at the tender age of 7. Ah, bless. Ten years on, I've not matured in the slightest; can you tell?

Cujoe 07-08-2008, 05:25 PM i used to try to cheat and use my hands.... haha..........sigh....memories.
lilkuke 07-09-2008, 02:10 AM Donkey Kong Country and all the Crash Bandicoot games, specifically Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped. I would go to my friend's house everyday becuase he had it and I didn't, and play it for hours. Goldeneye was a pretty big contributor too. I remember how all the kids in our neighborhood would go to this one kid's garage and we would play Goldeneye for hours and hours. Good times.

I know, how could it NOT pull you in. Good ole' days, back in 1st grade.
NeedlessMystery 07-10-2008, 06:11 PM For me, it was Star Wars Dark Forces II on the PC. A demo of the game had been installed on my dad's Windows 98 computer and I shortly discovered it shuffling through the start menu. I soon bought it and simply had a blast with it.
Dark Forces II was the first game, for me, that immersed me in a virtual world. Though it may be lacking by today's standards, it was incredible at the time to me.
Gornall 07-10-2008, 06:51 PM Noddy Adventure on the Amiga...I was four :P

SimUser 07-13-2008, 02:46 AM I think the first game I can recall clearly was Dragon's Lair in the arcade at my local mall: Alladin's Castle in Casper, Wyoming, but we may have gotten our 2600 before that (Yes, I'm one of those older types)
BTW, to gigermunit, RCR was the king of the NES. Well other than the original Dragon Warrior and Final Fantasy, oh and Magic of Scheherazade, and... Screw it, bring back 8-bit.
grumpyzrp 07-15-2008, 02:26 PM Donkey Kong Country! WOO
Ash1402 07-15-2008, 02:32 PM I don`t remember the exact game but it was on the N64
ObsidianFire 07-15-2008, 02:37 PM for me it definitely had to be Quake or Ninja Gaiden (the original one not the XBOX version)

Bostonjoe 07-16-2008, 10:14 PM When I was just a small lad my dad bought me an N64 for Christmas. The first games I had for it were Diddy Kong Racing, and Starfox 64, two great classics. I've been hooked ever since and I love all sorts of games! Even the classics!
The McMurder 07-20-2008, 02:24 PM final fantasy on the ps1, super smash on the n64, kingdom hearts on the ps2, Halo, and KotOR on the xbox, now i'm a hardcore gamer nuff said

Inzader 08-05-2008, 02:31 PM Tetris/Bomberman. And Sonic The Hedgehog to, and Then More Hardcore stuff was Pokemon and Mario 2.
Black Lace 08-05-2008, 06:17 PM Super Mario Bros. on the NES.
rcwpong 08-06-2008, 12:23 AM My dad came home one day with a Colecovision. Despite never owning an Atari I played all the current arcade games at the time when I was 5 years old at home on that Colecovision. Mouse Trap, Frogger, Popeye, Carnival, Smurfs, Donkey Kong and DK Junior, Burgertime, Q Bert. But above all my favorite had to be Venture (http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?game_id=10301). I loved that system.
I've been a gamer ever since really.
Killgraft 08-06-2008, 12:34 AM The original Super Mario Bros / Duck Hunt cart that came with my NES. Pretty sure anyway. Was around 5 or so, the game had been out for about 7 years or so at that point. Most games id say I "rocked it" or "destroyed it", but this game I made sweet, sweet love to.
Yes its a cliche, but thats life.
Awoll SGF 08-06-2008, 01:11 AM I was born with a game controller in my hand...
So I guess I don't really have a game. But if I was forced to pick one, it would have to be either Dungeon Master for the Amiga or Wing Commander for the PC.
Just thinking of it makes me want to dust off my old A2000... ah the good old days.
Spoony Bard 08-06-2008, 11:03 AM Pokemon Blue Version! It was the first game I ever had. My mom got me that and a blue Gameboy Color for my sixth birthday. I never got past the fourth Gym leader...
EL DIABL0 91 08-06-2008, 11:30 AM Pokemon Blue Version! It was the first game I ever had. My mom got me that and a blue Gameboy Color for my sixth birthday. I never got past the fourth Gym leader...
How'd you not get past the fourth leader!?! Maybe it was just cuz i was a Pokemon freak when I was younger that i went through like every Pokemon game up to Crystal...anyway, my game was probably Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island...I loved that even before I got the Pokemon games.
Old Snake 08-06-2008, 11:55 AM Metal Gear for the NES or SNES (can't remember which) played it at my poor friends house in 1996 and I've loved the series ever since
PopTrogdor 08-07-2008, 06:22 AM Doom2 on MSDOS
Edthefreak 08-07-2008, 05:10 PM It had to be Sonic the Hedgehog 1 and 2 that first sucked me in. What sucked me into 3D gaming was probably Spyro the Dragon and Crash Bandicoot. Good stuff.
sonnytim 08-07-2008, 07:30 PM mine would be 007 goldeneye for the N64 proably the first first person shooter i played
RaiseHavok 08-08-2008, 08:38 AM This is going to be the most cliche answer possible, but the first videogame I remember playing was Super Mario Bros. for the NES. Though, the first console I bought (my NES was a hand-me-down) was a Genesis.
bluec1988 08-08-2008, 11:42 AM batman from the old gameboy sonic 2 and sonic and knuckles, streets of rage, air combat aka ace combat, twisted metal 1 and 2
Brandonpop 08-12-2008, 12:05 AM It was a several games for me
PC- Runescape (Laugh all you want)
PS- PACMAN!!!!!! and Crash Bandicoot Racing game
Hungry Luma 08-19-2008, 09:08 AM Though I had the earliest versions of almost every handheld sytem, I never played them. My first gaming was "SpongeBob Squarepants: Curse Of the Flying Dutchman." This game was on the Gameboy Advance. I still play it every once and a while till this very day.
nathanhale 08-19-2008, 09:17 AM Spyro. Only reason my mom would let me have a console... And it was worth every minute of my lost childhood.
nick10234 08-20-2008, 11:04 AM first was pokemon blue got me into my gameboy.
Then jak and daxter got me into my ps2
George McBain 08-20-2008, 04:17 PM Hmmm, well I have been playing since Atari 2600 as a young lad. Some stand out memories include Super Mario Bros 2 one Christmas, getting a SNES and playing SFII on a console, playing too much MK2/MK3 in the arcades ... but probably the big crossover moments were either of the three following:
- Seeing the world ACTUALLY get destroyed in FFIII/FFVI
- Getting freaked the F out by those dogs in the beginning of RE1
- Playing, beating, and getting all the stars in Mario 64
RaiseHavok 08-20-2008, 10:06 PM It had to be Sonic the Hedgehog 1 and 2 that first sucked me in. What sucked me into 3D gaming was probably Spyro the Dragon and Crash Bandicoot. Good stuff.
I actually chose the Playstation over the N64 based on a 15-minute session with the original Crash Bandicoot at Toys R Us. Best decision I ever made. Though, I did eventually get a N64 as well.
Blake 08-21-2008, 01:27 PM My first game console was the Atari 2600, but it really wasn't "mine" as my parents bought it more to feed their Pac Man fever addiction.
The thing that hooked me on consoles was getting the NES and Super Mario Bros 3 the first Christmas it was out. I also got my own color tv, best Christmas ever!
The Dutch Don 08-22-2008, 06:24 PM Pong.
Yep, Pong. I must have been about 10 years old and my uncle had it.
Black & white graphics, two stripes and a little square that resembled rackets and ball.
Me and my younger brother played it all day long whenever we visited my uncle with our parents. After that game I just wanted more and have been into gaming ever since. :w00t:
ScruffyTheJanitor 08-23-2008, 11:59 AM Quake 3 and Toy Story haha yes i am a young gamer =D
and it was only the Quake3 demo =/
RaiseHavok 08-23-2008, 12:07 PM Quake 3 and Toy Story haha yes i am a young gamer =D
and it was only the Quake3 demo =/
I used to have Toy Story for the Genesis. I could never get past that Claw level at Pizza Planet.
DontEatTheYellowSnow 09-03-2008, 12:23 PM Mercenaries for PS2 definetely, that was a fantastic game with a good storyline
Jus Blaze Man02 09-03-2008, 01:33 PM Crash Bandicoot and Megaman Legends are my favs and are what sucked me into the gaming world
AlmightyEmperor 09-03-2008, 02:30 PM Halo.
1st game i ever really played, like payed attention to what was happening.
PayneTrain 09-03-2008, 05:06 PM Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy
It was one of the games that made me proud to own a PS2. My first game I bought for the system too. When I was like 8 maybe? Or 10? I got the PS2 for my birthday and 20 bucks. It was a Greatest Hit by then, so i got it, and loved it. I broke out my dad's SNES and started real gaming.
Shiekshreek 09-03-2008, 06:16 PM The game that sucked me in was...... Luigis mansion.
But i did have alot of handheld games before that, but luigis mansions was the first one i was actually excited about completeing.... i whould re-play it but since I've heard people hate it im worried it will destroy a small part of my childhood. Sigh... i guess I whould rather it remain a classic in my eyes then face up to the truth.
Lib3rtine 09-03-2008, 06:46 PM I'm young enough for mine to be Unreal Tournament.
I played games before, but that was the one that made me a gamer haha :D
nathanhale 09-03-2008, 06:47 PM Jesus. This is one thread that has stood the test of time!
mikeyb003 09-03-2008, 08:46 PM donkey kong and mario games on the super nintendo
snclr 09-04-2008, 05:56 AM Really, strangely enough, it was Final Fantasy that really made me take interest into games. I always loved the series and from that obsession, I went to MGS as it was recommended to me by a friend. After casually gaming on the PS2, I bought my Xbox and got into Halo 2, in a real heavy way.
SurfinMongo 09-05-2008, 05:17 PM It all started with Dr. Mario and Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt for me.
AlmightyEmperor 09-07-2008, 12:00 AM Jesus. This is one thread that has stood the test of time!
You played Jesus?
How was that like?
Gaminghalb 09-07-2008, 04:03 AM What really got me into gaming was starcraft for the pc.
On the consoles it would have to be super mario bros, baulder's gate and halo
DoomHammer 09-07-2008, 10:45 AM I reckon the first game that really got me intrested in gaming was the mario games for the super nintendo.
The crash Bandicoot games for the playstation two were excellent. The game ive probably put the most time into is world of warcraft prior to quiting it. However by far my favourite game series is the golden sun games.
chaingunpope 09-07-2008, 01:52 PM FIFA 94.
...Yes, FIFA 94. I played it at my uncle's, loved it, picked up a PS1...Things just took off from there.
Demosthenes 09-12-2008, 09:44 PM The first game I remember playing was Gold Rush. My father had a Mac at work and every once in a while he would bring it home and let me play on it. I must have been about 7 or 8, but I loved it. I had to remember the MS DOS code to run it. Once we got our own computer at home, it was Commander Keen and Duke Nukem.
deadlyspaceman 09-18-2008, 03:52 PM I think the first ever game i played and thought was groundbraking was one of the original megaman game sofr the playstation 1. OR maybe it was pokemon red...
come to think of it - it could well have been super mario.
kingofnoland 09-18-2008, 05:05 PM Wow this thread has grown a lot. First thread I ever created as well, I am so proud.
It's interesting to see how there is such a spread on here from nes games through to this generation, while at the same time there are certain games that seem to come up a lot. Or am I looking too much into this?
Victorsxl 09-18-2008, 05:16 PM Age Of Empires. THen Spyro And Tekken 3
Duck Hunt and Super Mario World
JenniferLynnVIP 09-25-2008, 12:52 PM I played barnstormers on atari, but it was definately Mario that was my first true love. My parents of course wouldn't buy me a console of my own, because it was for boys, but my A-hole boy cousins had one & of course wouldn't let me play. So I had to play after everyone was asleep. Which meant I had to keep the sound down. Which meant I was stuck on the 8th castle for oh, I don't know, months? & finally I was watching them play "who can beat the whole game fastest" & they had the sound up. Which was when I realized that there was a sound indicating whether or not you had ran the right way. Yeah I beat it that night. Yeah I was happy.
SugarFree 09-25-2008, 01:09 PM Tecmo Super Bowl (NES) was my first love. Nobody can stop LT on the wing.
But my first video game blister was from the original Mortal Kombat for Genesis. I think that's when I knew life would never be the same.
A B A C A B B.....get over here!
duck hunt and does solitaire count? lol, I played it first on the computer
Intense Degree 10-10-2008, 09:59 AM I played lots of games on my old Amstrad years ago but the game that really got me addicted was actually Kings Quest VI on PC. That was the one that changed everything for me.
I remember being blown away by the graphics in the introduction, I literally couldn't believe how incredible they were. However, if you look at them now they are complete pants!
Jordan the hobo 10-10-2008, 11:10 AM Personally for me its the first 2 tekens and the first 2 Crash Bandicoot games on the ps1
sp4ngle 10-10-2008, 11:59 AM Either Gridrunner or Matrix on the Vic20. After that, probably Elite on the BBC B - we used to spend hours playing that thing.
TheeBassMasta 10-22-2008, 10:22 AM ether banjo kazooie or crash badicoot 2 :)
DeadpoolSkye 10-22-2008, 04:10 PM Castlevania on the N64...when I was 7. I played that game so many times, my thumbs started to hurt. My mom never really had a good grasp on the ratings system.
(That's when I begged for an NES to try out some game I was missing from "back in da day")
NintendoGirl 10-22-2008, 04:41 PM My first system was the N64,and i loved watching my dad play Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask (I was 4 and really couldn't play too well lol) I also loved Banjo Kazooie and Diddy Kong Racing :) so i guess those games really got me into gaming... hahaha
Droozy 10-27-2008, 04:18 PM 1. Shinobi and Alex the kid for the Sega mastersystem.......
Why Sega put all their effort into sonic and not those two are beyond me
Cookie 11-01-2008, 06:08 PM Starcraft definately.
If Starcraft was a vegetable, I would be addicted to vegetables.
I still play it to this day!
Ch1cken X 11-01-2008, 07:16 PM The first game I ever played was "Super Spike Volleyball" on the NES. It was fun and addictive. Once I played that, it opened the door to "Punch Out", the Mario Series, etc... I've been hooked ever since.
AlmightyEmperor 11-01-2008, 08:17 PM Starcraft definately.
If Starcraft was a vegetable, I would be addicted to vegetables.
I still play it to this day!
Awesome metaphor
Kingspade1010 11-01-2008, 08:23 PM PACMAN... jk im not that old and idk what game it was
wobyer 11-10-2008, 10:06 PM For me, it would probably be, one of the James Bond games for N64. It was at my friends house, and i couldnt stop playing it and stuff. so yea. That was when i was like 6-7.
thedarknight 11-11-2008, 02:40 AM halo... and halo 2
Gilarus 11-11-2008, 08:10 AM Spyro, @ the age of 4-5 :)
Victorsxl 11-11-2008, 10:39 AM Tekken 3 and age of empires
Nerves 11-13-2008, 12:27 AM Excitebike!! I played it at my neighbors house for hours everyday after school. Great topic. Ahhh sweet nostalgia.
BT182 11-13-2008, 09:08 PM i played a lot of crash and vigilante 8. also tekken and tomb raider.
with my sig it is psar dumper and i want to play crash 3
Captain America 11-13-2008, 10:11 PM Star Fox 64 Bitches!!!
BonfireAg03 11-13-2008, 10:31 PM Geez...that was so long ago. Pole Position on the Atari, I guess? I'd watched my dad play King's Quest on the computer, but the text entry system was a little over my head at the time. But then we got an Atari 2600 for Christmas, with Pole Position boxed in, and I was hooked for life.
blackcat0158 11-21-2008, 02:36 PM The first game I spent hours upon hours playing with my dad would have been Haunted House. The first one I played by myself was Laser Blast. Both for the Atari 2600.
I spent a 6 hour marathon playing Laser blast. The stupid thing never ends. It took me a while to realize my points weren't going up any more. I haven't touched it since, but the fond memories are all still there.
Cheese 11-21-2008, 02:44 PM Even though I'm a ps3 owner....the game that really got me into gaming was halo (the first one). Oh actually before that it was Star Wars Battlefront (again the first one).
nopain14 11-21-2008, 02:44 PM i don't know gaming is my hobby but it was on the side for a long time i am sad to say that gaming was not my number one hobby till the next gen console so mabey cod4 bioshock it was a little before them that i was into gaming and its media and really understanding everything
DigIt 11-23-2008, 08:33 PM Either Spiro the Dragon for PS (awesome game), GoldenEye on N64, or all those Pokemon games i played on my gameboy color. Those were my childhood gaming memories. Oh yeah, and watching my dad play Quake/Doom/Half-Life when i was little.
Galtonia 11-30-2008, 03:45 PM For me, after a few years of gaming on my Atari 800XL and Amstrad CPC, the first real "goodbye life" game was Elite on my Atari ST. Whilst at school during the day I would be planning my trading strategies and contemplating the many totally unexpected events that had occurred, before losing myself in the infinite nothingness of space when got home.
I should have got out more then. Nothing changes....
will snipe 4 butter 12-06-2008, 03:21 PM Hard question...
I would have to sat pokemon stadium and mario 64 and Donky kong 64
KumiKaze 12-09-2008, 12:55 AM For me it was probably Oregon Trail in the schools computer lab, plus Chooper Command, Jungle Hunt, Dig Dug, and then Super Mario Bros/Duckhunt propelled it to unstoppable proportions.
Niyon 12-09-2008, 03:07 AM The first couple of games I played were Wolfenstein 3D, and Might & Magic IV/V. Those are the ones I remember spending much of my free time playing.
BaD SPLeR 12-09-2008, 03:56 AM Pokemon blue
Pyrotails 12-10-2008, 12:43 PM I'd say Pokemon Blue (the Game Boy Color- which messed up my spelling of colour for years afterwards (thanks US!)) and the Sonic games on the Mega Drive. They were awesome.
Jordan the hobo 12-10-2008, 01:50 PM Crash bandicoot on the PS1. I played that game for hours upon hours
aXone 12-12-2008, 09:12 AM Sonic the Hedgehog 2 on the Sega Mega Drive. Aw, i loved this Game.
Oh, and of course Golden Axe.
aaron80 12-25-2008, 08:49 PM For PC, it was Elder Scrolls IV after a long absence from PC gaming and for console it was FFVII.
PunkRockGamer 12-26-2008, 12:59 AM Hmm this is a TOUGH one. I'm prolly gonna have to say probably the old Twisted Metal games on the PS1. Like the first two ones. Cool Boarders 2 for the PS1. And also Crash Bandicoot too for the PS1. Those probably had the biggest role. Beside the fact, my big brother had the biggest influence on me starting to game. Thank God for cool older brothers! Haha.
DeadpoolCoBInc 12-26-2008, 08:54 AM The very first legend of zelda. on nes. I think i got that for my 4th or 5th birthday. And yeah, pretty much ever since I've loved playing video games. I mean I'd played other ones before on our atari (i can't remember the number I was like 3) I specifically remember the pac man rip off we had called like K-c's crazy chase or something like that. And I remember playing like mario and duckhunt before zelda... But for me zelda is what did it. I loved looking all over and exploring for things. And back then fighting the moblins was scary. Good times. Good freaking times...
Bohemian Child 12-27-2008, 03:04 AM Mario Kart 64. still in m top ten
Sargent Peppers 12-28-2008, 11:49 AM I think I was sucked in by Smackdown 2: Know Your Rule for the PS1. There was something about beating the snot out of somebody that got me addicted.
The shareware version of Doom...on floppy
NuclearNinja 12-30-2008, 06:44 PM One of the Mario Partys, 3 I think.
PunkRockGamer 12-30-2008, 08:52 PM One of the Mario Partys, 3 I think.
Arent Mario Partys getting a little old now?
Bryce 12-31-2008, 01:37 AM Either pokemon snap or warcraft 2
