View Full Version : What was you favourite ps1 platformer?
kingofnoland 05-06-2008, 01:00 PM Got this idea when creating the ratchet and clank thread,
When i had my ps1 i only ever played platformers, and i wondered which was everyone's favourite.
Mine was spyro. They were just great games..
codinthepocket 05-06-2008, 02:19 PM That was a tough one...
I voted Spyro. Purely because the first couple were really, really good...
Crash was an incredibly close second.
Sinfulfate 05-06-2008, 03:02 PM Crash.
Mr Eibmoz 05-06-2008, 03:05 PM Out of those, none come close to Oddworld.
not out of those though, Jumping Flash!
Dawnathella 05-06-2008, 03:12 PM Crash although i did really love spyro
Crash, all the way, but I almost hit Spyro :)
pherstothelee 05-09-2008, 04:00 PM Crash was just plain awesome. Especially Warped. But then it went downhill. I was tempted to vote Gex because no one else had and I loved that series as well.
AcesHigh4895 05-11-2008, 06:23 PM Gex was great, but Spyro was my big thing back then. I would have my next door neighbor come over and we'd take turns playing levels and killing guys. Ripto's Rage was my favorite, I remember wishing that I could kill Moneybags...
RAGNAROCK 05-11-2008, 09:03 PM spyro, riptos rage was my favorite,I remember all those hours spent trying to get all gems and emerals, but in the end the reward wasen't that great.
Tinman 05-12-2008, 01:03 AM i loved them all...I voted Rayman becaus he was my first platformer.
@Eibmoz: jumping flash kicked so much ass.
Uber Gam3r 05-12-2008, 01:17 AM wow... really tough choice! I voted spyro, since it had the most replay value, but Rayman was sweet, and I spent entire days on crash trying to get those time trials and hit every box... IMO croc wasn't that great, but I did finally get through ape escape, and gex was one that I never actually got very far through... Sadly, never played oddworld.
Carasina 05-12-2008, 04:26 AM Ugh I can't pick between spyro and crash, its like trying to decide between cake or pie...
Feanor 05-12-2008, 11:38 AM Does Tomb Raider II count as a platformer?
smokeymicpot 05-12-2008, 01:03 PM Spyro because it was the first game i had ever completed 100%. And the first two were amazing. Crash was a very close second
Awesomus 05-13-2008, 05:41 PM Ugh I can't pick between spyro and crash, its like trying to decide between cake or pie...
Crash...and pie is better.
I'm firmly behind Spyro in this one, though I've spent a good lot of time with both Crash and Gex (which takes second in my book).
BTW, where's Boogerman? ;)
rothbart 06-11-2008, 01:48 AM Nice question/choices (hey, you're not going to catch me posting "Nice poll!" <-- that doesn't count!)
Tough choices too... I really loved the PS1 Spyro and Crash games a lot. I chose Spyro because I really spent a lot of time in those games. Although I have to say I really loved the original Rayman and the Gex games.
Ala Douche 06-11-2008, 02:04 AM Does Tomb Raider II count as a platformer?
i think i'd consider that an action/adventure game personally...
i chose crash, cause.... well it's the only series of those i played.
nathanhale 06-11-2008, 02:44 PM Spyro FTW. I really liked ape escape though I rented that for over triple the cost of buying it :)
Shane86 06-11-2008, 02:56 PM Pandemonium
rothbart 06-11-2008, 03:22 PM Pandemonium
I loved those games too... I'd probably buy 'em again if they came out on PSN. 2.5D platformers can be pretty sweet when done right. Crystal Dynamics... take a break from Tomb Raider and give us a revamp of Pandemonium!
Shane86 06-11-2008, 03:29 PM Crystal Dynamics... take a break from Tomb Raider and give us a revamp of Pandemonium! That would be sweeeet :D
chris24680 06-11-2008, 03:46 PM ape escape is one of my favourite games ever
Blake 06-12-2008, 04:25 PM There is not nearly enough love for Oddworld:Abe's Oddysee in this thread.
This game was the second best 2D side-scroller on the PS1, right under Symphony of the Night.
The game had perfect controls, creative puzzles, and a wonderfully dark sense of humor all wrapped in a really unique world with sharp graphics.
Imagine what a game like that could have been with the DS and it's touch screen.
caruso1268 06-12-2008, 04:59 PM I hated like evrything bsides Spyro back then! Course, i was only 5 at the time!
Tinman 06-12-2008, 05:08 PM I still love the original Rayman. When it went full 3D it got...not as good.
consolerpgdude 06-15-2008, 12:23 AM I don't think I really played any of those.
LatinLegacy 06-15-2008, 01:33 AM MEGAMAN 8! lol I voted for Crash but man did i love Megaman 8. It was like reliving the NES days all over again.

rothbart 06-15-2008, 12:32 PM I still love the original Rayman. When it went full 3D it got...not as good.
I agree that the 2D Rayman was the best of the series.
PopTrogdor 06-15-2008, 05:42 PM its all about crash
moosehound 06-19-2008, 10:21 AM I just had to vote for Crash although Spyro came a very very close 2nd... loved them both !!
